@GiantCowFilms Yeah, but using named options helps standardize how people vote, and ensures that they are voting on story quality specifically instead of other features.

One complex environment for sure

its really one complex one, and maybe another two that will probably be able to be done to the most minor minor degree.

Those can be really sketchy though

@Gwenn did you even read the pitches? you gave the pancake moderate particle sims when it involves an entire flaming kitchen receiving major screen time!

@Gwenn BTW, projected length will be WAY easier to determine with scripts

Infact its worthless trying to predict that since SO many of these films can have variable length

BTW - those judging my ability to guess render times, I will point out its based on a fairly simple pricipal

Render times, in cycles, are largely based on the shaders involved.

Knowing the shaders, I can easily guess the required number of samples, and how long it will take to get those samples

Now I'm not totally accurate, but my estimated times have a 40% accuracy range

(as in, if you multiple the time I guess by .4, the actual time will be close to within that range)

and for an animation, we should be aiming for under 3 min per frame, so 40% error isn't going to put me out by that many minutes.

Soooooo the deadline was 7 UTC, right? I'm not sure when that is, but I figure it was either a while ago, or is right now... Anyone have a last minute pitch?

@Gwenn you angel pitch really needs more fleshing out, otherwise it will get a Okay Story from me, because you haven't proved it can meat the other criteria.

After reviewing my WIP poll I was rather disappointed to notice none of our pitches score very well on the ending portion. I'd be cool to see some with gag or twist endings.

I really liked the Kiwi one where he died, and the Ormie one where his head got stuck in the jar - none of ours are like that.

(Infact, in my mind, nearly all our pitches are less DIY animation ideas as much live action suitable ideas)

Oh well....

I'm slightly mad though that people aren't being objective

cause if we are giving overly exadurated scores to boost certain pitches or sink them, everyone needs to be doing that

you give it points, for succeeding in each category, out of a cap doesn't matter what cap

you then take the max possible points (all the caps together), and find out what gives five when divided by it.

you divide your point totals by that

the key is that you weight categories

here is an example using the example chart

I'm going to look at the ruleless racing pitch

It has humor +1 point

it has good character (but not much focus on them) so I will give it +1 out of 2 points

It has a satisfying conclusion (a winner) +3 ponts

it has interpreting action +2 points

and 0 in all the other categories

The max points it could have earned are 12

so if we take the total points it earned, 7

Now we take the max possible points, and find X such that 12/X = 5, which is 2.4

Ahh!!

Finally, we divide 7 by 2.4

to get a score of 3
