Q: is killing barron worth losing a turret?

I've noticed that every time me and my team go for baron we lose a turret. Is the boost from baron really worth losing a turret? Doesn't baron just give health and mana regen? Can a baron kill alone bring a sure lose to a victory or is pushing more important?

I think @LessPopMoreFizz was correct in that the only way to deal with the huge increases in volume is to assign a couple pro-term mods during the contest.

Well, kind of late now, but in the future to do so if we do something similiar.

@IvoFlipse yeah, I think there needs to be a fair bit of cleanup, the issue is that I think there's only a couple of us mods that know anything about LoL, and the terminology is sufficiently complex that it's hard for the rest of us to moderate

I know almost nothing about LoL. So except in some really extreme cases, I only know somethings should be closed / deleted if someone provides an explanation.

@IvoFlipse Except mods shouldn't just mindlessly delete something because it was flagged. As @agent86 said, since most mods are unfamiliar with the terminology of LoL, they can't just quickly decide if a flag is valid.

So dealing with answer deletions is more time consuming than usual.

Yes, it is very normal for redstone to light up while mining. I think it's to represent the fact that redstone transfers energy well.

@agent86 There's nothing the community can do to clean up this mess, they can only flag bad stuff and let the moderators deal with it. However, users can leave a comment giving the user directions/instructions so the moderator only has to convert/delete or whatnot

@IvoFlipse sorting the mess into good and bad is absolutely the job of the community. I agree that moderators are going to have to do the final clean up, but I can't just go in and pick a percentage of the 281 LoL answers posted in the last couple of days and say "these are the bad ones" unilaterally.

Q: Will any Target Spells follow Shen across the map if he ult teleports?

I do know that if you place a time bomb from Zilean on Shen, he becomes a bomb carrier. There was one time that I shot him with a Janna slow and it followed him up to top lane from bot lane. Do Any other spell do that?

Well, I disagree with the dead horse/old game bit, as LoL is very popular (and getting more popular) and the nature of the game is such that an expert Q&A site is exactly what it needs

I feel like a lot of these league questions will get better answers after the initial rush goes away. I haven't had time to answer a lot of them that I had answers too because I've been running around close voting and down voting. If I do take the time to answer the swarm just covers my answer at the moment. The main problem to me is that no one is voting on the answers so everyone is hovering around 0/1 votes regardless of the content.

Which probably goes back to only having a few active LoL users.

For example, the questions that got posted last night after the stream closed were correctly filtered by votes because we had a lot of regulars around.

During the stream it is just a zerg rush.

As soon as the tournament is over and the fire hose of new visitors ends, the crappy stuff will get closed/downvoted and disappear from the front page forever. This is a stress test of the StackExchange moderation/quality control system, and I think we're handling it fine.

If Stack Overflow can handle thousands of PLZ SEND ME TEH JQUERY questions per day, we can handle a few subpar LoL questions.

However, it does make me not like the current contest format since I've felt like my answers during the day were wasted as far as chances to win. While, if I wait to bump a question at night the regulars will come through and possibly upvote me.

Yeah, the chat software lets you auto-post from an RSS feed. It's handy sometimes.

It depends on the volume of chat, too. You don't want all the legitimate chatting to be drowned out by a flood of new questions.

I've seen some of the quieter rooms slowly die off because new questions were 90% of the chat volume and nothing anybody said would even get noticed
