programming question: in powershell when you output an object's property with write-host and it returns a string prefixed with a + sign, what does the plus sign mean?

at the moment i'm trying to to a mass edit for TFS Build Definition Triggers but despite storing the property in a varible when i go to replace the property with the value of the varible (so in a sense i'm not chnaging anything) i get the error saying that the property can not be found in the object
