@Ash at a guess, installing the drivers (for some reason) caused windows to rethink what speakers it considers the "preferred" ones

Durandal has done this a few times, suddenly deciding that the monitor should take precedence over the actual speakers.

There's a thinger somewhere to let you change the priority or even outright disable some outputs, which I think you can get at by right-clicking on the volume systray icon, but don't quote me on that.

There's a debate in Ruby about what to do in that case. Some advocate putting the dot at the end of the first line (so you know it continues), but then the next line looks like it might standalone. Some advocate putting the dot on the start of the next line (so you know it doesn't stand alone), but then you can't tell that the previous line is incomplete.

Whatever you choose, just make sure you're consistent throughout the code base.
