Totally unmotivated today.

So, it goes like this:

(Stop me if I'm wrong or obvious) Hub: basically rebroadcasts every received packet from all connected devices to all other devices. Aka, spam. It's one step removed from UDP.

Switch: slightly smarter, can filter based on subnet, etc.

They don't send everything upstream.

Router: super-smart, relatively speaking. Big advantage is that they're programmable, unlike any switch or hub I've seen.

But, I am NOT an IT guy. (Despite most people's belief that programmers are in IT. I can't do the IT guys' jobs any more than they can do mine.)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Big brother is watching. Tempted to go yank the mirrors off of my fleet of vehicles.

In other news, I finally swapped the shocks and brakes swapped over from the SoS to the GXP. I miss the e-brake, but other than that, things are good.

My helper used an impact to put the wrong nuts on the shocks. (they're different between the stock and BC coil-overs I have). Those suckers are never coming off. In his defense I spent a good 30 minutes (after working on this for 9 hours) trying to figure out why the nuts wouldn't fit on the other car.

Doing shocks isn't bad. Installing brakes isn't bad. Doing both, on two cars, takes awhile.

@3Dave - I'm doing well. I'll be taking the Subaru down to my son this weekend. Going to make a whirlwind tour down and back on Friday so I can get the trailer back to Uhaul and not get charged for two days or extra hours. I'm bringing a '91 Camaro Z28 back with me. I'll then have to 3rd Gens in my driveway ... oh ... the ... joy. Probably my least favorite (no, actually it is my least favorite) generation of Camaro and I own two of them.

Just need to get them fixed and sold so I can have some money to either work on the truck or possibly buy a 5th Gen Camaro (down payment, anyway).

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 5th gen. That's a nice car. My brother-in-law had a ZL1 for a bit. Made me miss the 'Vette, mostly just because of the HUD.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 My first car as an '96 Camaro with a 305. And a crappy automatic that did not have 2nd gear.

But, hey - for $1200, what should one expect?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Oh - just got an email from the strut manufacturer. Apparently the studs are actually wheel studs, relatively easy to replace. They're sending me some, with nuts. For cost of shipping.

These experiences are like recharging your laptop / phone / other device that you can't live without. (sigh.) Just when it's about to die, something reaffirms your faith in humanity and bumps it back up to 70%.

@3Dave - If a 96, it wouldn't have had a 305 ;-) 96 either came with a 350 (V8) or 3.8L (V6) ... so if a Z28, you got the 350 :o)

@3Dave - That's pretty kewl.

@3Dave - I like the HUD. They didn't put it in the '10 ... started in '11, but I don't know if they continued it into the 6th Gen or not.

I would love a ZL1 ... absolutely love the performance of them and they can be made faster pretty easy. Problem is the cost.
