Q: my sharepoint farm stop working after applying a hot fix (KB 3114508)

john GI have a SharePoint server 2013, with build number 15.0.4763.1000, now our system admins install windows security updates each month on our servers, and seems one of the updates named MS16-004 caused our list views to be showing errors as mentioned on this link SharePoint 2013 Jan 2016 Updates . ...

Check the errorfile and search for "warning" or "error" to get a clue what could have gone wrong.
This is a cheesy answer, I know, but have you just tried re-running psconfig? Sometimes it has to go through 2 or 3 times to work correctly.
@NotVonKaiser i spend the whole day re-running the configuration wizard, and restarting the server without any result.. and i have noted that our content database has a status of "upgrading",, so could this be causing our site collections to stop working ? not sure if i can fix the DB status ?
I don't know that there's a way you can back out of that, unfortunately. By the way, my experience with the Jan 2016 CU and the list view issues was resolved by forcing IE to run in 10 compatibility mode (Chrome never experienced them).
@NotVonKaiser but asking our customer to do so. will break other non-sharepoint sites, so in our case this is not an approach to go with. i will keep trying to get my psconfig working (but i am not very optimistic about it) ,, if it fails then i will apply the whole Jan 2016 CU for SharePoint server,, as in my case i only install fix support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114508 not the whole CU, i did so based on some blogs which describe how to fix the list views issue with minimal modifications,, but seems minimal modification means breaking SP server with minimal modifications :)

We worked around the above issue by changing our masterpage to force IE to run in 10 compatibility mode.
@NotVonKaiser when i checked for this problem i did not find such as solution,, now i am at the middle of the upgrade process...so these changes will not work in my case,, i need to get my SharePoint server working again...
try to apply the blogs.technet.microsoft.com/stefan_gossner/2016/01/12/… and then run config wizard again
also check the central admin >monitor> running timer job...see any job related to upgrade is running
@WaqasSarwarMCSE thanks for the reply... so you mean the hot fix support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114508 should not be applied alone.. and i need to install the whole cumulative update ?,, now i am thinking of doing this but this will be a huge chnage,, i thought i can fix the list views problem with minimal modifications ...
I know it, but when we had issue in recent past...I decide to apply the cu and fixed the issue without any problem
@WaqasSarwarMCSE i really appreciate your advice. but currently my SharePoint content database has a status of "upgrading" ,, will this cause any problem when i install the latest January CU ?
18:04
did you check the status of jobs
@WaqasSarwarMCSE can you adivce which jobs exactly i need to check ?
i am not sure about the job name, see if their is anything running with upgrade name, also check under review job defination if any one time job exist here
@WaqasSarwarMCSE so you mean i need to fix the DB status before applying the latest CUs ? or applying the latest CUs might fix the database status automatically?
i want make sure the if their is any timer job we should cancel /stop it
@WaqasSarwarMCSE no there are not any running jobs ...
18:04
what about under Review job definitions...any one time?
@WaqasSarwarMCSE there is a job named "Upgrade Job " with schdule type on time ...
