@AbbyTMiller I don't think you want to do gamesage.com. gamesages.com links to IGN and, a long time ago, there used to be a porn site squatting on gamesage.com to catch people who missed the s. Google and the internet have a long memory, so I'm not sure if it will, but it might hurt us
i like gamescience as a word, and gamestack as a name, but i feel like neither fits with the other named SE sites. Reload Save and Another Castle are the only ones i think "match" with Stack Overflow, Seasoned Advice, Ask Different, Server Fault, etc.
@fredley it's true, but i think it's a strong part of the gaming culture, so to speak. it's much more identifiable with gaming in general than something like "the cake is a lie" for example
I'm still most happy with arqade. It's a strong name, it's short and clever. Yes there's the joystiq problem, but given it's got nothing to do with qa I'd be happy to go with it.
The name probably doesn't have to be inclusive of everything. I think Ben was referring to the fact that its a more esoteric branding and that not all of the intended userbase would understand it.
Not necessarily. If it's an idea that has gained enough traction to be known well enough it should be fine. I think the point is that it should be understood by the majority target audience if it bears any specific associations, even if it doesn't hold to their specific reason for being here - not all games have "levels" but everyone who plays games gets the idea.
In some ways, INTUP/WISUP is actually too generic and may not be associated with gaming at all.
