I would go an ask on the games forum first, before starting a bounty.
@5pike thanks for this site to ask.Also I think its soon to set bounty on second day.
@kalina Downvotes don't kill people, the crushing sense of rejection does.

Q: Three Man Army Achievement problems

GuillelonI already check the other question about it but I still can't make it. I've done the final mission and chose option C (not to kill Trevor and Michael). But know if I'm with Trevor and call Michael to hangout he accepts it, but before I pick him up I call Franklin and he's busy or not answering. ...

Q: Is Democracy 3 deterministic?

Cam JacksonAll of the systems in this game are very complex. Policies have all sorts of knock-on effects, and voters are effected by any number of them. If I perform the exact same actions in multiple runs of the game, will I get exactly the same result? It would be nice to know the answer to this questio...

@NewlyOpenedProposalsforEntertainment Stackoverflow anyone?
@NewlyOpenedProposalsforEntertainment There is some other moderators proposal that has more people on it.
@Lazers Why are genretags still a thing?
I feel like I'm talking to a computer...
@Arperum you are
13:32
I AM NOT A COMPUTER. HELLO FELLOW HUMANS. PLEASE INSERT GIRDER.
@KevinvanderVelden I'm fully aware of that. I was just hinting at the bridge being asleep.
@Arperum and I answered, proving that the bridge isn't completely asleep :)
@KevinvanderVelden Which is good, thus keep doing that.
I am asleep.
@Unionhawk I am sleep-working, does that count?
13:36
No
@KevinvanderVelden I am sleep-working too, having a bit of a nightmare though, making an interactive advent calendar with js/css and all I got for images was a single .gif file... Got some stuff though, so now I might be able to do something...
@OrigamiRobot BURN, you ugly thing
Awww yiss is that a gurdurr
@NewlyOpenedProposalsforEntertainment Meta.SE.SE.Meta
13:40
that sure is large for a sprite that's like 40 pixels high
@RonanForman I think they can manage 30k in over 2 days.
@NOPE GraceNote.SE
@OrigamiRobot Maybe.
@RonanForman 760k is the Blu-Ray tier. (Waste of a BRD IMO, but whatever) People want that.
@OrigamiRobot True, people do like their pixels.
13:47
@RonanForman I'm no expert, but 8 6-minute videos don't seem like 50GB to me.
@OrigamiRobot Aren't blurays better quality too?
So there's a list of new domains now avaible to buy on GoDaddy
.blackfriday is one of them, so should we buy rebecca.blackfriday and set up dont.listen.to.rebecca.blackfriday?
@RonanForman The resolution is a limitation of the media format. That's the problem.
@tombull89 brb
The 1080p data will fit on a DVD, but it won't play at 1080p
@tombull89 rebecca.blackfriday is available, and I'd purchase it for the annual fee ($40 is worth it to me), but it's $320 setup fee, so nope.
2
Somebody richer have a go.
@fredley I'll chip in $20
@tombull89 brb, setting up kickstarter
srsly, if another 14 people chip in $20 I'll do it
@tombull89 you asked godaddy, it'll probably be parked in 5 minutes
There's some really odd tlds there. How about youtube.rips?
13:53
.uno? They named a gtld after a card game?
.christmas? is.it.christmas?
.app is just a stupid money-maker
As every app that already has a .com will go and buy it just to prevent other people squatting
In fact all of these are stupid

Q: Have they Changed the Power of the Honey Badger

KillercamI have noticed today that the Honey Badger is not a potent as it was before the latest update to COD Ghosts. is this me, or has the Honey Badger been made less powerful (much like the MSMC was in COD Black Ops II)?

There's also a .food so we could have i.love.chinese.food
Today I remembered: Linux isn't a good operating system and Windows will always be superior in every way

14:00
@Lazers Time for more death threats sent to Infinity Ward! Such a friendly community, Call of Doodie players... <_<
@tombull89 Because chinese.food won't go insanely fast
@kalina Linux > Windows for servers
If you disagree you're just plain wrong
4
@fredley I'm sorry, I disagree with you, based on the fact I can't even get gparted to detect my hard disks and it hangs on "scanning all devices"
@kalina Well you're linuxing wrong
based on the fact that when I right click on a drive and select format I get no progress indicator or any indicator of any kind demonstrating it's actually doing anything
@fredley Don't. I am in a vile mood and comments like this will probably result in massive data loss.
@kalina You're using a gui with Linux? Instafail
14:02
welcome to my ignore list
Today's Listening (slightly nsfw cover art)
Linux has a GUI?
@TZHX Sounds awful

Welp. The cold got here fast.
14:08
So the Bioshock Infinite DLC "Burial at Sea" is released today.
(cold as in 23 F (-5 C), with an overnight drop of around 10 F (5 C))
@Unionhawk That doesn't sound very cold.
@GnomeSlice You don't sound very cold. seriousface
(In fairness, it's not that cold, but I am not currently equipped for cold here on campus. I will have to correct that this weekend)

@tombull89 I heard it's really, really short.

Q: Installing Hero of the Storm on Ubuntu

Pat R ElleryI went to the BlizzCon .. great time and I saw their new game Hero Of The Storm - http://www.heroesofthestorm.com/en-us But I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and when I try to install it, it does not work, nothing happens ... no launcher... no screens ... nothing I already have Diablo 3 and WOW installed...

Modulated looks like it has a lot of potential

Q: What are the stats for the MegaTower segments?

David BCities of Tomorrow introduced MegaTowers, which have many different segments which can be built. So far I know these: LW Residential: 800 workers, 400 shoppers and 200 students. 800 cost per hour, 1200 rent per hour T1 Office: 1200 LW, 400 MW and 100 HW workers. 900 cost per hour, 1900 rent...

@GnomeSlice A word on recommendations, if I may
You'll find that you'll get a much better return on recommending things if you recommend them specifically to people who might be interested
14:38
@GnomeSlice Wow, Gerard Butler's in that game!
as in individual people
Or give some specifics on why you're recommending them.
Given the quantity of links you post, I never click any of them
@Sterno hah
But if you posted a link to me directly with a message like 'I know you like Minecraft, so look at this' I might engage
Same goes for any game you post
And if you can't think of a single specific person to target a link at, it's probably not worth bothering
14:45
Illogical. Your bread would be soggy.
@Blem mmh toast
@Blem What could possibly go wrong?
This question could fit multiple close reasons. It is literally asking which product (distribution platform) meets certain criteria (most money to devs). It is a game dev question (marketing and distribution are part of development). It is Too Broad (we can't list every distribution method). Primarily Opinion Based was definitely the weakest reason to close it, but it could still be argued. The intentions are noble, but it is not a good fit for our site. — OrigamiRobot 7 mins ago
14:48
When it comes to games i feel that kickstarter more and more is just away presell a nearly finished product
I think "products which meet certain criteria" is kind of getting abused a lot recently, but I agree that question isn't a good fit
"Q: Which gun in quake does the most damage?" "A: I'm sorry, your question is about which product (gun) matches a certain criteria (most damage)."
@Blem + (somewhat) free advertising.
@Sterno Has something like that actually happened?
@OrigamiRobot I don't see that aspect as terribly dissimilar from what's being asked. But as you said, it has a whole host of other problems
The intention behind limiting the product/criteria questions is to avoid popularity contests. Asking specifically "On which platform(s) do the developers get most of my money?", assuming the data was available, is not a popularity contest.
@Sterno Your example is limited in scope and is by definition bounded. It doesn't fit the two main reasons for the "products that meet a certain criteria" thinger.
14:51
@Blem The circuit would have already shorted by this stage, fish would already be dead
I guess if we pretend there are an infinite number of distribution platforms, sure.
@GnomeSlice Nope, target it at someone
@fredley Why?
By that logic, none of the list questions are unbounded.
@GnomeSlice Because people ignore your links because you post so many of them
If you really want people to see great new games you're going to have to put a bit of effort in
14:53
@OrigamiRobot And all of those fit "too broad" just as well. There's no need for the "products that meet a certain criteria" reason then.
^ that
All that aside, my main problem in this specific case is that this question with multiple problems was reopened because the close reason that won wasn't the best.
Current thought process:
This is a new indie game > post on Bridge with glowing praise

Suggested thought process:
This is a new indie game > @somebody would like this > post on Bridge to @somebody explaining why they will like it
It's "too localized" all over again: It's getting abused over key phrases.
I'm thinking about making a meta about closing and reopening responsibly.
14:53
And if they do it's likely to build interest and other people will check it out anyway
@OrigamiRobot Good luck with that.
The brunt of the topic being closing responsibly.
Also, good morning, Bridge.
4
@OrigamiRobot Make sure you steal and edit some Drink Responsibly photos for it
@OrigamiRobot The close reason that won was terrible...
14:55
Holy shit, why the hell does that question have so many upvotes?
obv sockpuppets
@Sterno Because it's a good question. It may be a terrible fit for the site, but it generates interest.
It's a good question. I know I'd like to make sure my money is supporting devs. It's just no well suited to this site.
Really my main problem with the question is that the data simply isn't available.
@Unionhawk I agree, but that's not a reason to reopen when the question has multiple other problems.
14:57
It bugs me that unsourced information posted in an answer has 31 upvotes.
Since I'm pretty sure those numbers are not correct.
@GnomeSlice Alternatively post things with linkbait titles
Closing for the first reason you can think of is bad, just like reopening without considering problems besides the current close reason is bad.
Hey, @GnomeSlice, let's not get too ahead of ourselves.
@LpSamuelm =P
@fredley What?
14:58
That just sounds pretentious.
ಠ_ಠ
@GnomeSlice That's linkbait baby.
@fredley It'll make me stop thinking the word "roguelike" is being abused?
@GnomeSlice At this point, sounding pretentious would be a step forward for you.
@Sterno Could be, who knows, I just write the clickbait
@Sterno It apparently has more focus on being 'roguelike' than some of the roguelites, that have been coming out lately. But who knows, it's a platformer as well.
15:00
Super Mario Brothers was a roguelike. You could permadie!
@Sterno =[
@Sterno If you left Sonic alone for three minutes, he'd commit suicide, and an instant game over!
That means it's a roguelike, too!
@fbueckert Seriously?
@5pike Yup.
Sega were jerks about it.
@Sterno Minecraft is a roguelike, it has a grid map, and dungeons!
15:01
I hate you guys.
@fbueckert Cool.
@fbueckert That's a hell of an idle animation
@fbueckert How did he do it?
@fredley Says, "I'm outta here", and jumps off the stage

Q: How can I invite a friend to a server I am on in Battlelog in Battlefield 4?

Zero StackHow can I invite a friend to a server I am on in Battlelog in Battlefield 4? I have seen this: Hint: Did you know you can invite friends to Servers? Drag a friend from the Com Center to a Drop Zone to invite him or her to the server. What do they mean by drop zone? A screenshot here ...

15:03
Seems like he also does it in Sonic CD
And it doesn't even just kill your current life; it takes ALL your lives.
@fbueckert Sonic's got other shit to do.
Secret sonic level: toilet dash
15:11
That is a strange game design decision, to have the character kill himself if you leave it running idle for a few minutes
I wonder if there was a technical reason behind it
@Sterno Sonic is all about Speed. I guess it was just some kind of easter egg. That made you lose.
Kind of like how you lose if you eat real Easter eggs
@Sterno Easter eggs, like life, are a game you cannot win :-(
@Sterno what?
15:14
@fredley That's not a real Easter egg.
@GnomeSlice Yours isn't one either.
@GnomeSlice No, it's the zenith of easter eggs.
Still
1 min ago, by 5pike
@Sterno what?
@5pike what?
15:15
@5pike So, a few weeks before Easter, parents hard boil some eggs. Then they and their kids paint them. Then they sit around for a few weeks until the parents hide them.
Once found, one should not eat the egg that was hard boiled over 2 weeks ago and probably not refridgerated
@Sterno Who does that?
@Sterno indeed, one should DEMAND chocolate eggs!
2 weeks before easter?
@5pike people with children I suppose?
@KevinvanderVelden Such people shouldn't have children...
15:16
@Sterno Yeh ... no, that's not how this works.
Maybe you guys live in Awesomeville where you only make your eggs the night before, but that was not my experience.
We used to paint eggs 2 ~ 1 day before Easter, so they were fresh and edible.
@Sterno But if you don't eat them how will you hallucinate enough to see the Easter Bunny?
What is with this ridiculous egg-painting?
You buy chocolate eggs for each other, then you eat them.
Also people actually hide hard boiled eggs?
15:18
@TimStone Yep.
BACK IN THE DAY HARD BOILED EGGS WERE ALL WE HAD
@TimStone Apparently. We only hid presents, though, not the eggs.
@Sterno Ah, right, in the age before plastic.
I never in my life have hunted for plastic eggs.
15:19
@Sterno Seriously though, blowing out eggs is the proper way to do this right?
@Sterno But for rotten ones?
Like, no sane parent lets their young children hunt for food that might kill them
Right?
RIGHT?
RIGHT??
Apparently I had far more traumatic Easters than the rest of you.
15:20
My experience was always painting eggs, then later eating them before they go bad, and then hunting for chocolate/jelly beans inside of plastic eggs because sanity.
@TimStone Chocolate eggs and the like are becoming more common, but up until some time ago, 'twas still hard boiled eggs here, too.
But unlike @Sternold, we didn't let them rot for two weeks. o.ô
Seriously, wtf?
I love hard boiled eggs, therefore I love Easter.
@Sterno I don't know what crazy parents do it that way. We always had egg hunts at church and/or grandparents' houses. The eggs didn't sit for weeks.
@fredley This. So much this.
15:21
@fredley ๏_๏
@Arperum Quite!!
@fredley Not this though.
@Arperum Interesting fact: That's actually @Sternold
@fredley The kid or the bunny?
Is there any way to keep Steam from rearranging the new download queue?
15:22
or both o_O?
I keep putting Loadout at the top and a few minutes later it starts downloading something else.
@5pike kid
@5pike Must be the bunny. @Sterno was too old when photography began.
@fredley Lies. @Sterno was born an old man.
@Arperum @Sterno is Benjamin Button?
15:24
I bet @Sterno actually painted eggs because egg dyes weren't invented yet.
@fredley Somewhat, but he gets older again, once he reaches a certain age.
Old - not so old - old
Descriptive links are best links.
@spyder That's not a mauser, silly.
15:27
@spyder MLA: Guns are magic?
@OrigamiRobot Lee-Enfield
@OrigamiRobot I think it's a lee enfield.
Yep
@spyder I was calling whoever named the image silly, not you.
> All you need to make a game is a $299 computer, a chair, time, and some software which we'll pretend for the moment you didn't get on BitTorrent.
Yay, half day only at work today. Sadly, that's because my cable Internet is messing up. Again.
And I have to be there when the tech stops by this afternoon.
15:30
@Sterno Nope, not even that. You can build a game with only free tools (see: speed-warp.net)
@Sterno Hey, I got Visual Studio from MS because they still haven't taken away my MSDNAA rights.
You can build a game with a raspberry pi, keyboard and internet connection.
@fredley He means a game people would pay for. :)
@Sterno Fine
15:31
@fredley You should have put ads on there. Then you'd be rolling around in a Scrooge McDuck moneybin from all the ad revenue
@spyder Sup axrwkr
@Sterno Off 1k hits a day? Not likely
@fredley 10k per ad hit. All you need is one complicit ad executive you'll split the money with.
@Sterno Yeah, I can see a flaw or two in this approach
There can be no flaws.
15:32
Robbing a bank might be easier.
@Sterno and knowledge.
unless you're counting that under time.
@Sterno PAYDAY 2 taught me that robbing banks is easy.
@Powerlord The point he was going for is that entry cost is pretty low. I just thought the torrent comment was funny.
Stealing Bitcoin is easier still
@OrigamiRobot Just bring dufflebags
15:34
The entry cost for making A game is low. The entry cost for making a good game is significantly higher.
And a mask.
The mask is most important.
I could bang out a simple hangman game in like an hour, for instance.
@OrigamiRobot But you can never have more than 4 calbeties on your body.
@GnomeSlice he was a ton more incessant.
So... Contrast comes out later this week. I'm hoping it's different enough from Lost in Shadow / A Shadow's Tale to make it interesting.
15:36
Ugh, I should've answered that comment more quickly. Oh well.
@RedRiderX And gloves.
@Powerlord An hour? I could knock one out in 5 minutes.
@fredley They have to blue. White ones won't work.
@Powerlord I haven't played either of those, but Contrast has been looking great.
Morning, Bridge
@GnomeSlice Lost in Shadow and A Shadow's Tale are the same game, it just has different names in different regions.
15:40
@fredley And a suit.
Lost in Shadow, known as A Shadow's Tale in Australia and Europe and as in Japan, is a puzzle platforming video game developed for Nintendo's Wii console by Hudson Soft. It was released in Japan in July 2010, in Australia and Europe in October 2010, and in North America in January 2011. Lost in Shadow is played largely in the background of the game environment as the player controls a boy's shadow, which must climb the shadows of a tall tower, rife with puzzles and enemies. He is accompanied by a sylph that can alter the direction of the foreground light sources, altering the alignment of...
@Unionhawk And a hat
@Powerlord Interesting concept.
@GnomeSlice Yeah those are pretty neat.
