@PavelJanicek Hi, how are you on this very fine day?
@KarmaBot say I have best week of my work :)

@PavelJanicek Makes it harder to separate the leeches from the ones actually trying, but shrug
@KarmaBot I am leecher now, so sorry :)
Hi bilbo :)

Anyway. Just a thought: It worries me that I can stop work plugin anytime I want
and therefore unsubscribe all people from the list

@PavelJanicek BREAKING NEWS: PavelJanicek found solution to 'how'. It is: 'And the stats'
well that's true... it was a design of J_F_B_M... I just implemented it. I'm not sure what was the reason behind it
we could do it two ways... either only allow to stop whenever the list is empty (no one is on the working list), or simply always keep the plugin on
It makes it easier to develop it that way I guess
But you might want to stop the plugin
because ... reasons
I suppose that was for testing purposes... he made the same for his russian roulette game
Can anyone just stop the work plugin?
06:40
yep

^^ And I managed to unsubscribe bilbo
06:41
yup
Not really major issue
but bit annoying
I'm actually thinking about implementing a log... to know who ran what, when...
I would call it minor improvement
OTOH, work is supposed to be a fun plugin, not a real time tracking
so the damage is minimal
@bilbo_pingouin good idea. Just make sure the log deletes itself after X days to not spoil precious space on hosting
yep damage is minimal
I totally agree, but still ... can be annoying :)
06:43
@PavelJanicek yup usual way, would be to rotate files and compress older and delete even older ones...
About a month ago I got warning from my hosting, that I filled up the database
And I was like WTF?
I guess apart from the log, the best would be: anyone can do it when no one is working, and priv users can force it
Realised that I had plugin running on my wordpress which was logging 404 errors
@bilbo_pingouin Agreed
well, I'm more used to have logs written to files
And the plugin was logging directly into DB with no deletion of old data
06:45
/var/log on Linux
As tester, this is whehre I go if I crash something
disk space is usually cheaper than DBs
(I mean /var/log)
@PavelJanicek well that shouldn't be too difficult
for me it would, because I do not even know how to make "hello world" in python
06:48
print("hello world")
or without the brackets if you use python2
now I remembered why I wanted to learn python in first place
no semicolon at the end of line
python is fun...

@PavelJanicek [Powered by Yandex Translate] so slowly starting to get to me real on the eggs
does anyone get the joke?
actually, there is german SE
@PavelJanicek it's a Nazi joke
The guys on the right wear clothing that is similar to what Nazis wore back in the day when the NSDAP rose in power (The brown shirts, pants and the brassard on the arm). Only in this joke they've got a vinyl-disc on their brassards and the dj using her computer to mix up music is complaining that those vinyl-Nazis start getting on her nerves (or more literal translate on her balls)
It's referring to the fact that there's groups of people that prefer listening to vinyl instead of cd or computer tracks, and then there's people (partly from the vinyl group, partly just those that don't have any own will) that drive it further and will likely complain their disdain of anything but vinyl publically to the displeasure of the people around them that don't care
Similar sentiment may be seen when someone is preaching publically that everybody not believing in the same thing is doomed and whatever; which will displease the non-believers as well as most of the blievers

1 hour later…
10:49
Thank you
I would give you some points if I had some
I was not getting the reference about her eggs
Still wondering if I could use it in sentence as a male
but first I have to read through this

I like exploiting bugs :)

@PavelJanicek talk about an exploit... you're losing points each time ;)
ok, not exploiting, but finding

how do you gather points in the first place?
bilbo can give you some points
ah nice
11:05
but by default you get 200 and thats it
why not tie it to the favs received in this channel as well?
so you got a constant influx based on your contrib
:D
so what do we have so far?
- work plugin stop
- givepoints to unknown, means losing points
- givepoints to new user means also losing points
starring message costs you 100 points
(Yes I'm more of a sucker for mechanics than for bug finding)
@bilbo_pingouin I think thats all
and pinning message costs you 500 points
11:08
@dot_Sp0T well points are only for fun... and starring/pinning messages... so 1) it does not really matter how many you have and 2) you shouldn't have too many to go around and pin bad things...

^^ knpown bug
@bilbo_pingouin you guys might just want to first check if the transaction is possible and only then do the calculus, or just implement some rollback code :)
@dot_Sp0T correct notation is givepoints paveljanicek 4
try that out :)
11:57
well it still shouldn't take points before verifying the transaction to be possible
coding mistake is coding mistake ^^
@dot_Sp0T yeah... the checking if someone exists was made on Monday... I had no tester available ;-) So I'll fix it when I can
;)
@bilbo_pingouin please don't get me wrong, but why would you need a tester at hand for the method? :)
Testing is important
yes, but you don't necessarily need human testers for most of the code
@dot_Sp0T you haven't read all the starred notices on the side, have you? ;)

human testers are only important when there is interaction
