Q: Castle Age: how to fight monsters to maximize Favor Points?

Is there a strategy or some hints how to fight monsters to get more Favor Points? I've found no rule there yet, I've noticed I get Favor Points sometimes if I'm in the top of the beaters, but not always. And sometimes I haven't attacked so much but still I get some FP. There's basically three theories going about: a) It's the dev themselves (or people they know) that push it past the goal so they get the Ouya double-up. b) It's Ouya themselves boosting it so their programme (and the console) gets some coverage. ("Successfully funded Ouya game, wheeee!") c) It's actually trolls that won't pay up.

I'm torn between the first two. Could really be either.
