@orthocresol @FadedGiant Sorry for the ping. But would it be possible to IP ban this user. Seems as though his only goal in life is to convert EDTA into its chemical formula in this answer. chemistry.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/123433 Can
@hBy2Py I deleted the account... see response to your mod flag for more details (if you are interested).
Let's just say that all of you are being too kind to this person and that if SE had given us the tools to do so, I would have manually IP-blocked this person about 4 years ago.
@orthocresol How many spam rejects does it take?
11:13
I don't know.

Q: Why is black-body radiation curve smooth without a sharp cutoff?

The99sLearnerPlanck's law is able to predict a graph that is consistent with experimental observation: In essence, unlike Rayleigh-Jeans law that assumes equipartition theorem to hold (that each mode of motion shares equal energy at thermal equilibrium, so all modes excited at thermal equilibrium ⇒ ultraviol...

Huh!
Well, had I known, I wouldn't've spent the time crafting that comment. I just took him for an overly-zealous empirical-formula fan.
@hBy2Py What was it?
Well-known plagiarizer and spammer, apparently
@hBy2Py So it's just gonna keep happening.. great. well, free suggested edits for me :P

<nod>, looks like it... started back up with the anonymous edits again.

Q: Grasping the concept of Electronic Spin, Effective Spin and Fictitious Spin

Henrique JuniorTrying to learn alone some aspects of quantum mechanics is, sometimes, a struggle. Reading the excellent paper by Piwowarska (DOI 10.1007/s00723-018-1080-4) I was hoping to, finally, understand what is the origin of the so-called “fictitious spin $1/2$” in a $\mathrm d^7$ cobalt ion. If my cobal...

Ooh, wow, I can't even edit my own post when it's locked.
@orthocresol Thx - will see if a week is long enough to make him lose interest.

@hBy2Py May be overboard, but I reckon that nobody really wants to edit the post in the next week, except this guy. ;) It was quite funny reading your (very kind) comment to him.
Their modus operandi is quite unusual. They copy paragraphs of unformatted text from e.g. the first journal abstract they could find on Google, then post a comment on their own answer saying "Since I have given a correct answer to this user's question please award me a bounty worth +50 points in the next 7 days", then self-delete their account.
It has evolved, too. It used to be that they would just copy the text from somebody else's answer on the same question. Then it turned into (uncited) journal abstracts, then it turned into cited journal abstracts (there was no formatting or anything so we continued just deleting as spam), and at some point along the way, they started using mathjax to highlight the "+50" in really bright colours like cyan. (The abstracts are always completely irrelevant to the actual topic.)
Their posts usually get deleted almost instantaneously (sometimes not by us - Charcoal + community flags do it too), so very few people see that it's a recurring thing.
@sweetandtangy pdf is a lot better. equation formatting, figure layouts, etc. everything is just far better. I really dislike how the publishers only sell epubs nowadays.
@Safdar mods can delete accepted answers, yes, but we rarely have a compelling reason to... I am sure there are some (non-accepted) answers that some of us would like to erase from the internet...
17:16
@orthocresol What am I supposed to be looking at?
Don't look at it, is my advice.
@orthocresol Too late.. Why are there so many large answers for this Q? was this during Beta?
Early days of the site, yeah.
Not that I was around. I think I started in 2015.
@orthocresol So all the OP was asking for was an example for superoctet compound?
Well, yes, but many of the answers are muddled.
17:22
chemistry.stackexchange.com/revisions/447/3 Was this an allowed edit? @orthocresol
I am afraid that that was me who edited it. And as a mod, I can edit pretty much anything I like here.
@orthocresol Anyone above 2000 rep can edit right?
Yes, that is true too.
@orthocresol The lack of rep feels very weird now.. Used to depend on that small +2 for the edits.. Everything has a price :|
You can always downvote answers and get back to under 2000. I don't know if that lets you get points from edits again. Anyway, there is a cap on how much rep you can get from edits.
Or put bounties, if you want to be less grumpy.
As for me, I'm very grumpy and if possible I would like to be able to put negative bounties. Pay some of my own rep to put a gigantic "-200" sign saying that I thought this answer was that bad.
17:27
@orthocresol you need a good question that people understand.. Right now, everything I have a doubt in can be easily found given some time. May be later then.
@orthocresol An eye for an eye.. Way to break the rep economy.. Push for it in meta..
@orthocresol Also 90% of the time, it is frustrating seeing unreadable posts and not having the ability to correct it then and there.
My only suggestion is to choose where to use your powers judiciously. Editing everything is a great way to burn out quickly. Choose posts that have at least some basic content quality to edit.
meta.stackexchange.com/questions/98531/… Hmm.. A conspiracy theory [albeit smashed]..
18:14
@orthocresol Yes it would, and he's not even close to this cap.
@Safdar You still can get +2 for tag wiki edits
@Mithoron Hmm.. I have no clue what that is.. wait a min :P
tsk, tsk
And why should one wonder why they are in such a sorry shape ;)
@Mithoron How much can you edit those things? most of them have been here long enough for others to edit, aren't there a fixed number of possible edits before any edit becomes obsolete?
Huh?
@Mithoron :\ .. that isn't what I meant//
18:24
All of them as many times as you want?
Well, I wouldn't bother with the good ones
@Mithoron you know what.. I'll do that sometime in not so near future.. Thanks for pointing it out.. *thumbs_up
I do wonder if anybody really cares about tags.
Let alone tag wikis.
@orthocresol Is it a good idea to add a body for the tags?
Yes, but you need to be careful about what you write, as it will affect the scope and usage of the tag.
@orthocresol Martin has entered the room
18:35
@orthocresol Doing upto 50 does give you a badge [which no one cares about]
In all seriousness, there are no other ways for the newer meat to find out what tagging is supposed to mean and do other than tag wikis.
@M.A.R. +1
Also am I hallucinating or what. There are other people here than me.
My sock notwithstanding.
Mar 24 '17 at 21:02, by M.A.R.
@orthocresol Either you're my sock, or I'm yours. I'm going for the former, because I think I have a fully functional separate brain.
Three years later, that message is so cheesy but simple that I might say it again.

@FadedGiant WTH is Gender Reveal
@FadedGiant Does it violate the guidelines? Are there guidelines for titles?
A gender-reveal party (GRP) is an event or celebration had during pregnancy. The primary goal of this event is the eponymous "reveal" of the fetal sex to the expecting parents, family, and friends. Twentieth century medical advancement in early, reliable prenatal sex discernment has allowed the requisite information that underlies these events to develop.It is distinct from, but sometimes combined with, a baby shower, whose primary activity is gifting expecting parents with important supplies and items for their future infant's care and well-being. A large variety of methods are utilized, often...

Also realising that I've been here for 2 months whereas everyone else has been here here for more than 5 $\small{\text{I feel small.}}$
OK, not as woke as I imagined.
So next question. What does that have to do with that question?
Yes, there are guidelines for titles, but what has that to do with anything?
What does anything have to do with anything
@FadedGiant What is wrong then?
I'm going to have dinner before I throw some sort of exception.
BBL
18:43
I had to drive for nine hours today, so may I am too tired to see it.
@Safdar That's my question.
@FadedGiant you asked the actual person who suggested it?
@FadedGiant Seems pretty specific in my opinion, unless the word gender cannot be used in the title (looks perfectly legit)//
I wouldn't be surprised if now some SE employee appears and tells us that we are no longer allowed to talk about blue smoke for boys and pink smoke for girls because that would not be respecting other gender identities.
I probably need sleep.
Oh and now I see this is the same user:

Q: Is 1,2-diphenylbenzene aromatic?

Anindya PrithviBelow is a picture of a compound with $3$ benzene rings, where no two of them are in the same plane. An interactive model of the compound can be found here Question: Is this compound aromatic? I can see $3$ aromatic rings, which are unfortunately non planar and hence sparks a doubt. I do know th...

Get some rest master Loong
BTW can I still call you Loong? It doesn't contain any personally identifiable information or anything?
That's fine. I don't contain any personally identifiable information.
@FadedGiant sure just asking, because people sometimes change names so as not to be named by the previous name, but I've called you that for five years and can't stop
@M.A.R. Unless he's actual dragon, then it's not all that informational ;)
@Mithoron if you're like me that use the same username in multiple places the activities in both places can be linked
Granted, "M.A.R." does have PII but even if it didn't, doxxers would be able to use it to their advantage

Q: Asking questions with eye-catching highlight

Anindya PrithviRecently I asked a question which included all of the researched data and added with reference. In the clutter, I wished to point out my question so that it's easy to answer. But, it seemed that the point out was unwelcome. I used $$\text{}$$ to point out my question. So, in the heap of my data i...

Q: Is benzene a polymer of ethyne?

HabibIn one of my classes, my teacher told me that benzene can be formed by cyclic polymerization of ethyne. But I think that benzene isn't a polymer because only 3 ethyne molecules are combining to form benzene whereas, thousands of monomers are combined to form a polymer in a polymerization reaction...
