The biggest problem with it to me (from the theoretical buyer's perspective) is if you buy special items in one mode they don't necessarily carry over to other play modes like hardcore and classic mode (partly because Classic doesn't actually do resources in the same way, you just get standard guns instead of the build-your-gun system)

The build-your-gun system was actually pretty cool on it's own, but it majorly broke the pace of the game as you'd stop and spend 5 minutes fiddling with gun parts as all the necromorphs kindly wait

One of the things about Dead Space is you were almost never safe. Just because your inventory screen is open does'nt mean something's not stalking behind you ready to tear you a new one as you manage your items

Yeah. To me the upgrade circuts struck the right blance. Few and far between, straight upgrades, no takesies-backsies. Trips to the upgrade station were short

Also the rapid fire weapons were stupid. Dead Space shouldn't really have military weaponry, though I'll excuse the Pulse Rifle since it's been in since DS 1
