i said me.irl, not me_irl
me_irl is great
as is anime_irl
@Wipqozn If they get close, I'll try to negotiate.
user15026
@twobugs I probably look like a hippo in a bathing suit splashing about but I don't care, swimming is fun
But with how it went down, I don't have much faith.
boooo
Okay that gif is really annoying now
23:04
Hm, I think it's a Pizza night
user15026
@twobugs I think tomorrow might be pizza night for me.
Aug 5 '10 at 7:09, by Jeff Atwood
gaming is the only room populated 24/7. you guys are hardcore. :)
user15026
Because I never feel like cooking after Saturday work
I never feel like cooking so I just heat up frozen stuff :P Luckily Trader Joe's is right next to my apartment and has great frozen offerings
23:07
@twobugs trader joes is great
i'm surprised they let you in
being a fan of the most terrible zelda game
You're not even trying
user15026
@twobugs Trader Joe's is one of those things that is mythical to me, like Girl Scout cookies
yeah i know
i'm sorry @twobugs
i'll troll better
@GnomeSlice I do that every time
You're italian!
23:10
@AshleyNunn I think there's a place in Vancouver called "Pirate Joe's" where the guy just buys Trader Joe's stuff in America and drives across the border :P
It's weird how they refuse to open any Canadian stores
@GnomeSlice I didn't know it was a typically Italian thing to say "you too [enjoy your meal]" to the delivery guy
user15026
@twobugs I am so very far from Vancouver :(
What is trader joes?
user15026
@twobugs Yeah, you'd think they'd make mad money
@badp I'm saying you should know better!
23:11
@GnomeSlice I almost never took delivery in Italy
@GnomeSlice Specialty grocery store. They're kinda midscale but they carry a lot of their own brands and stuff you generally can't find elsewhere
@badp I guess that makes sense
They're actually owned by one of the Aldi companies (there are two Aldi companies, both German, Aldi North and Aldi South)
I don't remember which one runs Trader Joe's but the other one runs the Aldi chain in North America
so it looks like ill win my fantasy draft, even though i dont have the best team by a long shot
@twobugs i've never heard of aldi
23:13
I have, though not in Munich I don't think
i just got lucky that every team i faced underperformed that week
so, i won by a series of fortunate events
@GodEmperorDune I think they're pretty new to America, but they're an older German chain
(I read a lot about Trader Joe's on Wikipedia one day)
I also know that Trader Joe's had caviar so cheap they were accused of it being black market caviar. That's pretty hilarious.
what a patch
trader joes dominates here in LA. there was a supermarket strike in the mid 2000s where all the other chains closed for a few months but trader joes stayed open because they actually paid their people well
a lot of people found TJs during that time and never went back
@GodEmperorDune a few months?!
23:16
The Southern California supermarket strike of 2003–2004 was a labor strike by the United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW) against four supermarket chains in Southern California. Management and the unions arrived at a contract after twenty weeks, with both sides claiming victory. == Overview == On the labor side, the primary party was the United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW), although deli workers were represented by UNITE HERE and also struck. On the management side, it involved the supermarket chain companies Albertsons (then an independent company), Ralphs (owned by Kroger...
user15026
They're one of those places where it's probably all built up in my head and the stuff isn't all that awesome necessarily but blogs and stuff that review their stuff always make it sound like a magical food wonderland
> with both sides claiming victory.
thaaaaaat's politics!
@AshleyNunn no it literally is a food wonderland
i've eaten most of what they have and there are only a handful of things i didn't like
@GodEmperorDune they do tend to be a bit pricier than other places, but most of the stuff they have is good quality
@badp Haha, to be fair NIS is like a super low budget dev. They probably have 2 or 3 people supporting it at most
23:19
I appreciate the honesty
@Dragonrage food prices on most other things have risen to the point where it's not as big a gap as it used to be
btw i foiled @fredley's porkchat.
its like a cheaper whole foods but about the same quality level
I remember being really sad when I bought some Trader Joe's pre-cooked shrimp and it was just kinda tasteless and bland when I heated it up
But that's about the only thing
@twobugs did you put sauce on it?
23:20
their pineapple juice is fantastic
Oh, some of their bottled sauces aren't so great. Which is shocking because they actually have really good precooked stuff
@Dragonrage Yeah. I used their red curry sauce I think? Which is also kinda flavorless.
@twobugs How on earth do you make curry of all things flavorless?
@twobugs i havent tried that one.
RIGHT????
It's like dehydrated water.
23:22
It's weird because they have really good frozen Indian stuff so I was like "Ah, their curry sauce must be great"
@Yuuki too many spices compete and end up canceling each other out
i've done that before
user15026
At least @worldengineer is gonna mail me girl scout cookies so I can scratch that particular want off of my bucket list
user15026
(yes my bucket list is mostly food and trains)
@AshleyNunn I see nothing wrong with this
@GodEmperorDune Curry doesn't need a lot of spices. Like literally three at most. It just so happens that those three spices tend to be very flavorful.
23:23
My Steam product queue seems to regularly break
user15026
@twobugs They're two of the things that make me happiest. (Well, trains kinda also encompasses mass transit in general, but trains are teh best kind of mass transit. Subway trains, railway trains, they're all good)
Trains are awesome and I wish America had better railroads :(
wasn't america literally built with a railroad
or was that canada
The railroad was a big factor in settling the western coast
Trains were a major part of American expansion, yes.
23:25
then cars happened
In fact, railroad barons played the major role in what's now called The Gilded Age.
But nowadays passenger rail is second fiddle to freight rail, and even then the infrastructure is aging and not amazing.

Q: Call of duty: bo3 bullets taking so long to be counted as hits

Cameron.COn multiplayer on bo3 If i use the kuda or the hvk-30 for example, I would go and shoot someone but it seem to take 0.5-1.5 seconds for the hitmarkers to appear. Is this my internet being slow or teryarch's servers being slow and laggy. By the way my ping is 20-50ms and my ps4 is wireless. (I can...

Hmm... I wonder if we're in a second Gilded Age right now?
I've taken the train before, it can be nice if you're in the "sweet spot" of about a 5 hour trip. Takes roughly the same amount of time all said and done as it would to fly, and generally far cheaper
user15026
23:27
@twobugs Me too. Although I like subways. Me and a friend are working on going on all the TTC lines. (although it's pretty small, as far as subway lines go, but it's still fun)
At least the trains I took never seemed to reach more than about 50 mph. Very low speed rail
user15026
(TTC being Toronto transit commission)
That's cool! My city is pretty small so they only have busses, but I like our bus system (aside from the random gotchas they have)
we have some metros here, but the dont have a metro line going from my house to my work
metro is a grocery store here
user15026
23:29
@twobugs Yeah, KW only has buses (we are building LRT right now tho), but Toronto has buses and subways and BEST OF ALL it has streetcars!
if i want to take the metro, i would go from san bernardino county to la, then back to orange county
user15026
(I looooove streetcars almost more than trains)
Streetcars are great!
user15026
(sorry I could talk transit for a while, I really like it.)
You should get a job in transit :P It'd be great to have someone passionate about it!
23:30
I was just about to suggest that
Just not customer support because that will make you not like it
Customer support seems like it would make you hate anything
user15026
@twobugs I'd love that so much tbh
So Anonymous, or people claiming to be Anonymous, claim to have released Donald Trump's personal information. What they hope to accomplish with this is... unclear.
If you want to expose a candidate, opening them up to identity theft is not a wise idea.
@twobugs but how tremendous is the information?
@twobugs like how trump doxxed that senator's personal phone number?
He did that? Classy.
23:33
@twobugs not sure who would want to steal trump's identity though
Or Scooter Libby (I think it was him) revealed an active CIA agent because her husband was critical of the W. Bush administration?
yeah, he was having some disagreement so he gave the number out at one of his rallies and told his supporters to call it
user15026
O.o
Like why would you want to pretend to be Trump?
i think i found the identity thief

Q: Kerbal Space Program Antennae

SomeoneIn my current version of the game (1.05) if I have a Communotron 88-88 extended and use it to transmit data, it will automatically retract and thenceforth be unable to be re-extended since the required button will be missing from the right-click menu. Is there a way to either keep it extended or ...

@AshleyNunn cmon, let us borrow him for like 4 years
8 tops
I'm convinced he's actually going to do a very good job
Even 'bad' Canadian politicians are still pretty good though.
user15026
@GodEmperorDune Noooope. He's ours and he is pretty fantastic and you can't have him.
23:38
Even bad American politicians... er... aren't... Hitler or Stalin?
@AshleyNunn Would you be okay if we took a genetic sample and maybe cloned him later on down the line?
@Powerlord give him time
BIRTHDAY DINNER
user15026
@Yuuki Maaaybe
(soon)
@Powerlord Except Trump.
He's almost there, and he's not even elected yet.
23:40
@Frank I was going to say that, but I got distracted.
@Unionhawk grats
@Frank trump is more mussolini than hitler
#pedantry
Mind you, I blame The Bridge for this despite no one on The Bridge ever mentioning Trimps to me.
@Frank dont blame him, blame the toupee
@Frank I'll be the first one to admit Trump would probably be the worst president ever but I at least have to give him the benefit of not having yet committed genocide.
or berlusconi if we are going into italian politicians
user15026
23:41
Hm. So far, the only downside to going back to Canadian Netflix is I need to find a different way to finish watching DS9
It's an incremental, so it must be The Bridge's fault
@GodEmperorDune Eh. It's close.
@Yuuki Key word: Yet.
He's certainly working his way towards it.
@AshleyNunn but daredevil is out now!
That said, he's the absolute best thing that could happen to Canada, short term.
user15026
@GodEmperorDune I've not watched that
23:42
@Frank trump?
@GodEmperorDune ive watched the first episode so far
user15026
@Frank How do you even.....
@GodEmperorDune Yep.
user15026
Okay, that's logic I don't follow
because the rest of the world will be a smoking ruin and canada will pick up the pieces?
23:42
@AshleyNunn He'll crater the US so hard, Canada will be awesome.
@AshleyNunn We could just annex Oregon.
@Frank i'm sure we'll drag you down it us
Long term, the whole planet is nuclear wasteland, because Trump.
Maybe Minnesota too.
@Frank You realize that if Trump becomes President, he'll control the US Military? Which would stop Canada from taking over.
Well, unless all our armed forces decide to surrender.
user15026
23:43
@Frank I don't think that's how it works
@Powerlord We'd even ask nicely!
@Powerlord Well that's why Canada has to act now
... I would actually welcome Skynet being created before the November election.
@AshleyNunn The policies he would enact would ruin the US' economy to the point our dollar would be fantastic, we'd have US refugees, and we'd be in a bit of an industrial renaissance.
Of course, that only lasts until he loses his temper and launches a nuke.
Then we're all done.
user15026
@Frank I highly doubt US people will be able to declare refugee status
23:44
@Frank except that the world economy is so tightly coupled that if the US tanks, everyone else goes down too
as we saw in 2008
what would happen if all candidates running presidential nomination were simultaneously assasinated?
user15026
(although I suppose that would making getting @worldengineer here easier)
user15026
@GodEmperorDune This
@GodEmperorDune Well, there's a reason that China stopping pinning the yuan to USD
@AshleyNunn Wasn't there some news back that Canada wouldn't accept US citizens as refugees if Trump was elected?
user15026
23:44
@Dragonrage There are likely backup plans
@AshleyNunn I dunno...many of the things he's saying means Muslims would probably claim persecution.
I still think he'd get assassinated.
user15026
@Frank Yes, but it's a process and I don't see it being as easy as "trump won save me"
user15026
at least not for a good while after
@AshleyNunn No, it won't be.
23:45
@GnomeSlice i'm still surprised that obama hasn't been assassinated. there are a lot of very angry, hateful people who think he is single handedly responsible for all of their problems
user15026
all these people who are like "I will just move to canada" - guys, I have an American SO, we are trying to do this thing - rest assured, I've researched - it takes time and money and we don't just let anyone in
Most of what I'm seeing is that Trump is so bad, Americans will flee their own country to get away.
i actually wrote a paper as to why anything that disrupts the usa economy will disrupt the world economy
@Frank Most of them won't.
@GodEmperorDune I'm sure there's been attempts but the Secret Service is apparently actually competent when they're not being distracted by Colombian strippers.
23:46
That doesn't engender much confidence in someone who wants to run the most powerful country in the world.
@Yuuki or that time the ptsd guy hopped the fence and ran inside the white house before they got him
user15026
There are three real ways right now - get a job to sponsor you, get family to sponsor you (or marry a Canadian), or use the fast track entry thing but that just puts you in a pool of people for job stuff and gets you less choice in where/how you end up here
user15026
(and all of those take time and money)
user15026
(sorry, this is a sore point, for me, because, well.)
@AshleyNunn waiting? an american? well i never
user15026
23:48
@GnomeSlice Yeah, most of them won't - they'll just complain about it liek they did when the US does anything people don't like because people just think Canada is a magic resolution to all their problems
@AshleyNunn maybe its because you have maple syrup
user15026
@Dragonrage So does Vermont
@AshleyNunn canadian is better
@GodEmperorDune also vermont is rather small compared to canada
so canada has more
user15026
@GodEmperorDune Probably :) I get mine usually from local people so I don't know :P
23:49
Pizza is here!
@AshleyNunn I'm sorry I want to be Canadian.
user15026
(Seriously, come sap flow you see stands ALL OVER THE PLACE with people selling it
@AshleyNunn Did you ever play Cities in Motion? Seems like you might really like it
I only played 1 (I own 2, its on my backlog) but 1 is... well, it's for transportation enthusiasts :P
user15026
@Coronus Oh, you're more than welcome, but just...you can't just show up :P (I wish, though. Then I would just buy the huge Victorians for sale near the park that are like a bajillion dollars but have like a bajillon bedrooms and invite you lot all to come live here)
user15026
@twobugs my problem is I like trains and buses and streetcars but I am horrendous at planning
23:50
It's one of the most brutal games I've ever played. First level is like, early 20th century Berlin and you have to completely redesign the transit network
@twobugs if only you had a PhD at playing games
I have a PhD in playing video games, NOT transit planning!
@twobugs There's a game for that!
A jury awarded Hulk Hogan $115m. o_o
user15026
@Fluttershy For?
23:54
@Fluttershy wat
@AshleyNunn Gawker Media released a video of him cheating on his wife.
> The retired wrestler Hulk Hogan was awarded $115 million in damages Friday by a Florida jury in an invasion of privacy case against Gawker.com over its publication of a sex tape.
Let me start by saying Gawker is 100% and completely in the wrong
But... WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A SEXTAPE OF CHEATING ON YOUR WIFE?????
@twobugs i would make a joke with some hulk hogan saying, but i don't know any
@twobugs Allegedly, he didn't know it was being recorded.
23:57
@Fluttershy That makes a lot of sense. And it just makes the whole case even crazier
@Fluttershy This one's conflicting, it seems.
Not sure anyone's in the right on this one.
legally, hogan
@Frank Hogan is morally wrong for cheating on his spouse with his friend's wife. But Gawker is legally in the wrong.
And morally.
@GnomeSlice and morally?
@Fluttershy It...depends.
If he knew he was being taped, he has no standing.
23:58
@Coronus Probably not, but that's not relevant to his case.
@Frank No, he still would. Because he didn't give Gawker permission to release the tape.
@Fluttershy He doesn't have to.
@twobugs as I understand it.. he was sleeping with his best friend's wife while his best friend secretly taped it.
If whoever filmed it released it, that's on them, not Gawker.
