@Frank I think he didn't really want "instantaneous", just "responsive feeling". He clarified that he wanted viewers to be able to be involved in game decisions, so that probably generally works out to sub-second round-trip latency. Which is definitely physically possible.

Q: Why does 1I planetary approach suite occupy a class 8 space?

If you have a 2E cargo rack in a class 4 space, you can buy a 4E cargo rack to fit in that space with greater cargo carrying space. It seems my 1I planetary approach suite only occupies 1/8th of the available room in its slot. I can't find a way to move this planetary approach suite somewhere ...

@Frank Theoretically, you could have a protocol that routes packets from a single source to multiple destinations. I don't think that exists, and it would be horribly abusable, but it would let you stream to an arbitrary number of people without significant bandwidth problems.

I guess if you did what GameStream is doing but with multiple clients there's no reason it wouldn't work, but that works because it hooks into the graphics card directly, right?

@KutuluMike I don't think its a fundamental problem they face, but rather a choice to fit their bandwidth and computing power capacity

They probably have to do re-encoding and compression to avoid saturating their bandwidth, and that costs processor time. But if you have a dedicated machine, few enough viewers, and enough bandwidth, you could probably get away with simply forwarding the data directly, without processing it or even moving it around in memory

I bet you could get some pretty low latency with that, but you'd basically need custom re-streaming software

And the fact that he only expects a few viewers at a time means that that might even be feasible to do with consumer internet bandwidth

@James Matchmaking has been cut down from 12 playlists with all the DLC I had before to 3 playlists with only the vanilla maps (none of the DLC I have). Quests remain, but access has been upped and it's still unclear if I can get to the new levels without the DLC (I assume I can, but unsure as of now). And they've added an area I don't have access to (which is understandable) but it seems they may be putting rotating content there that was accessible to me before (we'll see)

I'm fine with no access to new content. I'm fine if most people move onto new stuff. But I'm annoyed when multiplayer is segmented in such a way that I can't use the stuff I have

When someone is not brandishing a weapon, officers should be reaching for their Taser (or other less lethal weapon) instead of their pistol
