@Abcd we didn't have shakespeare drama ;p
@Abcd just rote learn... Can't help it really... :'(
I'm unaware of the new format of the literature paper, so I guess I dont have any advice.. :/
Back in the day I would just attempt the long answer, that way you could skip learning the intricate details...

6 hours later…
11:54 AM
@gaur do you want an issue if the citation helper doesn't recognise a doi (Ex: doi: 10.12691/wjce-3-3-4; pubs.sciepub.com/wjce/3/3/4) ... hmmm dx.doi.org/10.12691/wjce-3-3-4 DOI doesn't find it either... strange...
@GaurangTandon NEVERMIND they're on beallslist.weebly.com ; i.e. sciepub.com predatory...

12:42 PM
@Martin-マーチン can't help it. It's not present in CrossRef database :/
@Martin-マーチン hmm

@GaurangTandon That is absolutely not surprising...

indeed

1:04 PM
Yeah, just forget about it ;)

Zhe
@GaurangTandon rote "learn"

2:07 PM
@GaurangTandon thanks for the help, I hv some other questions which Ill ask later

Zhe
2:52 PM
I finally got the organic silver badge
Not sure I'll ever get the gold one at this rate...

3:03 PM
@Zhe nice
I still need 8 for bronze

3:58 PM
This answer may help, but it is not really the question. I'm saying: take a molecule, make the calculations, show $d$ orbitals are or are not really important in making the bond.Moreover, the first paragraph isn't really needed. 'I leave a few reading recommendations here.' Is all which is relevant if you're posting an answer. Moreover, I hope you're not voting to close the question and also answering it...It wouldn't be fair. — santimirandarp 5 mins ago
@santimirandarp I would never vote to close a question out of personal spite. This is an awful accusation. Moreover, I did not even cast a down-vote. I was trying to help you, but you do not deserve this.

@Zhe oh o.O
@Abcd k sure

user280247
@Martin-マーチン say what you want. You removed not only the answer but the previous comments, not only yours but also mines. I don't need to say anything else. I love learning and that's why I use this site.

user280247
4:15 PM
@Martin-マーチン Look I don't have any problem to do that, we are just letters and numbers (don't take this seriously XD). But if you really want to solve this issue, I prefer talking by mail or smth like that.

@santimirandarp No. I am a moderator on this site, and you have accused me of abusing my privileges. You did this in a public forum; this cannot be resolved in a private conversation.

user280247
4:38 PM
@Martin-マーチン I 've just said what happened...my comments dissapeared and I hadn't remove them...

@santimirandarp Are you denying that you accused me of abusing my moderator privileges?
@santimirandarp I have removed the comments and the answer after your violation of the Code of Conduct to give you a fresh start.

user280247
@Martin-マーチン Is this the supreme court of justice? Man you are angry but I'm just trying to learn, I've even edited the question XD.

user280247
Fine, so you've removed them, not only one comment but all of them...

user280247
In any case, I know you are smart and maybe a good person. I think you can be wrong sometime.

This is not the place to discuss any of that.

user280247
4:42 PM
That's why I offered to talk by email, two or three times XD

@santimirandarp I know that I am wrong sometimes, that is not the question. You have accused me of something that I have not done, and yes, I am very upset about this.

user280247
Oh jesus...you have said you did remove the comments :( --> :46889948

@santimirandarp I will not give out my personal email. I have had too many occasions where people have stalked me because they were clever enough to identify who I am in real life. Handing out my email would be very bad.
I am talking about Moreover, I hope you're not voting to close the question and also answering it...It wouldn't be fair.

user280247
I don't know even what stalked is, and I've been in correspondence with pentavalentcarbon with no problems...

user280247
Oh, I see. Yes that was my bad.

4:47 PM
Neither removing the answer nor my comments was abusing my moderator privileges. Anyone can do that. The only thing I also did was clean up comments that were out of context after that.

user280247
Maybe what bothers you was it was a public comment but I would have told you the same here...I'm sorry for that.

user280247
Well my comments dissapeared and I haven't removed them. That's a fact. Then you can be right about privileges and so on.

user280247
Look I won't extend this discussion...hope everything is clear enough...

@santimirandarp There was one comment I have removed on the question; there was one more comment I have removed on the deleted answer before converting this to a comment on a question.

user280247
Just in case someone is interested in, I've tried to answer the question of hexacoordinate-C about extraction, by asking in physics SE. This is the post ...physics.stackexchange.com/questions/430495/…

4:54 PM
@santimirandarp I don't want to engage in this discussion anymore either. Since all my actions on this site have severe consequences to normal users like you, I have asked the other mods to look into this and to check if I have been within my rights and duties, or if I have overstepped them. I am the last person to not admit to a mistake, and I would like to know from independent people where I went wrong. And I will have to live with the consequences.

user280247
@Martin-マーチン perfectly clear...

7:33 PM
Right... @santimirandarp, @Martin-マーチン, although I can see where both of you are coming from, your tone and language use don’t help the situation.
Something like “By the way, did you read crystal theory?”, although maybe not intended to be rude, could easily be construed as rude or condescending. This is doubly so over the Internet and it’s always good to err on the side of politeness.
I don’t think deletion of comments is an issue. The comments that were deleted made no sense without context, and deletion quite possibly works in your favour, @santimirandarp, as otherwise it looks as if you are going on a rant against Martin for no reason. And nobody around here will like that.
Lastly, it’s really not nice to accuse people of voting to close or downvoting, or to call a response “stupid”. It’s better to assume good faith in people, the world really needs more of that.

Zhe
@orthocresol +1 to that

user280247
7:58 PM
I agree

8:13 PM
[Sorry, I was busy.] With that said... @Martin-マーチン, some of your comments are also rather strongly worded, and I suppose it makes people more likely to react in a defensive manner. e.g. bolding "crystal field theory is obsolete" - although I agree - probably makes @santimirandarp feel like you are not willing to listen. And that can be really frustrating.
About the "superiority" of formal charge vs octet rule, I think the point is in determining the major resonance contributor, should the formal charges be minimised (i.e. five P-F single bonds, with no formal charges) or should the octet rule be obeyed (i.e. three P-F single bonds and two P+-F- ionic bonds), even though that leads to the creation of more formal charges.
In general I think the wording of the question is not very clear, but it can be improved. And there was no real need to be so harsh with some of the stuff written. I think that probably contributed to the current situation.
I find that if I'm irritated with something (e.g. bad chemistry), it's better to go away and maybe reply later if I feel like it, rather than trying to write something (which will inevitably come off as a little aggressive).

9:17 PM
@orthocresol That's not easy to do. I've had at least one question in the last week but it was a real battle of wills to not type a paragraph of snark
But you're right that walking away was the best approach, since in the end, I didn't type post that paragraph

Zhe
10:18 PM
@orthocresol When do you graduate?

10:52 PM
@Zhe Depends on which degree you're talking about ;) my undergrad is done. Just started my PhD yesterday.
That one should be done in 2022 or 2023..

11:36 PM
@GaurangTandon Is it possible to do Modern Physics by self study? Actually I want to leave FIITJEE now and just want to appear for their tests coz it's getting exhausting seriously... ? And topics like Metallurgy, Coordination chemistry?

Zhe
@orthocresol O_o Well, congrats on graduating. :D And where are you doing your PhD and in what?

11:50 PM
@Zhe tsk, tsk recurring invigilation ;)

Zhe
@Mithoron Busted

:D
@Zhe Why so much interest in others? (starts counterinvigilation ;)

Zhe
Not sure. I'm interested in what people are doing
Past a certain point anyway
I share pretty freely what I do, so I don't feel bad asking. No one has to tell me.
do/did

@Zhe what point?

Zhe
I'm more interested in what people who are doing research are doing
I'm been able to offer career advice a few times
networking, etc

11:59 PM
@Zhe Meh, as far as others go I'm rather interested in they actually know, specific interests - it can be easily shown and hardly can be denied.
