Pets are too expensive and I don't like having them.
I liked dogs when I was a kid. I don't like dogs now that I'm an adult.
We just feed a few local cats (and they keep the mice out of our garden in return) and make sure they don't get new kittens more than once. Keeps the local population healthy, happy and reasonably small.

A: What are the rules of spawning zombie pigmen from nether portals?

Young GuiloThis is straight from the wiki, Player Interaction section: Zombie Pigmen are capable of spawning adjacent to the bottom row of obsidian in the portal frame. Light doesn't interfere and you need 1 block of space around the nether portal. Spawning near or adjacent to a player does NOT affec...

The edit is more cruft.
@fbueckert I love this guy.
15:09
@Ender I have put it plainly before you. — Young Guilo 14 mins ago
Condescending now, too.
@fbueckert Um yeah. I wouldn't be asking random questions just for the fun of it. — Young Guilo 13 hours ago
That's my favorite
You guys are too hard on Guilo.
@GnomeSlice No.
You are not hard enough on people in general.
Maybe.
At least he tries though.
15:10
Is it just me or is the copy of jQuery 1.10.2 on the jQuery site corrupted or something?
@GnomeSlice Debatable.

EnderI'm playing FTB Unhinged with some other mods thrown in, and whenever I attempt to drink a milk bucket, it pours the milk on the ground as if it were water. What am I doing wrong?

Q: How long do 3DS Streetpass Relays keep info?

phantom42The newest firmware updates in the US enabled Streetpass relays at McDonald's and Starbucks locations. I walk by a McDonald's location every weekday morning on my way to work. Assuming I get John's Streetpass today and let him into my plaza today, will I get that same Streetpass if I walk by ...

@Coronus Especially since I got no response until AFTER I downvoted it.
Gave him several hours to respond. He was around. He ignored it.
Keeps tossing errors on both Firefox and IE and it's missing the part at the end that's supposed to point at the sourcemap file
But as soon as it starts getting downvotes, THEN he responds.
He cares nothing for quality, and everything for rep.
@fbueckert Without looking at any of the previous messages I know this is about Young Guilio.
@Wipqozn Of course. No one else contributes such utter crap so consistently.
-7
A: Is it possible to fire a lock-on Rocket Launcher in "Dumbfire" mode?

Young GuiloNo, unfortunately not. Neither of the 3 warring factions have that capability. While it would be cool to have the makers specifically did that in order to nerf the power of the weapons and to make sure people just didn't run around with rpgs.

He's at net +18 rep for this.
The system is broken.
@StrixVaria This is so true. @GnomeSlice is a huge softie. He's like a teddy bear. Except he swears a lot more.
2
15:14
@Wipqozn Ted?
@fredley I suppose.
There's also that time he answered a question about a game he obviously never even heard of, and didn't bother googling. He just wrote some random answer down. When it was pointed it that it was wrong and made no sense he edited it again. He delelted after it again pointed it his answer made no sense and was asked if he played the game.
@GnomeSlice Yes, it looks good, but... local multiplayer?
@StrixVaria He got the upvotes prior to being proven wrong. It's one of the failures of the system.
I think we need to enforce citations for his content.
Make him prove he's not talking out of his ass.
15:16
@fbueckert But... what about the questions?
@Coronus Treat it like any other 1-rep user writing crap.
The endless flow of easily Googled questions?
Downvote often, downvote hard.
3
@Coronus That's a completely valid downvote reason.
@fbueckert Downvote early, downvote often
@fbueckert I downvoted 2 of his questions in a row the other day, they got reversed.
15:17
@Coronus Two downvotes got reversed?
That seems a little touchy.
Or were there more downvotes in there?
@fbueckert IT was probably reversed as part fo the serial downvote chain.
@Wipqozn Yeah, but two votes is well under the limit.
@Coronus For a lot of them, yeah.
Pretty sweet.
If the system automatically reverses based on only two downvotes, we have ourselves a problem.
I don't think they're all multiplayer titles.
15:18
I feel like this is something we should alert Stack Exchange to (cc @AnnaLear). We have a user who is so low of quality he seems to be tripping the serial vote limit when it shouldn't be.
5
@Wipqozn The fact that he likes to dump three crappy questions within an hour means it's that much easier to trip the filter.
And, I know you guys don't go into specifics @AnnaLear, but could @Coronus two votes in a row have been caught as serial upvoting if anotheR user was serial voting on him?
And associated crap answers in the same time limit.
@TrentHawkins link?
I dont even...
@fbueckert I'm trying patiently to help him. As soon as Ender believes this is a correct answer or thinks I'm wrong I will delete the unneeded material. — Young Guilo 3 mins ago
15:22
The point of an answer isn't to convince the asker/bounty provider. It's to provide correct information. If you want to leave the cruft, it's your choice, just as it's mine for downvoting based on adding extraneous information. — fbueckert 39 secs ago
@YoungGuilo Except that when I did a google search for "runescape classnotfoundexception" the very first result was Jagex's support page detailing your exact problem and a solution. We ask users to show at least a little effort to solve a problem on their own before asking a question. — SaintWacko 1 min ago
Sigh...
Point of fact, I haven't actually downvoted that answer.
@Wipqozn Ok, I just realized these are answer downvotes, and I did downvote some questions too. (You don't change rep on these, I believe)
@Coronus You don't.
@Coronus IF you did answers and questions that would count as voting.
But still, if it got tripped from you just casually going through questions (but not through his user page) then that's a problem.
15:24
@Wipqozn Which is what I've been saying. He contributes low quality in such high volume that we're hitting a script that is supposed to be reserved for actually systematically going through a user's page.
When he posts 5 bad questions in 10 minutes, I have no idea what I'm gonna do.
@fbueckert Post a meta about it.
@StrixVaria That's what I'm thinking.
We're going to need to soon, anyways.
It will serve two purposes: 1) It will let SE know that this is an issue we're running into. 2) It will give him a chance to see our viewpoint (since he clearly doesn't check chat) and possibly explain himself.
I feel like this is something that would best be handled by moderators.
15:25
@fbueckert Do it. These questions are awful
I'm more skeptical about 2, but it's worth a shot.

Q: What's 'undownvoted' doing on my rep page when I've done no such thing?

shanodinChecking my rep this morning, I came across this: I know that I haven't been doing any 'undownvoting' - in fact, I was in bed when this occured. Are there other things which can cause this to happen automatically?

I don't think making a public meta calling him out is a good idea.
He'll just feel like he's being attacked, and it won't go anywhere good.
@Wipqozn You don't have to mention him by name unless specifically asked
@Wipqozn I figured I'd do it once someone hits the serial downvote script organically.
15:26
@Wipqozn If he ever checks what we say in here...
Because that means we have a rather large problem on our hands.
@StrixVaria Yeah, he'll feel attacked too, but I think it's different than actually calling him out on meta.
That sounds like the kind of thing better for chat anyways.
@StrixVaria I find it amusing that with all the rooms he makes he's rarely in here.
@fbueckert Was it decided that the last two times were non-organic?
Honestly, if he did come to the Bridge we might be able to iron out a lot of stuff.
15:27
@SaintWacko I don't have the details on those.
With that said, making a reply to his already existing meta would work I think. Just be nice about it.
@StrixVaria I doubt it.
@fbueckert Ah, okay
I can't prove those are from organic voting.
Let him know that this might not actual be serial voting, and could be organic, due to his post quality.
Before we do anything though we should get multiple examples of his poor post quality.
15:28
@Wipqozn 90% of his posts, or so?
Seriously, you can blindly pick something out of the list, and you're likely to catch one.
If someone got their votes reversed, and they weren't running through his profile, then we can make a meta specifically about that. I'm willing to write up something on his serial downvoting post, if needed.
@Wipqozn Those are ordered by 'controversial'
@fredley Wil this grab deleted post too?
15:30
@Wipqozn Probably not. It's also not grabbing closed.
I think it even reversed one of my upvotes on him. Odd...
Does the downvoter get feedback that their votes were reversed?
@FEichinger Only on their rep page/count.
@Coronus If that's the case, mine were not reversed, FWIW.
@Wipqozn I'm refining to grab the worst
@Wipqozn Try it now
15:33
@fredley Nope.
Returns almost everything.
Including those with no downvotes.
@Fluttershy needs a free dynamic DNS service. Go!
@Wipqozn Yeah, it's just to find the worst

Q: How can I make chests in a desert biome when there are no trees in Minecraft?

Young GuiloHow can I make chests if I'm in a desert map? Where's the wood to make chests and crafting tables?

So what's the point of a super flat desert biome? — Young Guilo May 26 at 3:07
Is this kid serious?
@StrixVaria I guess so.
He is inventing a whole new league of stupid questions.
15:34
@fredley So how do I link to one fo these?
I ran a query, but I'm still on an edit page.
@StrixVaria What's wrong with this one, actually?
Or will only I see see the edit window?
@Wipqozn Um, the results are links?
@GnomeSlice The question isn't necessarily close-worthy, strictly speaking.
@Wipqozn If you want to link to the query there's a permalink
15:35
It's just the stupidest Minecraft question I've ever seen.
@StrixVaria You haven't seen his other questions then
You must not have seen many Minecraft questions.
@fredley I thought you had ignored me.
-6
Q: What Items do creepers destroy?

Young GuiloWhat items can you retrieve intact if a creeper explodes in certain biomes? I usually get sand and grass. Can you also get sandstone and stone as well?

@fredley Yeah, I'm still ona "edit" page.
15:36
@StrixVaria Only temporarily
@Wipqozn There's a permalink link on the edit page
1 min ago, by StrixVaria
He is inventing a whole new league of stupid questions.
@fredley That actually seems pretty useful to me.
@GnomeSlice Well, one thing that's definitively wrong is that he accepted a wrong answer. :D
@GnomeSlice Have you played Minecraft for more than 1 minute?
@StrixVaria Yes. So? I definitely haven't bothered to try to convince creepers to blow up next to everything.
@GnomeSlice You should have seen the first revision of the question.
Well it's irrelevant now.
@GnomeSlice He's not asking what they can blow up, he's asking what you can't get back.
This kid literally thought that the creeper dropped rewards when exploding.
15:38
Because it's been edited.
@GnomeSlice It's still a stupid question.
@Ullallulloo Yes I'm aware. Which would involve testing them next to every type of block.
@StrixVaria If you say so.
12
Q: Do explosions destroy stuff?

John the Greenbreak: To turn the block into the little floating thing that you can pick up. destroy: To completely obliterate a block, not even leaving a little floating thing. Given those definitions, the question is very simple. I had read about TNT mining at another question, but when I tried it, it ex...

dupe it
@GnomeSlice Well, the answer is everything. There's no real reason to think you couldn't get back a type of block, but he seemed to think they were just death drops like other mobs.
@Ullallulloo death drops?
15:40
@Ullallulloo The problem is that he posts oneline questions where no one even knows what on Earth he's asking.
@GnomeSlice He thought the blocks were dropped by creepers, not that they just didn't destroy them.
@OrigamiRobot Why isn't this one stupid?
That's a bad question.
I agree his revision is fine, but the downvoters probably didn't see it.
@GnomeSlice Like bones and arrows by skeletons and zed meat by zombies, he though creepers happened to drop a lot of dirt.
4
A: How can I make chests in a desert biome when there are no trees in Minecraft?

SF.Assuming you play this as a challenge - no other biomes, just surviving in the desert: Seek caves (may take some trial and error; some may be buried under the sand) and try to find an abandoned mine. There's wood aplenty in there, in form of the supports. Of course if you just started in the de...

15:41
I don't usually follow every question I vote on.
@Ullallulloo Oh. Well I can see how he might make that assumption I guess.
Here's the correct answer to the "wood in the desert biomes in Minecraft" question, BTW.
@Ullallulloo So he does I didn't notice that.
@GnomeSlice Because we like John and dislike Young Guilo
@OrigamiRobot ಠ_ಠ
That's not how it works.
15:42
No, but that's what you've already decided so why not go along with it.
Young Guilo is officially the worst person on the site right now. Just ask @LessPop_MoreFizz, who is arbiter of such things.
Don't tell me what I've decided.
It was a legitimate question.
John's is slightly longer, but there's not much of a difference.
So I asked.
Jan 23 '12 at 20:48, by John
We vote on content, not the user.
So relevant.
@Ullallulloo I'm not sure if you missed the sarcasm or are just making another funny.
What happened to the stars on that?
15:44
@OrigamiRobot I caught it mostly, but that was really relevant.
Did they make someone uncomfortable
@GnomeSlice Someone must ave cancelled them.
Either a room owner or a moderator.
And rightly so.
@GnomeSlice John's question displays a greater level of effort. He acknowledges that blast mining is a thing, and specifically questions aspects of its use. Young Guilo's question asks 'What do I get when creepers blow up' as if it's a set thing
@Sconibulus I still don't see enough of a difference to warrant a net score difference of 18
Maybe it's just me
I guess I see what you mean though.
15:46
@GnomeSlice The questions are not different. The way they were asked is.
2
@Ullallulloo Don't think so...
@GnomeSlice You can't really judge it that way though.
Since the question has changed a lot since it the time it was asked (due to an edit) it's hard to judge the vote difference.
I would have down voted his original question, but not his revision,.
@Ullallulloo No.
Other users might feel the same, but just didn't see it since the edit.
So that difference could really be from the original question and not the revision.
15:48
@Ullallulloo I don't really know about tag wikis, isn't this what they're for?
@Wipqozn Then the system is broken.
@YoungGuilo As you've been told before, stop "trying" to help. Do, or do not, there is no try. If you can only "try" to help, don't answer. Not every question needs an answer from Young Guilo. "But I'm trying" isn't a valid defense for writing answers you seem to know are bad answers; they just lower the quality of the site. — SevenSidedDie 8 mins ago
@GnomeSlice Yes, but we can't just quote other sites, copyright and all that.
@GnomeSlice Well, it's pretty much entirely a quote.
@GnomeSlice I didn't vote on either of them, but I'd consider upvoting John's, and consider downvoting Guilo's based on content. Neither of those I'd put a strong preference on, but other voters itchier on the trigger finger with similar sensibilities would explain it.
I don't think they copyrighted their game description.
I posted the same shit on IndieGameStand when I suggested the game for a feature.

Q: How to approach a questionable change that you think should be made?

BrythanI was browsing the new tags and found this question. As best I can tell, the enbseries tag should actually be a skyrim-enbseries tag, because that's the convention: gamename-modname rather than just modname. However, in this case, Enbseries is apparently made for multiple games. Does that cha...

@GnomeSlice No, not really.
Total votes might not be the best metric, since we're not supposed to consider existing votes when voting
@GnomeSlice No, but stuff we put here is copyrighted, and we can't copyright something we don't own.
@Sconibulus I guess.
@RonanForman Oh, I didn't realize that.
In that case, yeah.
@GnomeSlice Well it's under CC but same idea.
15:50
I agree it's a bit of a flaw in the system, but there's not really any way to solve it. Should users be alerted everytime a question is edited? Not really.
I can probably write one out if you guys want, I'm like the only one on the site who plays Pitman

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls is a 2013 Canadian-American animated musical comedy film written by Meghan McCarthy and directed by Jayson Thiessen. The film premiered across limited screens in the United States and Canada on June 16, 2013, with plans for worldwide home media release beginning on August 6, 2013, followed by broadcast on the Hasbro-owned Hub Network on September 1, 2013. Based on the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, the film re-envisions the main characters of the series, normally ponies, as human characters in a high school setting. Taking place after...
@jeffreylin_ uh
@jeffreylin_ Er...
@GnomeSlice A little bit, but you have to remember that often times people get edits to improve their questions by other people, which gives them upvotes that they don't deserve.

@jeffreylin_ I'd prefer to pretend this doesn't exist.

Just like with the STar Wars prequels.
Canadian is first of the two nationalities there. It's their fault
It would be ideal if there was some review queue for downvoted stuff that has later been edited, but it's not a big deal.
