11:02 PM
@Ash are you allowed to take tips or is this a don't-ask-don't-tell thing?

user15026
@Chippies I'm allowed - it's really really rare that it happens, this is only like the third time

user15026
I was just happy to be able to help her

@Ash ah, I thought tips were really only allowed at restaurants and such, but I guess it's rare to explicitly forbid them

user15026
There's no real rule against it, really - the only thing is that they're considered income so technically you have to declare them

yeah, but no one does that

user15026
11:09 PM
thats why I said technically :P

user15026
11:38 PM
Augh the CIC changed a form on us AGAIN. sigh I guess I should stop trying to keep these current until we get the background check, but it's just hard because we have to mail stuff back and forth to get it signed :/

user15026
Seriously y'all once I mail this thing, I am going to PARTY because it will (if we did it right) mean we just wait for stuff (okay yes there are a couple other bits but the big stuff will be done)

user15026
(sorry I am tired of being stuck in the land of infinite forms)

I'm truly astounded by how complicated this process seems to be, honestly

@Ash like that one mission in WoL?

user15026
@Dragonrage YES

user15026
11:43 PM
@quartata It would be not so bad except they keep changing it to make it easier and yes it does but since these forms need signatures and we're in two different countries its jsut like "well crap"

so they won't take the old forms at all

user15026
Like...eventually the background check will come and then the forms will get done and then I can shove the whole lot in a big envelope or whatever and then I can breathe and just like....let it happen how it happens

user15026
@quartata Nope, they have to be whatever is current at time of mailing

maybe learn to forge the signatures

user15026
And we thought we'd mail earlier than we did but then the needing the background check became a "before you mail" thing instead of an "after you mail" thing so that's what I am waiting on right now

11:45 PM
How long has the background check been pending? I remember vaguely you complaining about having to assemble a giant ball of your DMs a few months ago

@quartata ᴉɟ ʎon lǝɐɹu ʇo ɟoɹƃǝ sᴉƃuɐʇnɹǝs ndsᴉpǝ' ᴉʇs ɐddɐɹǝuʇlʎ ǝɐsᴉǝɹ

user15026
@quartata oh, I still technically have to finish that bit

@Dragonrage is this backwards and upside down
holy shit that hurt my neck

user15026
The background check just takes a while because the FBI takes for.ev.er. to process (on the order of a few months)

@quartata just upside down

11:47 PM
no it's not though
oh wait yes it is
I'm rotating, not reflecting

@Dragonrage it is backwards as well, because if you rotate it right side up, it's backwards

improper rotation

@Chippies you are supposed to reflect it, not rotate it

@Dragonrage then it's... inverted?
and wouldn't the letters be backwards if you reflect it?
yes, yes they would
so yeah, it's either upside down and backwards, or it's inverted

idk, i just used upsidedowntext.com and only used upsidedown text, not reverse

11:51 PM
I mean, if you think of it from regular text perspective, then yeah, it's in the same left to right order, but letters are upside down

ohhhh I see it now

but if you try to read the letters the proper way, it's backwards

it's rotated into the screen
not a reflection
Wow, we just derailed that conversation huh

that tends to happen on the bridge

@quartata which is what inverting essentially does

11:52 PM
@Ash Oof, I can see why there's so much of a barrier to entry for this if they have to be involved
bleh

user15026
@quartata I mean it's just a standard "hey are you a criminal" rap sheet sort of check thing

@Ash is this a US-only thing?

I don't think any of us actually drive trains, so it's not surprising that we derail the conversation on the bridge a lot.

I don't remember it taking that long for me, but I have never been a US citizen, so FBI was not involved :P

user15026
@Chippies the background check is standard now, the FBI just takes forever to process mailed in background check requests

user15026
11:54 PM
So since yours would've been done through your original country of residence the processing would've been different

@Dragonrage No, but @badp is a professional trucker

user15026
Like Canada's processing for these is like a few weeks at most

@Ash I'm pretty sure we applied for the background check locally here in Canada, not sure what went on in the background though

@quartata thats scary. ive seen his parking attempts

user15026
@Chippies did you do yours as inland or outland?

11:55 PM
@Dragonrage They're beautiful!

@Ash ah, right, mine was inland
I guess that would make a difference

user15026
@Chippies It does make a lot of differences, yeah

user15026
Like how you could get Canada to do your check, he can't

user15026
But it's okay, we will conquer this thing

we were looking things up and inland was the safest option, because while outland is supposedly quicker, we've read and heard stories of people whose application hangs in the air for years

user15026
11:56 PM
I am just like "okay when this is done I don't want to do paperwork FOREVER ever again"

whereas inland even if it did hang in the air for a while, I'm allowed to stay until I get an answer
not really an option for you guys though, since you're all working adults :P

user15026
@Chippies Yeah, for us, outland was really the only practical option

user15026
and I suspect once we get it actually mailed it will work out, I just gotta get to that point

user15026
(After the mailing, it's just wait for responses and then his medical somewhere in there)

user15026
I am pretty confident it should all work out once we manage to get the thing mailed (although I am kinda curious how much it's going to cost to overnight courier with tracking but I refuse to send it any other way)

user15026
11:58 PM
(Probably like an arm a leg and a first born but that's okay)
