There's a lot to do and you can play it with a bunch of different styles. But it's as glitchy as ever (on the one hand, not like I could do better, but on the other hand, it's a triple-A product from a top studio) and you're still limited by the preprogrammed dialog options. I'm kinda disappointed by the lack of weapon options, too.

Hi @Pops. Don't I deserve the Archimedes hat too? I only created the Secret Hats question on meta SE to report about Odinson being given for using the dupe hammer (which I discovered when I used the dupe-hammer power to close a question from the close votes queue, which I did in order to get the Melpomene hat). I created that question from the Android app (which got me the Field Work hat). Then my phone's battery was getting low, so I went out of bed to my laptop....@

...When I opened the door to the room where it was, my baby boy (whom you can see on my profile picture) woke up and started crying, which delayed me several minutes. Then I discovered Quill posted an answer about Odinson 15 second before I did (though he didn't add the part that the user using the gold-badge hammer also gets the hat until I commented about it).

...Well, even if I don't get the Archimedes hat, the secret hats question/answers also got me the Onion Knight, Sun Wukong, Cerro de Potosi and Do it yourself hats, so at least I got that going for me, which is nice. P.S. I wonder if I can expand this story to cover all the Winter Bash 2015 hats. There should be some hat awarded for that :)

@Pops OK, it's your call. The irony is that I was one of the "I hate Eureka/Archimedes" people last year. I think it's fun discovering the secret hats and the ways to obtain them, but I dislike hats being awarded manually. It seems somewhat arbitrary or at least lacking transparency.

I think the lack of transparency kinda sorta worked to our advantage the first year, when people weren't banding together as much to try to "solve Winter Bash" and spoilers weren't as much of an issue. But now if we're hanging out in one chatroom and not another and then someone posts to Meta SE or somewhere else fairly public... I dunno, that hat's time may have gone.

@Pops Eureka was a bad idea from the start. It was two years ago, it was last year, is this one and probably will be the next year. Begin an hat that only some people can get, and since the criteria is pretty open to interpretation, the hat will forever be a cause of flaming and discussion between the users.

I got it two years ago, I somehow got it last year (I never understand how was the "Who discovered the criteria for the Tardis hat" thing handled) and I don't know if I will this year. But every year that passes, I am more inclined in thinking it is a bad idea.

Already, many hat just seem to hang in front of new users (or ones on sites with very low traffic), dancing and singing "Sorry, hats are only for elite members".

Unfortunately, at this point, some people won't believe that we're retiring it, so they'll keep on trying to get it, and when they don't, they'll work on figuring out the extra trick we added ("oh, maybe you have to guess it within an hour of it showing up for the first time!") So if you don't like that hat, things are probably ruined for at least another half of a Winter Bash.

(btw, no offense @Pops, but with "harder hats trigger" I think many meant things like this one example above - using konami code, posting an haiku.... not just increased rep or privilege requirements. @Pops My current Onion Knight theory - You have to post a question. After the question receives a critical number of views (my current guess is 500), you need to get 5 (again, a guess) new upvotes in order to obtain the hat. This is consistent with the fact that I got many votes before getting the hat on MSE, and that others got the hat for far fewer upvotes than I did. It also explains why hot questions are likely to get the hat (they get a boost of views to bring them past the ...

...500 limit, and then some of those extra views generate the required new upvotes). My 500 guess is based on the fact that I got the hat several hours before reaching 1000 views (I checked when I got the badge for that), and I'm assuming some round number is required.
