Then it would be "a ewbuntoo". But if you were to pronounce it "oo-boon-too" (which is the original pronunciation), it would be "an oo-boon-too".
@Aequitas always an
an ewwbuntu
user15026
@Aequitas Vowel sound at the start = "an"
I know the rule it's a matter of I didn't know that was the pronunciation
English is weird, and made-up words are weirder
@AshleyNunn The issue is that it can be pronounced with a starting vowel or consonant sound
@Unionhawk urmom is weirder
cc @shouldiblamewipqozn
23:05
@Unionhawk It's African, not made-up
Okay then, well either way the pronunciation is ambiguous
You know what isn't ambiguous? The fact that the Nintendo Wii U is a good video game console.
@twobugs Fact.
23:21
@Unionhawk yeh this, it's made up for one, and secondly i've only seen it written

@Unionhawk It's African, not made-up
user15026
Theoretically, there should be a canonical way to say it.
@murgatroid99 i thought this was common knowledge
@AshleyNunn i see what you did there
(for those missing the refrance, canonical is the company that produces ubuntu)
user15026
Ha, nice, I didn't even know that.
user15026
But I mean whoever made the thing has to refer to it somehow in meetings, right?

Q: What does economy do in Bloons TD Battles?

sensiwooI watched some people play and I noticed that there is "economy". What does it do? Does it increase the money you get?

Q: What is the correct pronunciation of 'Ubuntu'?

kriegarI have never been good at deciphering the pronunciation guides: ubuntu |oǒ'boǒntoō| What is the best way to describe the pronunciation with like sounding words for each syllable? "oǒ": ? "boǒn": like Boone as in Daniel or like bun as in hamburger? "toō": like too as in also?

I sidestep that problem entirely by saying "That distro people look down on you for using"
@twobugs mint?
ducks
@twobugs People actually look down on you for using Ubuntu? It's one of the only usable distros out there
user15026
Okay, then we are definitely working with a vowel sound, which means in writing/speaking, it would be "an"
23:31
@murgatroid99 all the hardcore greybeards using LFS
Maybe it's just personal experience, but whenever I talk about Ubuntu there's multiple people who are each That Guy
user15026
(If someone just did an IPA translation of the sounds, it would be so much easier!)
Who say "Heh. Ubuntu? Go back to windoze!"
@GodEmperorDune Only those who have mastered the Thu'um can use it
(I did just)
@AshleyNunn speaking of IPAs, hi @LessPop_MoreFizz
23:32
I didn't know robotics was advanced enough to make a machine capable of spite:
(If you ever seriously say "windoze" you are a bad person)
@twobugs I don't think that's common. Most people want to spend their time using their computers, not configuring them
@twobugs see also: Micro$oft, Crapple, etc.
@GodEmperorDune I was going to say "IPA translation sounds delicious"
@LessPop_MoreFizz Also yes
23:34
@murgatroid99 That's reassuring. It had given me a pretty negative impression of the Linux community, but it sounds like that was completely unwarranted.
user15026
@Unionhawk You've obviously never dealt with actual IPA translation. (I know the joke you are making, but man, lost so many marks in Linguistics because I apparently put my tongue in all the wrong places in my mouth to make word sounds, and thus translate sounds wrong.)
@AshleyNunn I haven't, no. Actually doing that as a thing sounds awful.
@twobugs On the other hand, just about anyone who feels differently than I described will probably be in the Linux community, because that's where they can find Gentoo and xorg and fun stuff like that
@AshleyNunn IPA translation is where the upside down e comes into the picture?
user15026
@Unionhawk It pretty much is.
user15026
23:36
@GodEmperorDune It's a schwa, but yes.
@AshleyNunn schwa
dammit i can't think of a joke about that
"schwat", possibly
iunno
ya
this is tough
Like, that possibly is even sub-@Wipqozn tier
cc @Wipqozn we need a pun for schwa
23:43
@GodEmperorDune Schwat
@LessPop_MoreFizz that is schwlame
@GodEmperorDune Schwatever
@LessPop_MoreFizz much better
@LessPop_MoreFizz @LessPop_MoreFizz has got this
See, I should have just been more confident
23:48
@Unionhawk yeah i don't know schwat you were thinking
YOU FUCKING AGREED WITH ME THAT THIS IS MORE TOUGH THAN THAT
You need to spend less time Schwandering if your puns are any good and just throw them out there.
@Unionhawk schwat can i say, @LessPop_MoreFizz is much better at this
@Unionhawk there, have a pity star
@GodEmperorDune I'm just getting Schwarmed up here.
I was thinking about Schwarma for dinner, but not really hungry yet, and i still have some leftover pizza that's gonna get trashed if it doesn't get eaten by tomorrow morning.
user15026
That reminds me I need to toss the leftover pizza I have.

Q: Building a state machine

MysteryI'm building an singleplayer adventure map, and need a bunch of "Flags"(a few hundred maybe), which are basically variables to indicate, whether the player has visited certian places/killed enemies, etc. I can think of two ways to do this: Scoreboard objectives Blocks at specific positions ...
