@PeterGrace I think we had a couple of people offer to help out with it but no decision I can recall was made as to whom would be the lead.. I figured that would be whoever was paying for it to get reimbursed
@GnomeSlice I think the problem with that plan is that the access to the "community run" server is limited to a few people, so trying to set up mods for custom events is painful
this is supposed to be a little more open to the community
I think it took around 40min and a death or two for the server to calm down but I woudl also say it looks like 1.2.5 just has some horrid multiple issues with more then like 5-6 people connected to it.
(The memory leak in the client seems to be back from 1.2.3 as well)
The hope for the server is that it can run ANY game we want it to for a Game On. The secondary thought was that when there are no scheduled events for that server, that it can just run something quietly
I think with the last game on we did we had 9 people and we had to bump the Amazon cloud server up to 6GB before we were down to a 2-3 second lag in most players
As mentioned it got better with time
@MarcoCeppi would know the exacts of what we had to do as he is the one who set the server up for us.
@James the daedric ones I just sort of powered through a couple of days ago. Most of them are pretty short. I have a pile of unique artifacts in a box or something now. The companions I did early on, but I didn't find it to be a particularly engaging quest line, tbh
@PeterGrace I also have a suspicion that it could have just been the initial scattering of people, but it was somewhat laggy when we were all next to each other as well.
At the end of the day, Minecraft's code leaves quite a bit to be desired.
OK, let me be frank: I've asked a few times now who should be involved and so far James has been the first person to really say "yes, I definitely need access", so , that's why I said hand it over to him. I don't want this to turn into a pissing contest or conflict; I don't know how you guys run your management of gameon, who's involved, etc. I don't want this to turn into a boondoggle.
Can more people have access to the same account? Absolutely! Tell me who needs it.
I'm not going to babysit this 24/7, I will happily help when needed, but I want to give you guys as much control as a community as possible.
@PeterGrace I've been running the Game On! servers for TF2, Minecraft, and Mumble so far. I'm a Linux System Admin at my current job and would be more than happy to help maintain the server for the community
@MarcoCeppi my thought process is that we'll run separate games under separate user accounts. This allows for sort of "closed islands" where one team doesn't necessarily need to have access to everything on the server.
@MarcoCeppi Sounds like a good candidate to me as well for a Lead if you wanted one still @PeterGrace. But yeah for ease of mod testing/dev with multiple people, access would still be good :)

The tutorial explains two of them - armour and engineer, but when actually playing games, there is a much larger variety. At the very least, there's Dark Forest, which does damage, and then there's Magical Forest, which I presume is offensive as the AI activated it in the middle of my forces, but...

Here is one question though with the multiple accounts for different games.. People in Game A will not be able to shut down Game B to run their event in A?
@PeterGrace I am pretty sure Minecraft has code in it to see how many people are running on a computer system, not just its own server, so that it can lag appropriately no matter how you try and balance it out :)

@James That could be indicative of something, but the most important thing to look at is whether under our current rules the question would be allowed. If it wouldn't be allowed and we leave it anyway it sets a bad precedent

@Sterno Yeah I have to say that just about everything @badp listed as a reason to keep health questions I have heard the exact same phrases used to nix numerous other questions/topics.. Seems a bit odd.. And while I can make an argument for legal because it is a regional application of logic, Health seems too individualized and right up there with 'Well this is how long it took me to beat ME3' sort of responses.
@murgatroid99 There's a nifty new historical lock feature we could use. It has a big disclaimer saying "This question doesn't meet our current rules." but it's still visible to everyone.
They're still closed and off-topic, not able to be used for precedent, but visible to people who liked the information there.

I am really struggling in early game against zerglings and banelings. Early in the game I have bunch of marines and mauraders but they get owned no matter how hard I try to micro.

I recently bought Dragon Age Origins for PS3. It is the Ultimate Edition so it came with Awakenings and all the other DLC. It looks like all the DLC is modular and isn't integrated into the regular game. Do I need to just play the the DLC separately?? Or do they tie in with the main game???
