@murgatroid99 Pretty much, yes. For UI stuff where you might need to pack a huge number of arguments and half of them are optional, an object makes a lot more sense

Then you have function(required_arg1, required_arg2, required_arg3, options_object)

if you have a function with 10 parameters, nobody can remember the order. But stuffing unrelated stuff into an object for this is also usually not a very good idea. The whole thing is also different if the language allows for optional, named parameters

@MadScientist JS has no named parameters, unfortunately, and all arguments are technically speaking optional. ES6 adds default parameters.

If you do use an object, as long as it's not nested deeply it's useful to keep a default options object and merge the provided parameters object into that
