Q: Laboratory and commercial preparations of aniline other than reduction of nitroarenes

Aksh SarmaTill now I could only find one laboratory preparation of aniline, i.e. reducing nitrobenzene with $\ce{Sn}$ and concentrated $\ce{HCl}$. I'm confused if Hofmann degradation is only commercial. I'd like to know if there are other processes to prepare aniline in laboratory.

How long should I wait before I place a bounty on my question? (It has 15 upvotes, yet there seem to be very little amount of actual activity on the post)

@Safdar I'd give it two more days

@Safdar I think it may not work. This question probably won't get satisfactorily answered, and you might get some random dudes telling you what you already said in question.
@Mithoron True.. It seems there isn't a proper explanation for this.
At least I don't see a proper answer without something like modelling vdW surface or maybe rather solvent accessibility
There is a paper that dealt with surface area that was calculated for 2-methylpentane but not 3-methylpentane (not sure which was calculated).
Thing is even that might prove somewhat inconclusive as you ask about rather subtle thing. Maybe real good simulation with molecular dynamics combined with analysis of interactions...
@Safdar would be something for a start perhaps
Sooo, unless there are already papers in this, I doubt someone's gonna make a new one to answer ;D
@Mithoron I'll just let it stay there.. and remember that trend for now..
@Mithoron This was the paper academia.edu/25385484/…

@Safdar If I'm honest it sounds like one of the pointless "why"s in the science. Why does the Earth's crust have this much aluminum and not more, or less? It's a very difficult question to answer satisfactorily, but it's not guaranteed to teach you anything.
Ultimately it'd end up being two or several competing factors which you weren't taught, and some are going to happen to outweigh the others' effects.
@M.A.R. I just had this question after seeing the trend. The conclusions seemed different to what was accepted and so decided to ask here. I agree with the "why" part, I wanted to see if someone knew a proper answer since the only answer for this is on quora which is an answer that is contradictory in nature.
