I was told by my chemistry teacher that the carbanion formed in the picture above is non-planar. I don't understand why. It looks like benzene with an extra electron pair at one of the carbons so shouldn't it be planar?

In chemistry, a carbonate is a salt of carbonic acid (H2CO3), characterized by the presence of the carbonate ion, CO2−
3. The name may also mean an ester of carbonic acid, an organic compound containing the carbonate group C(=O)(O–)2.
The term is also used as a verb, to describe carbonation: the process of raising the concentrations of carbonate and bicarbonate ions in water to produce carbonated water and other carbonated beverages – either by the addition of carbon dioxide gas under pressure, or by dissolving carbonate or bicarbonate salts into the water.
In geology and mineralogy, the term ...
One Oxygen is double bonded attached to carbon, other two Oxygen are single bond attached to carbon with one negative charge,so total there are four bonds right?

I have a terrible [reaction] to your [reaction]. I agree on its removal, but what should we replace it with? IIRC some (more than 54) questions couldn't meaningfully have any other tags. — M.A.R.4 mins ago
> The new artificial synapse, reported in the Feb. 20 issue of Nature Materials, mimics the way synapses in the brain learn through the signals that cross them. This is a significant energy savings over traditional computing, which involves separately processing information and then storing it into memory. Here, the processing creates the memory.
That person tried to pic the photo in landscape mode,so by Default that photo got rotated,,,. Yeah it could have been rotated back, but it's a process ; though..
*what is the meaning of OP ( is it online poster ?) Consider not laughing at me ,as I really don't know lol, ;)
We've all seen it, we've probably all applied it at least once: reaction.
Yes, sometimes desperate times need desperate measures, and I admit I have used this one. And if I recall correctly, I even wrote the description:
This general tag should be used if the question is about a specific (se...
I'll keep this short and sweet, since I've gotta head off in 10 minutes. The tag heterocyclic-chemistry seems to have popped up recently. I think that this is a good tag to have, there are numerous books written on the topic and I had an entire course on it. There are already plenty of suitable q...
I searched the net and a lot of books but i was unable to find any information about Dichlorine Pentoxide.
So does Dichlorine Pentoxide($\ce{Cl2O5}$) exist?
If it doesnt exist then why so?
Dibromine pentoxide and Iodine Pentoxide does exit, then why not Dichlorine Pentoxide?
