@fbueckert I think the silly fellow is just confused. Most EA games do deliver offline experiences - maybe not good ones though. I think this guy's probably referring to trying to tie everything into the BS that is Origin or maybe he's serious. If they don't offer SP that I can play then I won't buy their products and their sales figures will speak my message.

I'm running on an older machine so resources are limited; this is not a gaming rig. As such, I'm trying to maximize system resources by turning off unnecessary things.
Does the Steam overlay consume additional resources? I assume it must, but how much? Is there a process I can monitor in Task...
I don't think it's an issue that EA is not going to go for offline games, as long as they do it right and don't shoehorn online where it's not appropriate.

There are a few doors that say CO OP ONLY in game and it's just so offensively damaging to the immersion of a game that is all about immersion, so much so that the game UI is all represented in 3D space in the game world, not as magic menus
Online doesn't belong in Dead Space, period. Very few survival horror games have been made in such a way that online play makes sense, and these (L4D) were made from the ground up with online play in mind; Dead Space wasn't
Also, Microsoft is finally converting MP to local currency, but all current MP that gets converted comes with an expiration date. Why does it come with an expiration date? That's like expiring gift cards and I know there are court rulings against that.
@BenBrocka Yes, that is the issue, if they're as devoted to online as they say they are it should be their starting point, not the final thing to be added.

@RonanForman Yeah, and it clashes with their existing franchises. And honestly, at any publishing house as big as EA, "we don't do X games" should be a huge red flag in general
You can't make games spawning over a dozen genres and have all these subsidiaries and have that sort of attitude about optional features, some things just don't work together

@BenBrocka It's pissing me off quite a bit right now. I'm strongly motivated to make a big stink about this and get some consumer action going. This is so reprehensible, but coming from M$, I'm not surprised. What possible technical limitations could impose this? It's a number in your account representing your balance. If anything, this adds more complications because now different blocks of currency in your account need expiration dates associated with them.
It's possible they have all the current MS points tagged in some way in the database to allow them to exist as real money for now, and they want to clear all that out eventually. It all depends how they store their stuff. I've never handled financial transactions but I know you need to be pretty picky about how you store that stuff
I hate MS more and more. I have a few games for their systems, but I see that number falling to an absolute minimum of exclusives. I've never been a huge fan, but some friends are on live so I put up with it, but live friends be damned, I can't keep up with M$'s constant BS.
Yeah. I'm definitely going to raise a stink about this. It's some kind of fraudulent theft. Although I'm sure their legal buts are probably covered by some fine print, I won't silently let it happen. I wouldn't even have this balance if they'd just have some decent sales on anything worth buying, but all I see is nickel and dime tactics that end up totaling literally hundreds of dollars in minuscule DLC for what is already a $60 game.

@fbueckert Interesting. I was just thinking of fuel efficiency and how you could essentially launch rockets that take an extremely long time to get anywhere, but use very little fuel and, during that time, I would expect Kerbins to die from lack of supplies if not old age.
I just realized I never got any invites for the G.SE Steam group even though I was here and active during the site naming and everything. I didn't even realize there was a Steam group until now although I vaguely recall something at the time about people picking the heart icon for the group to use. It's fine. I'm used to being overlooked. It comes with being a drifter. It kind of shows how stealthy I must be.
