@agent86 Recommendations, especially from people who know my tastes, developers I follow on twitter (and what they retweet), assorted front pages and "hot new games" type lists. I generally try to get in on early stuff. Though I'm usually too lazy/irregular to catch stuff as it happens
It also helps, though I hate doing it, to ask indie devs about press copies for upcoming upcoming games (tough luck getting anything with a publisher, of course)
most indies are pretty cool about review copies as long as you can prove you actually do reviews in whatever form
yeah, that's kind of what I'm shooting for. I'd like to get ahead of the curve a bit, especially with some of the smaller guys.
I was reading an article by Jeff Vogel talking about how exposure is so tough, and I chew through a bunch of games each month. seems like I could use some of that time to play something out there, and at least provide feedback.
I'm trying to pick a couple of interesting ones, and get in touch with them. I kind of hate asking for freebies unless I plan on at least writing a 'neutral' article. I kind of hate taking something and then giving bad press out of it, but I guess that's kind of the nature of reviews, y'know?
I'm not sure it's all that much better if I plonk down $5 before eviscerating them either.
At first I thought it was by trophies, because I am the top 6th player in our clan, and I'm 7th on the war base but that's not it. And I have previously been the top 2nd of trophies, but like 13th on the war map. And then some other forums said it was based on your village level or something? But...
I have little nephew and niece and I'm looking for games for them.
Currently, they are playing Minecraft and flash games on random sites. I can't prohibit games to change their lifes, because I'm not their parent :) So I would like to find the ones that are more useful in growth.
I thought abou...

> I wanted to do a painting of the start menu shot from Ocarina of Time when he's racing up the hill and the moon is behind him. Although this is a very much different perspective on it, I always thought the scene needed a more darker and dramatic look.
potentially nsfw because of the jiggle sand-raider outfit
game has amazing graphics
@SaintWacko Did you play the special edition of the first one? It had the online game mode where you could play as giant akrid and kill other human players.
As we all know , a Minecraft Server keeps the spawn chunks loaded all the time (if you don't know, read these questions: one two). So ticks keep passing by. I'm keen of the fact that in these ticks not everything is processed like there is a player nearby that is responisble for the loaded chunks...
I've been trying to help people on Dark Souls 2 with the Iron King boss, but every time I get summoned, when the summoning player enters the mist I immediately get sent back to my world.
Is Iron King a solo-only fight? For what it's worth, I only used the Small White Sign Soapstone so I can get...
There were three votings today, and one party consisting of liars (more then normal for politicians) with everything in their program fucked up has won extremely hard...
@SaintWacko "BOOOHOOO THINGS ARE NOT GOING AS WELL AS THEY SHOULD IT'S ALL EUROPE'S FAULT EUROPE DOING TOO MUCH EUROPE IS DOING TOO LITTLE THE EURO IS STRANGLING OUR ECONOMY WE WANT OUT OF IT VOTE FOR US AND WE'LL FIX EUROPE AND BY THAT I MEAN WE WILL DESTROY IT FROM INSIDE"
Here in Italy, specifically, the rhethoric also adds "WAAAAAAH EUROPE IS ACTUALLY UNDER FRANCO-GERMAN CONTROL THE BIG BAD MERKEL DEVIL IS DESTROYING OUR ECONOMY, BANKRUPTING OUR SOCIETIES AND BREAKING OUR BALLOONS"
One thing this did is that the openly rascistic party seriously lost. The not-so-openly, but still kind of anti gay,and rascistic party won by a shitton though :(
On top of all the above, she has the audacity to add, "BOOO HOOO HOOO HOOO FRANCE IS GETTING OVERRUN BY IMMIGRANTS ITALY IS CARELESSLY BEING FORCED TO ALLOW INTO THE UNION DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S INSTEAD COOL CUSTOMS ARE COOL YES LET'S DO AWAY WITH SCHENGEN IT'S REALLY HORRIBLE YES MAYBE YOU WILL HAVE TO WASTE FOUR HOURS ON BORDER CHECKS TO GO ACROSS A COUPLE OF COUNTRIES BUT REALLY WHO DOES THAT ANYWAY HERETICS THAT'S WHO"
@FEichinger Same here, actually. The current majority and the most Euro-friendly party here swears that during our upcoming six months period leading Europe, we'll be showing them Europeans how it's done.
@Arperum I'm afraid we are all so self-absorbed that here no one gave a fuck about the five candidates, what their programs are or what local party is backing who
The EP got us Schengen, awesome mobility between member states, very strong privacy laws and consumer rights that are the envy of the US, a single currency that is much stronger than the mess we used to have, it's managed to ban roaming charges in betweeen countries, strong guarantees about trademarks for local produces etc. ...
A lot of things we are growing to take for granted are the result of European countries putting their weight together
Well; fine. The European Union's dark and mysterious mechanisms got those for us. Do you really expect common people (including me) to be able to tell the difference?
Because here everybody is focused on Grillo vs Renzi vs Berlusconi.
I'm not going to vote for people who just want to dismantle stuff without a plan to replace the broken parts with something that works
that is a terrible, awful, terrible, disastrous, terrible, doomed, terrible, stupid, terrible, imbecile, terrible, cretin, terrible, terrible, terrible fucking idea
Grillo's grandiose plan to fix Italian politics is to replace parties with glorified online fucking polls
"direct democracy" sounds grand on paper, no, wait, it fucking doesn't
The EU as it is right now has messed up the Euro, given almost unilateral power to Germany and France and has brought us even more messed-up International politics by crawling up the US's butt and denouncing Russia for little reason. Frankly, I'd rather have no EU than having that.
Yes, there's grounds for improvements, there's always grounds for improvement, but we should not destroy decades of sacrifices and planning just because things aren't working out as well as they should
Hey guys anybody wanna donate an extra norfleet to me? I'm level 72 and i really want one. I will be forever in your debt and be your slave forever and ever. My GT is NIGHT HOG1212
@badp Things aren't just "not working out as well as they should" - they're actively getting worse. The EU has given Merkel free reigns to drive Europe into the ground, and she's doing a masterful job at it.
Of course, some of the decisions made by the EU to keep the ship together have not gone our way
@FEichinger The Ukraine mess is, well, a mess, and our lack of relevance when we are united together is shining through. But if the EU together doesn't count for shit, what does Germany alone count for?
or Italy, or France, or Spain
NEWSFLASH: not a fucking thing
the solution is not to abandon ship and disband all ties
In case you haven't noticed it - the conflict in the Ukraine was expected and calculated. The EU has condoned and supported extremists' rise to power well since the Arab Spring.
And Germany alone would at least not get dragged down by the rest of Europe because the EU has become too big to maintain with this shoddy system.
The European people do not get a chance to resolve any of this, because none of the votes a European citizen could cast would actually affect anything.
And, yes, Germany is getting dragged down by the rest of Europe, because we have to save everyone's ass after the crap we caused. Which is, again, why I'm saying Merkel is doing a masterful job at driving Europe into the ground.
Turns out that in every system there's always a part that performs better and a part that doesn't perform as well
The solution is not to give the second part the finger, the solution is to invest in it, even if that removes funds from the parts of the system that perhaps don't need that money to begin with
For our part, the EU has been investing a ton in Italy, and we've been doing a masterful job in wasting that money.
After all, if we were being efficient in the way we spent money, we would've needed no help to begin with
In short, if you think you can do a better job of not fucking the EU over, you can begin by voting for people who want to fuck the EU less, not more.
I'm in one of those countries that "are being fucked over" and I still recognize that the amount of fucking over is minuscule in respect of what awaits us if we were to go alone
@badp It launches and then immediately pops up a GFWL overlay that makes you sign in. Now that I figured out the problem was a ridiculously poor password policy it seems to be working, but I'm still skeptical of what will happen if you try and set up a game once the service goes down for good.
Italy is a country that could/should/would/does rely a lot on tourism. None of the things Le Pen is advocating for helps tourism. The last thing we fucking need is border checks and currency change before one can experience the living hell that's Rome's urban system
On the plus side, this made me remember I somehow hadn't set up two-factor auth for my Live account, so I just did that and generated an app password for GFWL.
As you can see here, there are 2 chests at the top of the screen, which I can't bounce on, and I can't hit with my cane. How can I open these chests and get the treasure inside?
first they decided to replace their original dollar (ZWD) with a new dollar (ZWN) that would be worth 1,000 ZWD's (while also losing 60% of the actual value)
then they did that again, and called the new new dollar (ZWR) ten milliards of the previous dollar
then they did that one more time, and called the new new new dollar (ZWL) a tera of the previous dollar
(awkward attempts to dodge short and long notation hell are awkward)
I suppose those abbreviations respectively mean Zimbabwe Dollar, Zimbabwe New Dollar, Zimbabwe Ridiculous Dollar and Zimbabwe Loldollar
> During [February 2007], the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe declared inflation illegal, outlawing any raise in prices on certain commodities between 1 March and 30 June 2007. Officials arrested executives of some Zimbabwean companies for increasing prices on their products.
One of the achievements is to clear a Rift in just 2 short minutes. So seeing there isn't a difficulty requirement, I went to Normal to give this a try. After a few attempts my fastest time is still around 9 minutes. How is it possible to clear Rifts in just 2 minutes?
So in Ascendant, there appear to be a bunch of unlockable characters. Memnonn and Theseus are the only two available at the start however. I played a couple of games and beat the first boss, but didn't unlock any new characters.
How do I unlock the others?
On the character selection screen, there is a number sequence displayed in the character description. It appears to be a combination of 2 and 1, but I only have two characters unlocked so far.
What do these numbers mean?
@hichris123 The fact that someone did notice is pretty much the reason why they would do it in the first place: Someone felt it was better like this, even if most people never actually actively notice it.
In Watch Dogs, when approaching a car, there is a command to enter the vehicle by pressing triangle. Then the protagonist pulls out the driver and gets into the car himself.

@3ventic Well, technically it's not a fake release. It just has an extra payload. :P
This question is stuck in a grey area; it could be an early copy, or it could be pirated. It looks like an issue that non-pirates would have, so I'm willing to err on the side of good faith for this one.
I think there has, historically, been a grey area of about one or two days before the 'street date' of a release where we grudgingly accept the questions because typically the turnaround for it getting closed as unreleased and then deleted creates a window where the question has not yet been deleted, but the game has since released, and then it gets re-opend, but shouldn't be and drama and things.
