@OrigamiRobot I can't do online payments unless I have a checking account with the loan bank, and while I could have PNC send them a check each month I do variable over-payments (which is why being a little late isn't an issue, since I'm already several months in advance on payment)
Yeah but I would have had to have the foresight to have done that ahead of time so I could have gone to the dealership with loan in-hand and I failed ._.;
@OrigamiRobot I did a bit of yelling at my ISP; I had been overcharged for a significant portion of time, so they credited that difference to my account, and then got me a reduced rate for a few months. So that works out to roughly half a year's worth of internet, already paid for.
Right about the same time, I moved out of my parents and started paying rent and buying my own food, and started dating a woman with two kids, and before I figured out how to not spend money, my savings were gone
My former room mate got our service disconnected three times for non-payment because he was lazy and Comcast continued to allow him to reestablish service at a special non-published rate.
@Frank Yes. Bell upgraded our box a few years ago and it took multiple phone calls to UPS and Bell to get everything changed out. And I missed MNF twice.
Speaking of which, I'm going to be caught in traffic today leaving as today's the day they have the big parade when they light the state Christmas tree.
@Frank No... Wide Open West cable. Who still haven't fixed the mistakes made by the previous owners (Broadstripe, who were one of the bottom rated ISPs in the US)
Ooh! I got a response from the Speaker of the House yesterday! He basically said the FCC has lots of tools to make sure that the ISPs are not dicks, and he is still opposed to the level of government control involved in title II
Latvia has some of the fastest internet in the world, Newfoundland (which is a freakin' island) has fiber up to 400/350 (it's a bit separate from the regular plans)
@Unionhawk Well that's just silly, since speed from the ISP to the consumer is rarely the issue (well, at least since the FCC started that project to track it, anyway)
Google Fiber is available in our neighborhood. We petitioned our apartment complex owners to make the arrangements and purchase the hookups. "We won't be pursuing Google Fiber at this time, AT&T U-Verse provides more than enough options for our renters at this time."
Is there a way to associate new/custom variables with units?
There are two triggers I want to apply on a unit.
First trigger, invoked on a unit, should check the current order assigned to it and remember the order target (of type unit or integer (unit ID))
Second trigger occuring on the same u...
@Frank the problem is that giving everyone shit service doesn't actually benefit anyone
Google is one of the few companies that has the capital to cover an entire market area without making any money first, and even then there are a lot of regulatory obstacles.
Dear gaming.stack I would like a strategy guide to effective internet purchasing strategies. Also if you have cheat codes for existing ISPs that would help
@MattGiltaji They have an option to downgrade to a 5GB/month plan (for a $5 discount) and then they charge you an extra dollar for every GB over that you use
They're rolling this out in the cities where they have the greatest expectation that people will make this choice without understanding the consequences, and end up spending a lot more than they would have otherwise
now if the total cost of the internet was $1/GB per month with a decent speed, I'd go for that because it would still be cheaper than the outrageous rates I currently pay
I feel like they are becoming more similar to The Onion
"His endless gathering simply shows that Captain Toad is a selfish and greedy person—that he cares more for treasure than the life of his best friend. But does all that selfish behavior make him truly evil? No! What makes him evil are the countless murders. "
@murgatroid99 with this argument we could get rid of each and every argument about violence, sexism and what other things people have issues with in videogames
@Chippies Fiction as an expression of sexism or other bigotry is important not because the fictional characters are expressing it but because the real creators are expressing it
It's the same reason people got riled up over that Barbie book recently
I have a few questions about ios games. But, I have a feeling that they belong on Ask different. Do they belong here?
ie:
What is the final dragon to unlock on dragonvale?
