> The identity of butyraldehyde monomethoxy PEG is confirmed by staining the gel with iodine solution in the presence of barium chloride using vertical electrophoresis.
Is this a legit name of a chemical?
My brain is flatlining
Maybe there's a more correct name
I've translated from Russian word for word
I found this online
It must be it..
probably
Methoxy PEG Butyraldehyde?
Can it be not "mono"?
Can one attach several methoxy moieties there?

@CowperKettle It's not IUPAC or even particularly good name, but may be good enough. What "legit" name? You can name chemical however you wish

9:06 PM
@Mithoron but "butyraldehyde monomethoxy PEG" is not used, while "Methoxy PEG Butyraldehyde" is used
That's what I mean. The option with PEG at the end looks odd

@CowperKettle Both are bad, your alternative maybe even worse, still as long as you get it...

10:34 PM
what is "still as long as you get it"?
And why both are bad?

As long as you understand what compound it is
If you treat it as derivative of PEG then terminal hydrogens were substituted with methyl and dunno how to name, lets say 4-oxobutyl
Not really methoxy and butyraldehyde

I see (although I've forgotten the nomenclature, I kind of understand)
So there's a more "correct" name from the IUPAC standpoint
