> Even though the overworld map tries to lead you to think otherwise, Station 37 is a pretty short game, and can be beaten in the span of about half an hour or so.
I would like to play in a water world. I have looked for a good seed, but nothing really shows up. I am wondering if there is a way I can hack to flood an entire world.
I have always thought that a counter attack meant an attack that Player A does as Player B is doing a big push. In other words, a counter attack by definition can only exist as a response to an attack.
However, I have seen a lot of casters (including day[9]) use the term counter attack as a syn...
I've been playing Darksiders over Steam, and decided to check on my achievement progress. To my surprise, I seemed to be missing some of the "gimme" achievements, i.e., those achievements that simply represent making progress through the story.
For example, I'm missing the achievement awarded fo...
its an adventure game with japan language, scrolling (left - right) action with 3 main character:
a black cowboy with long ranged gun
a women white shirt black pants with close ranged sword but more attack power
and a guy with green clothes black pants, low ranged gun but he can uses any items th...
I'm talking about this http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html . It's an awesome product! I'm an avid gamer, so I like recording my games.
My system can handle Fraps just fine, however I'm curious if there's a PCIe solution to this so I can offload the work from Fraps to said PCI...
I'm trying to figure out the name of an old first person shooter-ish game (although, I don't remember any actual enemies) from early-mid '90s. Here's what I can remember:
First person
Many vehicles, including at least a jeep that you could get into and drive
I think you could throw a grenade of...
I've never seen any information about the distribution of biomes in a generated world.
First, are all types of biomes, guaranteed to exist in a world? Will I always find snow somewhere, and desert somewhere? I've got one world that doesn't seem to have cactus (so I guess the sand is beaches, no...
So like...It's less that I'm not a fan @Wipqozn. I thought that Dark Knight was very interesting and different. It's just that it's way too dark for my tastes.
Basically apparently Jeff objected to the idea of uncensored questions revolving around such delicate subjects as poop and breasts appearing on the stack exchange feed of hot questions.
English objected to his objection. Both dig their hooves in, no progress is made. Beloved moderator of English leaves as a result of all the fighting.
@Powerlord So like I'm still trying to figure out how I stand on that. Part of me really wants to be like "it's just a site maaaaan, let it go and chill", since I feel like a lot of the drama is the result of the community's refusal to go along with Jeff. But part of me also thinks it's right that they're refusing.
Highly watched, highly voted upon topic that just... disappeared... because Jeff didn't like people criticizing the change.
@Wipqozn The envelope was the indicator that would tell you if you'd had reputation changes and what questions they were on. Basically, it'd light up if there was new stuff for you to see. It was replaced by the much inferior (and, at its launch, quite buggy) arrow dropdown.
Maybe it's because I'm not highly emotionally invested in anything about the SE sites aside from a few people, but I don't really see why it's such a huge deal.
What with all of the hubbub lately, I want to focus on asking one specific question that I think is at the core of the problem/drama: Is EL&U succeeding?
This is fairly open-ended and I think that is fine. The intent is to try and start locating things for us to work on or, at the very least...
Essentially, it seemed like he was saying that in order to attract experts, they needed to police and mod more strictly and that the few questions they had on the site asking to explain jokes were a slippery slope of Doomy (he made an executive decision to close all those last week)
And one of the mods, Kosmonaut, who is like the #2 person in rep on the site and also the kind of expert that SE wants (he's a linguist), was rather dismayed about the heavy handedness of the whole thing and decided to leave the site
In a song video made by an American acquaintance, there is a joke that I don't understand.
I am not a native speaker, and I guess most English speakers would understand what makes his joke funny.
Is it on-topic to ask what is the meaning of his play on words?
As asked by Jeff Parker, here is...
basically, EL&U comm was pretty upset that a guy who only has 127 rep on the site and has asked one question, owner of the network or not, just kind of barged in with his big stick without discussing stuff with a site that's supposedly supposed to be community run.
I started FIFA11 just as any other day. But now the FPS was very low. I saw on the desktop gadget that all 4 cores on my i5 were at 100%. I tried to play nonetheless but it was unbearably slow. So i quit and checked the windows action center which showed 2 problems: that something was wrong with...
The "vulgarity" issue wasn't the impetus, as those questions have remained open, but he used them as "proof" that the site was going downhill and did not cater to experts. It's the joke questions that he decided to close singlehandedly.
Anywho, the linked questions contain the general idea of what's been going on on EL&U, and if you really want more, the chat transcript for their room should be enough.
Now I'm gonna stop thinking about drama and go play more Rock Band
I am wondering if two people have the same single player mods on a Minecraft SMP server, will they be able to use them as if they were a server mod?
For instance if we were the only ones on the server and we both had aircraft mod, could we build aircrafts?
I have been playing Garry's mod for a while now,
but i keep wondering; what Addons are most prefered?
if annyone know some real usefull, funny or needed ones
then please give me or link and tell me what it is for.
thanks (sorry for my bad english)
A lazer gun with unlimited ammo that has 5 shots before needing to reload that has an alt fire that uses all 5 shots to fire a charged shot that disables nearby buildings, mini-crits players, and sets players on fire. Its downsides are no critical hits and half damage versus buildings.
In Grand Prix Story, I've just won the first Grand Prix. When I entered the championship, the game told me about how having multiple groups can really help (also every time you research/upgrade something, you have to select the group that should perform the work)
But when I attempt to hire new d...
Can I play the DLC from the point where I completed the main game story-line, or do I have to back up to some save-game that I created before I entered the final battle?
My memory is a bit fuzzy on this, but I will try my best.
Time frame is late 1990's, 1995-1996?
The game played out as a 3rd person shooter I believe, though it wasn't bloody or that violent. The main gameplay mechanic of the game was the fact that you could wear different heads or masks that g...
I played a PC spelling game when I was a kid, probably late 90s. I don't know the title but I refer to it as "Voodoo Spelling" because your character was some sort of native and you encountered wind spirits, fire spirits, etc. in the game. There were also tigers that would eat you and elephants...
What is the fastest way to gain experience in Gears of War 2?
I'm well aware of the events that are regularly held that give experience multipliers. I'm more interested in knowing what gametypes and playing styles offer the easiest way to gain experience quickly.
Another (bad) example:
What is the explanation for this joke - I just don't get it...
I do not feel that "explain this joke to me" should generally be on topic on a site ostensibly for
linguists, etymologists, and (serious) English language enthusiasts
In fact, I feel such questions t...
@badp but yeah, inb4 this whole Jeff Atwood vs the world destroys stack exchange and we're all forced to go to yahoo answers (shudders at the thought of it)
> @kia the largest symptom of the problem is the words "I don't speak English, and..." which immediately tells you the question will not be of interest to "linguists, etymologists, and (serious) English language enthusiasts". Not because that person is bad or wrong, but because it is at entirely the wrong level.
So, wait, does this mean people who are learning programming can't post on StackOverflow any more?
> Jokes are far more often about culture than language, though of course there are a few that I would support like the Will Farrell one, where the crux of the joke is language.
I feel like whenever I read guides they never talk about positioning. I'm wondering what are the most useful positioning tips? I know not to run into the middle with a ranged carry but is there a more exact science?
We’re excited to share an in-depth look at just some of the confirmed speakers for DevDays 2011!
