The controls are rather annoying when it comes to vehicle handling in JC2. I guess I need a controller to do it properly. Steering and acceleration is either too sensitive or not sensitive enough, and I really want to invert vertical controls for planes

Especially because there's some lock on when shooting, so you don't get the negative effects of using a controller

FRAPS can be bitchy if you try to record voice and game audio, at least with my setup it records game volume MUCH louder than mic volume, and the only solutions were to record audio separately, turn up the mic volume (which caused clipping like crazy and was unacceptable) and turning down fraps volume in the sound mixer...every...single...time I wanted to record

Now I just record video + game audio in fraps and use Camtasia to record game and mic audio, then I line up the camtasia recording to the Fraps one by means of game sound only and boom, perfect sync but separate audio files I can edit independently

(audacity should probably be able to do that too with the recording 2 tracks but I don't know how)

OBS is actually surprisingly solid for just recording, in addition to streaming

It's far and away the best free video recording software I've used

@BenBrocka I was more thinking about having two separate things recording stereo mix and mic input; I thought of audacity because it makes the choice of what to record from rather explicit

@BenBrocka The problem with it is that, unlike other programs, if it doesn't manage to stay on top of the game it won't try and lower the game framerate

It'll just drop frames like there's no tomorrow, and you'll only notice after you're done.

So yeah, it works fine so long as you do have the muscles to make it work fine
