This zero-point energy correction to a TS still doesn't make complete sense to me. I understand that by omitting the imaginary mode of vibration, you have a 'psudeo-gnd-state structure' in a way that lets you compute a ZPE. I guess I sort of understand what is going on but if I had to explain it to someone, I am confident that I wouldn't be able to convince them of anything.

Its just that ZPE is the difference between the first energy level and the energy of the equilibrium structure. A TS is only a 'quasi-equilibrium' structure...

@LordStryker It's all way over my head, so you've got a leg up on 99.999% of us! F'x is definitely the one to talk to as this is right up his alley
