@Myself - It's legal for a company to track their own vehicles, which is what I assume this was. The car was wrecked and subsequently sold. If insurance was involved in it, the company might not have had the opportunity to remove the device from the car. The person who did the rework on the car probably didn't know about it. I found it, now it's gone: I'm not worried about it anymore.
