Q: Am I able to duplicate launchboxes?

ZaibisReading this question: Is your vault saved locally or in the cloud? made me ask my self: What would prevent me from just buying 1 time a set of lunchboxes and duplicating the save file to spread out to friends or retry untill my lunchbox outcome is what i expect as worthy?

@twobugs Assuming it changed Tuesday, I don't think so
I've only done Nightfall twice ever, but I did do last weeks.
@Lazers2.0 I now imaging attaching a lunchbox to some rocket engines in KSP and trying to send that into space
12:24
@PrivatePansy The type of lunchboxes that contains rockets and (legendary) humans?
Or that's what I've gathered from the fallout shelter talks going on in here.
@Arperum Does that make it a Launchbox?
@PrivatePansy I don't know, I haven't played Fallout shelter. If you launch a human into space with a rocketlauncher, I'd say it sounds like you could call it that.
@GnomeSlice Yeah, it changes Tuesday. It's worth doing because it grants you a 25% exp and reputation gain for the rest of the week (particularly good with Iron Banner)
Yeah I know, but I don't really care that much about progressing as fast as possible.
If I have enough people online to invite for it I'll try it, but without matchmaking it's pretty annoying.
I always use destinylfg.com and get invited within a minute or two
And I usually make a new friend or two :)
Ugh, IT is making me reboot my computer.
12:29
I add people I have a good time playing with.
People keep telling me to use LFG but eh
What game are you playing @GnomeieBear?
Right now? Nothing.
We were talking about Destiny.
Oh, is it your destiny to finish that game?
THE JOKE, YOU SEE, IS THE GAME IS CALLED DESTINY AND I USED DESTINY IN SENTENCE ABOUT THAT GAME
LAUGH AT MY COMEDIC BRILLIANCE
LAUGH AT IT I SAY
ARE YOU ALL LAUGHING?
I'LL ASSUME YES. GOOD.
I AM PROUD OF ALL OF YOU. ESPECIALLY @PrivatePansy
Man, tough crowd tonight. Normally you guys and gals would all be telling me how awesome I am right about now.
@GnomeSlice I like it, I use it for anything I want to do if my friends aren't on. I've made a few friends recently who play a lot though so it's less of an issue (although I did meet them through LFG...)
We just kind of screw around while still getting stuff done. Very fun.
Fine, I see how it iis.
I'LL JUST TAKE MY BALL AND LEAVE
come on @GnomeSlice, let's blow this Popsicle stand.
12:38
it's too early in the morning to deal with @Wipqozn
Therer we go.
That's better.
I'm still leaving though, since I actually do need to get back to work.

Q: What are these thumbs up?

Mathias711What are the thumbs up in my collection in Don't get Fired? What do they do?

Also I move in a few days. I still need to pack.
Maybe tonight.
NOw all listen to that while I'm gone
When I return I want 500 word essay on why Bach was a rad dude.
Man, I'm not sure why I'm feeling so wacky today.
I blame CSS.
Maybe that hot chocolate had caffeine in it. That would be terrible.
@Wipqozn No can do. I'm listening to some Canadian black/folk metal-band called Trollband
12:41
@Arperum that's acceptable.
@Wipqozn Yup, they've made it to the list of stuff I want to see, after listening to them for an hour or two.
@Wipqozn Beethoven 4 lyfe.

Q: Safe place to download Emulator and Iso's

user3163829What is the safest (no malware whatsoever if such a guarantee can be made) place to download the dolphin emulator. And what is also the safest place to download iso's like super smash bros melee.

I'm very confused right now. we have 107 values in the french resource files that do not exist in the dutch (default) languagefile.
@Wipqozn yup and 5000 out of pocket
TODAY IN JOB SHENANIGANS
12:54
@Wipqozn Bach did good music. (+496 words about cherry soda)
I was told to show up to the school at 7:00 for set up, Faculty group shot at 8:00. My manager told me he'd meet me there. At 7:20, I still don't see him. I text him. He texts back "Oh, Nick should be there instead, I can't make it." (one of my coworkers). My manager must look at the clock and then he calls me. "Isn't it 7:30?" I say yes. "And Nick isn't there?!" I tell him I don't see his car. Now mind you, I'll still training
@spugsley ~Someone (Nick) is getting fired~
Manager tells me that I'll have to do it myself and to hurry. I say, okay I will manage.
@Yuuki no he isn't. There's more
@spugsley Oh my.
So I unload my car.
I go to the office.
I say "I'm the photographer today". Everyone in the office is so confused.
They ask, "Photographer for what?"
And I say, faculty group shot.
They say, we just did that. There's a young man in the gym and we're already finished.
Nick was there. The time was actually setup at 6:30, picture at 7:30
So I look like an idiot. I have to reload my car. I call my manager and tell him he's the absolutely worst in the most professional way that I can.
12:57
So, there wasn't a notice as to where you guys would meet, just "at school"?
Nick wasn't even told I was meeting him and training with him
(Plus, he got the time wrong)
he was just told an entirely different time as me
@spugsley Wow, this company sounds like a massive clusterf--k.
it really really really is
12:58
Wow, that's a whole new level of disorganization
and I want to be mad
but it's just so hilarious
@Yuuki That reminds me of some essay I had to write once because I got into a fight with some stupid kid that kept bullying me. I had to fill three pages or something ridiculous with why I had hit him. It resulting in me listing three pages of reasons all formatted like "I hit X because reason." With reasons like "he's an annoying brat"
and so my manager calls me and apologizes profusely. He says "I know you don't like this kind of stuff" (talking about lack of communication which I've already had a conversation about with him)
and I tell him that NO ONE likes "this kind of stuff"
@twobugs Sounds like another day at the army to me
@spugsley people who like to see the world burn do
12:59
But of course this isn't the army
so he asks me if it will make it up to me if he pays me the training rate for today even though I was only there for 45 mins. I say okay. Because that means I got paid 85 dollars to sit in traffic and sit in a parking lot
user15026
Well, at least that's good
You know what's wrong with this code? Everything
flips table
Seems everyone's having a bad day today.
13:02
@RonanForman i'm not
@RonanForman This is day three of cleaning out a project with loads of bad code.
My company is trying to put up a Little Free Library and has spent months dealing with trying to get permits and jump through other bureaucratic hoops for it
Currently I'm running into things like having components, who are supposed to be reusable, contain links to the pages where they are used.
user15026
Wait what? Bureaucratic hoops for a Little Free Library?
Last week my manager said "please oh please give me one more week" after I tried to quit and swore it would be better and then this happens. I'm starting to think it's just him. I don't understand how he can have 20 years in the business, 10 as a manager and screw up so profoundly with communicating. And he only has 3 employees. He just added to more to his team. They are in training now. I have no idea how in the hell he'll manage
13:04
why do you need a permit to put a box of books on your property?
> Crime, homelessness and crumbling infrastructure
... Seriously?
user15026
@spugsley I have learned that being a manager does not guarantee good communication skills.
> The city pays out millions of dollars in trip-and-fall settlements every year, and last time I checked, tree-trimming was on a 45-year cycle
@AshleyNunn From what I've learned, managers only have the "blame others" skill.
@Rapitor Because bureaucracy
user15026
13:14
I am glad my city has been cool with LFL's so far. (we have quite a few around)
My new job has a Little Free Library. It had the original Dragonlance trilogy in it. Warmed my heart.
ECMAScript 6 is going to add classes to javascript. Yay
and locally scoped variables
hooray
Old news.
More excited about the arrow operator, to be honest
The class syntax should only be syntax sugar, last I remember
@Sterno The nice thing is that the transpilers seem to be working very well, so you don't have to wait until everyone implemented the new stuff
@PrivatePansy Yes, but very nice sugar.
13:20
@5pike exactly. My manager blamed the school and said they "changed the time"
If it saves me from having to do var that = this;, I'm happy. Because doing that always makes me want to hit someone
which has nothing to do with Nick being there and never getting told I'd be there too
@spugsley His excuse isn't even logical. If they changed the time, he should have known that when you were talking to him at 7:20
Classes do not hoist, unlike functions, hmmm
Logic is not a strong suit of managers
13:21
@spugsley Man, if the school knows how to change time, I feel like this is technology that they should release to the public.
That's an odd bit of non-compatibility
@Sterno yup, he's a lying lie face
To be honest I've never understood what was the point of hoisting in the first place
Ouch. Angry Birds developer to lay off 1/3 of their employees. Guess that bubble has burst.
Hoisting is for sailors
13:25
@Yuuki I really want to know what was happening before it was edited. Why is everyone running away?
@spugsley That is another required manager skill.
@SaintWacko Commercial.
@Yuuki Ohhh
Okay
@GnomeSlice And pirates.
Although I guess "sailors" is the superset for "pirates".
I don't know about this. I feel like I've already invested so much time/effort at this point that quitting would be irritating. But I'm also the kind of person who just sticks with something because conflict sucks and I don't want to look back in ten years and still be at this job lol
13:27
@spugsley You should grill your manager. Take him to task. "How does it feel to be a liar, with pants constantly on fire?"
@Yuuki p̛͏̧̲͖̞̞͙͍h͏͎̤̭͙̱'̴̪͙̞ͅń̴̟͔̪̻̮͈͔g҉̣̰̝̟ĺ͇̺̱̤̱̭͖͟ù̷͇̦̮͖͞ì̸̝̖̞̘̀ ̵̛̹͔͎́m̸͓̩̳͖̳g̭̣̼͉͖̹̱l̵̥̤̘͟w̡̹͍'̷̙̘͙̼̳̀ǹ̰̞̩à̝̰̗͡͝f̷̙̮͎͡h̴̹͉̣͡ ̠̤̬́͟͠ͅC̼̭͎͠ṱ̢͓̤̮͍̪̰͕̘́h̯͇̙̠ų̵̡̹̺͉̣͇̭̼̜ĺ̢̙̦͓̼h̯̳̳͘͢ͅu҉̯͚͟ ͕͓͟͞͡R̛͚͈̮̜͘͞'̴̹͎́͝l͍ý͏̳̳͇̻ͅe̴̼̼h̛̼̦̹̤̩̟͠͝ͅ ͙̩̀͢w̸͙̹̯͓̤͚g͚̠͔̥̀͡͡a̯̰̮͚̣͉̻͇͡͠h͝͏͔͚̙̠̹͓̗ͅ'̷̴͇̤̣̥̖n͚͞͝a̼̣̫̟g̦̩̥̻̟̰l̻͘ ̶̛͖̟̜͔̲̥̕f̨̨̳͉̱̣̦̕h̥̥͇̘̥̹͍͔͟͡ͅț̸͇͕́à̴̪̪̬̺ģ̵̜͎̞̺n͓͕̮̘̠̮͕̱

> A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a man below. He descended a bit more and shouted,

"Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man below replied, "You are in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."

"You must be an engineer," said the balloonist.

"I am," replied the man, "How did you know?"
@TimStone I saw that on google news. It's terrifying.
13:32
Divinity: Original Sin 2 kickstarter just went up
lol agar.io flag
I still haven't gotten around to Original Sin 1. I heard it's quite good, though.
@Sterno I can't condone "Original" Sin 2.
Original has apparently lost all meaning.
AUGRHGJGDHFG.
13:34
@TimStone The anchor's reaction seems remarkably calm
I mean, what else would they name it? Divinity: Second Sin?
Apparently the reason why my database query is now returning nothing is because the properties in the base class were changed.
And now it doesn't match the property names I have in my local test database.

> Burger King is now part of a Canadian-based company called Restaurant Brands International
13:37
@Rapitor I'm not sure if this is an amazing or terrible idea.
Okay, now everything makes sense.
@twobugs it's amazingly terrible
@Sterno I applied for an internship at Larian once. I failed at the second step.
So, cardboard with flamegrilled cardboard? (Note: I've never eaten burgers at either place)
> [...] it merged the burger chain with Tim Hortons, a Canadian restaurant chain.
13:39
@KevinvanderVelden you're missing out ona very special kind of regret, the burgers don't taste bad at all, they are rather tasty... but you will feel like death
Burger King has merged with Tim Hortons
@KevinvanderVelden As I've said with Domino's pizza, it's good convenience food. It's all about what you're looking for out of a burger.
There are those that said this day would never come. What are they to say now?
@Yuuki mostly? Meat
Whataburger is still the best burger chain in the US though, so go there if you have the option.
13:40
i didn't really like whataburger... five guys or fuddruckers is much better
@Yuuki I am not remotely near the US
@KevinvanderVelden Burgerking didn't make me sick the one time I ate over there. McDonalds did, multiple times (fuck other people who want fastfood and there not being anything else in reach).
The only fast food that ever really makes me sick is Panda Express
@Rapitor McDonalds burgers are not tasty. They taste literally like plastic.
Always feel nauseous after eating there
13:42
@Arperum if they tasted bad they wouldn't be nearly as successful as they are.
@Rapitor Five Guys is waaaay too pricy for the quality of their burgers.
@Rapitor Maybe because I'm used to eating actual quality meat all my life?
@Arperum Quality horse meat?
@Yuuki Maybe. Not sure, Quality goat, sheep, pig and cow for certain though.
And chicken and other birds.
13:44
@Yuuki hm, idk. they are definitely pricy yeah, but they are damn good too
@StrixVaria facedesks on his next comment
@Arperum Agreed, though I think it tastes more like cardboard.
@StrixVaria I'm thoroughly convinced this guy is trolling by now
@5pike At the very least it feels like you are chewing plastic.
I mean... this is the exact same thing as before.
13:46
@twobugs Pretty sure it's just stupid.
@Arperum That is also possible. I feel like there might be an element of language barrier that is keeping him from fully grasping it as well.
@Arperum McDonalds is not food. It's a substance to carry sugar and other flavour enhancers.
@StrixVaria Pretty sure he's willfully being a complete f--king idiot.
Their products is so full of the stuff that it does not even rot
@5pike It's a place I avoid. Simple as that. I do not eat it at all.
13:48
@Arperum Yeah. Thc McCoffee thing they have is good, though.
Well, the fact that he's also posting videos where he tops the leaderboard suggests he's trolling.
He clearly knows how the scoring works.
@5pike I'm not a coffe drinker, so doesn't need that.
@twobugs He mostly seems to be blind for the difference between a topscoring song and a song with a lot of overhitted notes.
If a post is locked, does that prevent comments? I hope it prevents comments.
> comments disabled on deleted / locked posts / reviews
I think if a user is deleted it prevents comments
13:51
@Arperum I don't see how you can do that to such a degree unintentionally, though.
I mean, his top score vs his posted one is seriously a factor of 3.
@5pike Then the drama was just cut short, thankfully.
He had to be breaking his streak constantly.
I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt but too many things point towards maliciousness, IMO.
@twobugs Not pay attention to that part of the UI/whatever (don't even know what game this is about). And being really ignorant and stupid.
@twobugs And a bit self-promotion :P

Q: How to get the high score leaderboard Rock Band?

Trias PoliticaIn Rock Band 3 song "Love struck baby", how do I get a higher score for the "improvise (solo)" part? I kept the highest multiplier during the entire song and played 100% flawless. I tried 3 different things during the solo part to make the best score (like adding double base) but the score stayed...

I know the answer to this question.
But I seriously don't want to get involved again.
13:53
@Arperum Rock Band.
@twobugs Never played it, so doesn't really help :p
@Arperum You of all people have never played Rock Band?
Ah, well basically it's a music game. You hit notes, build up a combo. Hitting a note when there is no note drops your combo.
Having a high combo gives you a multiplier to note score
@StrixVaria Nope.
@StrixVaria what is the answer, out of curiosity? Does Rock Band 3 still have the drum fill segments? (I've only played 1)
13:56
I grew up in a house without a tv, the first computer entered the house late nineties. The first console/handheld whatever was the ds I got from my ex.
If it does, I imagine he just isn't maximizing the points from those
@twobugs I know the concept, just never played the game so I don't know how it's shown.
ALso: that guy seems to be in full on braggingmode. Seriously. noone cares that you are number X on the worldranking.
Well initially it was "I AM THE BEST DRUMMER EVER! I HIT 100% OF THE NOTES BUT MY SCORE SUCKS!!! WHY IS THIS!!!!"
@Arperum Word
I'm ranked number one in Rock Band drumming in my house!
13:59
Hoisting is for sailors
@TimStone You should have never linked that. My mind is stuck on it. :(
@GnomeSlice Pretty sure you've said that before. Did chat remember your message?
@GnomeSlice You, sir, are hoisted.
(not the video, just the story in general)
Phone just being dumb
14:00
@5pike I feel like removing his video and both of the pictures in that new question.
But he'll probably just readd them.
@Arperum .. you need to come over here so we can play it
@KevinvanderVelden Maybe I should.
@Wipqozn That is atypical.
We'll invite @FAE and @Jochem and @badp if he moves to the netherlands and have a Arqade band!
5
I just had an MRI and it was like $900. Before insurance.
14:03
@twobugs Yes, the answer is that you have to use the correct "path" (i.e. hit the last green note on the correct fills, this isn't always the soonest one depending on whether there's a really dense section of notes) and that you can actually get bonus points by hitting an invisible note at the same time as the final green note of the fill, if you have memorized what that note is.
My wife had a baby, which involved a 3 day hospital stay and them cutting her open to get the baby out, and that was less than $8k
It's whatever note would have been playing at that section of song if you hadn't had a fill there.
@Sterno isn't it also (somehow) more expensive if you don't have insurance?
@KevinvanderVelden Certainly.
@Sterno My hospital stay for having a baby was over $30,000.
14:04
@StrixVaria I see. That makes sense but sounds confusing until you have the song memorized.
@StrixVaria Before insurance, right?
I have insurance, so I didn't pay any of it, but that's still ludicrous.
@Sterno more like the price before insurance if you have insurance is less than the price you'd pay if you don't have insurance
That does seem like a crazy amount.
@twobugs I never bothered trying to eke out the most points using that extra-hit-an-invisible-note thingy.
14:05
@KevinvanderVelden Am I allowed to grunt at times? I like doing that.
To be fair, trying to get $30,000 out of a Seaking is just asking for a Horn Drill.
@Arperum Sure =p
@KevinvanderVelden Yes. That has to do with how insurance companies negotiate. "Give us good prices, or we'll not let our network go to you"
An individual does not have that leverage
I've got drums, 2 guitars and and a microphone
@StrixVaria 30k seems really insane
14:06
@Sterno sure, but that could explain the price diff
@Sterno I wonder if this is one of those costs that scales up based on where I live in the country, like house prices.
I have no experience with either of these insturments, but I know how to produce a lot of decibels with my voice. And sometimes these decibels even sound like they can hold a tone.
> While maternity expenses for insured moms might seem high, the numbers are far higher if you have no insurance at all. The Truven Report put the uninsured cost of having a baby at anywhere from $30,000 for an uncomplicated vaginal birth to $50,000 for a C-section.
If you're going to have a baby, get insurance, I guess
The microphone only does pitch recognition
You could buy a house for a baby
14:07
I'll ask my sister next week what she has to pay for staying at a hospital for having a baby.
Well an apartment
> A 2014 study by the University of California, San Francisco found that hospital charges for an uncomplicated vaginal delivery ranged from $3,296 to $37,227, depending on the hospital. For a C-section, costs ranged from $8,312 to nearly $71,000.
And, thankfully, you can do things by octave because there is no way I could do certain songs otherwise
They only differ by an order of magnitude!
Pretty sure she needs a C-section. As in: she will give birth on tuesday, and knows the exact date since yesterday.
//TODO googlestuffs
14:10
A huge problem in my mind is that you don't know what anything will cost until after you get it, typically
And if you're not paying attention, it's easy to go out of network
@Sterno Yes, this is insane.
Just found that in this code, with the needed google related things right under it. slaps past-me
I remember asking a doctor once how much a procedure would cost, and he just hand waved it away.
The doctors have no idea
(typically)
That's fair, but I bet I couldn't have gotten anyone to give me a number even if I kept pressing.
14:11
@StrixVaria Let's see - I need a new Lexus, so $60K.
@StrixVaria That's the insane part.
I mean, it's probably possible if you want to spend 2 months on the phone with your insurance company
At the same time, cutting a human being open, removing another human being from inside them safely, and putting them back together doesn't really seem like it's probably cheap, either.
I mean, $8k is someone hiring my company to give them 8-9 days of coding.
@twobugs Now if only it could do key change as well.
Does it do key change?
Maybe 10 days
Because there are some songs that I just can't sing well no matter what octave 'cause they're right on the bridge.
I think it just measures "This is the octave you were singing at previously, you moved up this much. The song also moved up this much, good job!"
14:15
Every minute I spend on The Bridge during work hours costs someone $1.83. Hrm. That's kind of awful.
Stuff costs more!
@Sterno I'm sorry. The world is horrible :(
Even at a family practice where my wife was one of 4 doctors, she had very little idea how much anything would cost, other than generally "these tests tend to be more expensive, or less likely to be covered by insurance, or whatever"
I didn't even realize until recently that pharmacies in the same town can have vastly different prices for the exact same drugs
Amoxicillin at Meijer? Free. At CVS? $12.
At Kroger? $4
@TimStone As an update to this, the suspect is believed to be a disgruntled employee and police are in pursuit now
14:21
@KevinvanderVelden I'll ring the bell.
(It's funnier in Italian)
@Yuuki I don't think so, but I only played RB1.
Man, now that I'm an adult I feel like I have to be more responsible with money. I can't be as wasteful with my computer builds.
oh. oh. wait. you don't mean an actual band, you mean Rock Band. Okay then, I'll operate the menus.
When I was younger and had more money and no expenses I would just buy top of the line stuff every few years (yes, I'm aware this is a very bad price/performance ratio)
But it was fun :(

Q: Mage Secret Duplicate interaction with AoE damage

Kim MinseoLet's take for example, enemy mage has Dr Boom at 2 health, and some other minions also at 2 health. She has a duplicate secret up. If I consecrate (deal 2 damage to all enemies) and kill all the enemy minions simulataneously, which minion would get duplicated?

Arg why do I have 1) a daily bandwidth cap at home and 2) a pair of >4GB downloads that I need
(I can download up to 4GB at home before the University throttles me to nearly zero)
@Unionhawk can you go around with your laptop connecting to university's public wifi?
On the academic networks, it's both fast and not counted against your cap, yes
I may do that
Laptop? That's what we have phones for nowadays =p
Well, I'll have to do that, one of these is 7 GB

@Arperum This sounds like one of those awful "figure out the pattern" puzzles that people put on facebook.
14:43

Oh hey, it's @Wipqozn
@StrixVaria "The pattern is that the poster is a complete asshole. I mean, what?"
@StrixVaria Except it's actual code. And I might have to figure out the actual pattern at some point, but right now I'm just going to ignore it for fear of breaking stuff.

@PrivatePansy I don't think I've seen that, but then again the English write "2.3" to mean 6 and not much can be worse than that
@twobugs Having spaces in your variable names is a terrible habit. Stop doing that.
@Unionhawk nuh
@badp The dot should be in the middle, actually
I mean. I don't know exactly who it is that uses '.' to mean multiplication. But it doesn't matter.
@PrivatePansy Yes, the dot should be in the middle.
14:51
oh shit i mortarboarded!
But some people put it at the bottom. Because they're bad. And they should feel bad.
Really?
I mean, it's indistinguishable from a decimal point
... instead of checking for null, this bloody moron decided to wrap the line of code in a try catch block to catch the InvalidOperationException that would cause. and do the thing you want when your value is null in the catch block.
14:53
@Arperum he's merely begging for forgiveness instead of asking for permission!
@Arperum sounds like python
isn't modulus '%' or even just 'mod(x, y)'
I think they don't want to write mod because its too long
@GodEmperorDune C#
And the percentage sign is too weird for them
14:55
@Arperum yeah that's crap then
ALL BECAUSE HE HAS A bool? value coming from the DB (why you would want a nullable boolean in your DB is beyond me if this whole thing is aimed at casting it to a normal boolean.
@Arperum I love taking a function like this and producing a mathematical function with the same properties, but is totally unfathomable.
@Arperum nullable bools are @uni level worst
@fredley this is why we can't have nice things
@fredley polynomial interpolation?
@badp Usually. This function looks hard though, due to the default.
14:59
with 10 points it should be a fairly good start for something that's technically correct and hard to compute properly, at least
@fredley you're still allowed to use cases syntax.
you just have to get creative in defining those 10 points
@fredley That default makes it look impossible unless you're using a piecewise function, but that's just cheating
