@FallenAngelEyes They can only block one direction, but it's whatever direction your sword is currently at unless you move around to a different side, and it seems like most of the time when you do that they move almost as quickly.
@badp I'm honestly not sure. I know that with many games, even with the non-motion+ versions, you could get away with doing much less exaggerated movement than what the game suggested.

In Skyrim, when I backstab an enemy his allies notice, even if they're facing the opposite direction and I kill the target in one hit. This makes it difficult to ambush a column of soldiers escorting a prisoner.

Bokoblins are a very common enemy in Skyward Sword, and they're clever enough to anticipate your swings and block them. I'd like to kill them in a much smoother fashion than I have been. What movements do Bokoblins read, and how can I ensure I always swing where they're vulnerable?

I have several melee squads in my current Dwarf Fortress game. These squads use a mix of melee weapons to have fun, swords, axes, maces.
Are there any advantages or disadvantages of using a mixed melee squad, instead of for example using a squad of only axe dwarfs?
@GraceNote I think it wasn't really designed to have that many different tags, ie, more like the amount of tags should approach some limit on a SE site after a while. I'm curious to hear what you think though.

I think I follow. I think as humans, when we categorize, we don't always pick the most optimal subdivisions. Using game names seems logical to us, I suppose.
I guess also our questions tend to be quite a bit more specific to a given situation. You can ask a pretty generic python question, but you can only infrequently ask a pretty generic xbox question or RPG question.

a solution to a "good question" (generic problem) in another discipline is generally widely applicable. a solution to a situation in a game is extremely game-specific.
knowing how to kill a boss in super mario bros. does me no good if I'm only interested in the legend of zelda; knowing how set operations work in python can be applied in many situations.
I think the problem gets worse over time everywhere though, eventually a tag is just too broad to properly segment questions regardless of how good it is previously. by their nature they're metadata that users must provide though, so all operations on them are generally manual
I think the synonym concept is pretty good, it establishes a limited hierarchy (the two sets of questions that use the tag are equivalent) but it seems like proper subtags would go a long way.
