The company doesn't like it when you grab a dom object and start modifying it because it's never guaranteed to be named the same way after a patch.

But it's about the only damn way to modify something on the user facing page that isn't in the settings.

Well.. as long as I've been using it, the IDs are consistent.

They just don't promise it'll always be that way.

so you can't ask support questions where you modify a dom object.
