GnomeSlice you're a quality user and every witty comment, tag, and question title you make will undoubtedly save our site. In recognition of your outstanding achievements I'm promoting you to mod.
I don't know how to quote stuff, but: "The branching storyline's shape is based on your successes or failures; you will never have to replay a failed mission"
Does that mean you can fail every single mission and still accomplish something?
Or is it just a story about how you're a failure at life and you should feel bad?
I don't either, that's probably why there's a ~10% chance every time I launch a game or full-screen video that my display starts flashing, solarizes and locks my computer up
then I need to remove my GPU and blow on it or something to get it to work again
maybe my PCIe slot blows, dunno
or the GPU
or my RAM
or my mobo
are there any RAM check utilities I can put on a flash drive and boot from it?
don't have any CD-Rs

puppy linux probably has one and it can fit into about 100 mb of flash space
I was assigned to kill an NSF leader on a plane in LaGuardia National Airport, but Paul has been urging me to side with the NSF. My murderous nano-aug superior is insisting that if I don't kill the guy, SHE will do so. It felt like a serious breaking point with major plot ramifications.
On my fi...
Oh man, I so wanna play Space Marine... but I know I'm not going to have much play time until like... October, so signing up for the grant feels churlish. :(
Could not find this on here, sorry if it is. As a specific example, this question about the earliest game with a major escort component.
OP even doubts if it fits here, however, the question seems to have a well defined scope and the potential answers, though they might be less specific than som...
Warning: potential spoilers if you've not finished at least once
So I've been playing through New Game+ in Bastion, I'm on the 3rd or 4th Shard now so quite far.
At the start of the game, and I mean right at the start, I heard an echo of Rucks saying "Maybe I'll see you in the next one" before ...
There is a door in the Derelict Row sewers that clearly has an area behind it, but does not open. Is it part of a quest or do I need to find a switch/terminal? I am still in act 1.
I'm building a game.
Each character has an energy bar. It's red when it's in the low, and green when it's full.
I'd like to make it obvious for the user to see that the bar is progressing ( getting full ) when he's playing with the character.
So far I've been thinking about making the bar glow...
Currently, when I create a custom game in League of Legends and add bots, I can only select the following champions : Annie, Sivir, Soraka, Nasus, Malphite, Shen, Master Yi.
Is there a way to unlock more champions in custom game mode ?
When playing a League of Legends custom game, whatever the champions I may select in my team, I always end with :
two bots going on the bottom lane
one bot going on the middle lane
one bot going on the top lane
Beside the complete lack of sense in some choices (Shen in middle lane is quite co...
I think I've found the game I was looking for, namely Rock'n'Roll from 1989. But the thing is, the interface seems older than I remember it. I played it on a PC, from a floppy disk. Might I have played an updated version?
If anything, could someone provide me a download link? I imagine it would ...
Seeing that The International tournament has finished (and therefore DOTA 2 previewed) are any DOTA users able to list the differences/similarities? -- I'm sure Valve wanted to stay true, but have they?
(Ignoring the beautiful new graphics, non warcraft 3 mod and network connectivity improvements)
Mmmmhmmm... My Dwarf Fortress process appears to be unkillable
This is so weird... I'm trying to name a point, when suddenly the game won't respond to keypresses any more (though it is still running), and the process doesn't respond to the usual "click on the close button" or even pkill
When playing Rome: Total War as a non-Roman faction, how is the game affected? In particular:
How do the units affect strategy? For example, are non-Roman basic infantry weaker than Roman hastati?
Is the selection of units smaller than Rome? Does it matter?
Does the game suffer from any major g...
First, a confession: I never played games on Facebook because I found them all annoying, and I generally don’t use Facebook a lot anyway. I’m a Google fanboy though, so I’m on Google Plus a lot more. When Games for Google launched, I decided to give them all a try, and see what I’d make [...]
I am on one of the first level of NOVA 2, where I entered in a factory, and jumped in a Mech. I am then taken in a room where I have to destroy four tanks, and two Mechs; from there, I have to go in another room, but the Mech doesn't pass through the door. I tried finding another path to reach th...
Let it be said first, that I really enjoyed the (first?) Lemmings game. Not enjoyed as in obsessed-and-beat-all-levels, but I thought it was a great game.
Now, I'm looking for something similar for my Win7 platform and I find there's all these spinoffs (ptooh) and remakes (barf) that are all ...
I forget the exact term but maybe it's severely unbalanced and they all line up behind you to get a massive speed boost from you and each other, before splitting off and passing
well
clearly the AI cheats and/or you need a better car
I just can't do fucking shit about it. This car is too heavy; that's why it has the best acceleration of all cars; it needs every little bit of that, and it still is far from being enough

I am looking for a mod or something which would allow me to keep some chunks loaded on the SMP server I administrate.
In fact, it is a redstone circuit including a clock under a huge mob trap which triggers some pistons and water bringing loots regularly to a point. This would allow mobs to spaw...
> If anything, could someone provide me a download link?
That does seem to imply that the download link is what he wants most of all
still we're not the site to be asking for that, so it's the difference between settling for knowing what game he wants to find and then searching for the download link or knowing nothing at all
I think I've found the game I was looking for, Rock'n'Roll. It's a top-down maze game from 1989, and I played it on a PC, from a floppy disk. But the thing is, the interface seems older than I remember it. Now I am wondering if there are multiple versions of the game.
So are there multiple vers...
@badp 2) Siberia is in fact connected to the rest of Russia, and you kind of need to go through it to get to the Pacific coast of Russia. Otherwise, you have to go through China or Korea basically.
When editing, should console names/brands have capitalization corrected? Are there correct capitalization (should a list be compiled)?
E.g. should xbox be edited to Xbox or playstation/Playstation to PlayStation?
@badp 3) It's primary usefulness is for large scale shipping. Once you have a rail line and a tunnel that's linked up to the transit networks on either side of the ocean, you can essentially cut ships out of the equation. Which is huge.
@LessPop_MoreFizz I'll just echo @badp without actually saying what he said, but giving the impression that I have the same message to deliver so as to perform such an echo without saying such.
Does anybody know how Machinarium handles save states? I put about a half hour into it the other day, clicked 'Save,' and then quit.
Loaded it up today to continue and lo and behold, my save game was nowhere to be found.
One caveat is that I don't have internet access currently...is it possibl...
@Powerlord Well, much like Gravatar being blocked isn't a norm for you, so campus, therefor, isn't a norm for you. Does this mean you can access Gaming, though?
is the concept for Tetris in the public domain or is there someone who is still collecting royalties on the concept? I mean, if I were to write a variant of Tetris would I owe somebody some money?
Thanks.
We get a question every few weeks that isn't really a question about game development, but a question about copyright or contract law.
I really do not think such questions have a place here; by their nature they are specific to the person only. The only acceptable answer is "talk to a licensed p...
The game, name, and all associated works of Tetris are owned and trademarked by The Tetris Company.
The concept of tetrominos, however, are not owned by anyone. Though The Tetris Company's website indicates the term 'Tetriminos' is in fact trademarked.
Whether you can create a clone of Tetris u...
You can imagine my disgust every time I clean the WC unit.
so the question is if it's just my WC being monted weirdly, if it's just this block where things are done this way, or if it's a more common thing in Netherlands.
I wanted to ask here first before I ask other people I don't really know around here, because "hey where is the hole in your WC" doesn't sound like a great conversation starter.
