A: Deriving the equation for oxygen estimation by Winkler’s method

Another.Chemist[Concepts] Normality, N: The normality is the relation between the sustance equivalence and the liters of a solution. $\uparrow$ Someone help this lost soul in fixing the MathJax using \textrm and writing the equations in mhchem.
13:01
@MAFIA36790 That's probably the least of the problems with this answer.
user116211
Haven't read it; it's bothering when you see such poor formatting.
Yes, I totally agree. And that could keep me from reading a text.
But in this case, it's not just typography.
The quantities in the equations are a mix of quantity symbols, quantity names, abbreviations, and unit symbols.
They are also mostly antiquated non-standard quantities ("normality", "weight equivalent gram", "weight equivalent number", "molarity").
And then suddenly a conversion factor of 1000 appears without any units.
13:25
@Loong Will you share in my hatred of Atkins?
13:36
@orthocresol ouch, yeah
13:46
@ortho @Loong A little assistance...where's the log out button?

@orthocresol yes, he used it numerous times in his book.
@paracresol Or do you just want to clear your current session?
user116211
I'm not sure about any new edition or so.
@Loong Yep...annoying little brother came over for Christmas and he's screwing around with my account (typing crap all over the site and such)... -_-
(I bet @Kau's gloating about this)
user116211
@paracresol Can't you let him use the browser in incognito mode/private window?
@MAFIA36790 Ah no...he's hell bent on screwing up my account...it's not like he's doing this accidentally -_-

@paracresol I can force you to be logged out. So you would have to manually log in again.
By the way @Mafia would you know how to go about this log-out business?
@Loong How does that work?
(It sounds promising)
user116211
@paracresol Actually, I'm not accustomed to that; but it's pretty bothering.
All eyes on Loong

14:17
@MAFIA36790 This is in Shriver & Atkins, 6th ed.
Neither Shriver nor Atkins are still authors. :)
user116211
@orthocresol We might have a copy or two in our university library; but am not sure.
user116211
Hey Jan!
Shriver passed away in 2013: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/anie.201306778/abstract and Atkins is in retirement.

ohh.

@Jan You already have more hats than Loong, don't you?

And that precisely is why I hate ‘intelligent’ systems.
@orthocresol The lab where I made my diploma thesis was connected to a "neutralizer" that looked like a small indoor swimming pool.
On that scale, the heat of neutralization was interesting.
And in the hot lab, you could even pour radioactive solutions down the drain.
I could hardly bring myself to do it.
That sounds dangerous ಠ_ಠ

in Ye Olde Hat Shoppe, 14 mins ago, by orthocresol
I can (almost) confirm that Blue in the Face requires 10 distinct upvoted comments during the Winterbash period. Number of upvotes doesn't matter.
My backup theory is that "Possible duplicate of..." comments don't count. You have two such comments, so I just tried giving two more upvotes.

To make a random guess, the following type of comment probably would’t count either:
> I’m voting to close this question as off-topic because I’m in a good mood today.

> I’m voting to close this question as off-topic because I could get a hat for that.

Q: What happened to writing ions with \ce?

Linear ChristmasI took a look at some old questions and noticed that some \ce{} expressions were not working as they should. I am especially interested in how to write polyatomic ions. @1,3-feeds My prediction has come true.
> With the current version of the mhchem extension of MathJax, the described workaround is no longer necessary. However, now the opposite workaround might become necessary in order to write a conforming formula such as $\mathrm{SO_4^{2-}}$ instead of the nonconforming version $\mathrm{SO_4{}^{2-}}$.
