@spugsley I found that water can be much colder than I thought after Canyoning a while ago. The streams in the mountains get really, really cold. You have a Neopren suit of course, staying in there without just wouldn't work

@fredley I took some photos with a Nikon 50mm a long time ago, it wasn't digital back then. It's very nice, but for my amateur needs in the end it's too annoying to carry multiple lenses and switch them. If you're serious about the whole thing, this is of course entirely different

@MadScientist I have 18-55 and a 75-300 lenses and I find that regardless of which lens I have on, I always find that I need the other one for something

it's quite annoying

and god forbid you leave the house thinking "oh I'm not gonna need lens X, because I won't be shooting anything that needs it, so I'll leave it at home"

@Chippies That's pretty much the lenses I had for my first SLR, the big zoom is nice, but you're always low on light and there are many situations where it doesn't work.
