Based on my knowledge of the events the mods did not like the responses to what was happening. (I was only around for the aftermath and also don't want to talk about it any more based on previous messages) My basic outline is enough from my end :)
@SQB Indeed, I'm just being cautious young padawan
Well, I'm just genuinely puzzled. For a couple of months, the room had been swamped with CMs, Richard got suspended, and now this. All without me having any clue about Dr. Who or What is happening.
I mean, this time there was a very obvious starting point, but how it got to the point of freezing multiple chat rooms instead of just kickmuting one user I have no idea
Mostly the tactic is that unless you were there you won't know the gritty details and if you were there you aren't supposed to share. Pureferret saw my previous message and deemed it okay, based on the response from Keen the Mods and CMs are actively looking to route out the trouble makers
@CandiedMango I understand that, but then someone like me just walks in, sees a number of friends suspended, the room nuked, but mustn't talk about it?
I agree that after a certain point, we shouldn't keep bringing it up, but like someone once said: > Users are not mushrooms, nor are they stupid. Keeping them in the dark never, ever helps.
2009-10-05: The user's account is no longer suspended. He was e-mailed with regards to this.
With regards to this user and the current account suspension.
These notes are taken from the Moderator annotations on the users account and has been ongoing since early September 2009. Also all actions ...
That is how suspension of high rep, highly visible users should be handled.
One last thing before I drop it. If this is going to be the new site room, I'd like to see more owners.
I remember you telling me that before. As long as he is not a Bengals fan. There are users that have miraculously became Bengals fans since they are in the same division as the Steelers ;)
@CandiedMango Yeah. Keep on talking. ;) Do you know that I am going to a Steelers game on 11/29? They will be up in Seattle playing Stack's Seahawks. I finally get to go see a live Steeler game!!!! :)
@CandiedMango He said a few of his friends are. I told him to drive them there and meet me for a "fan picture" We can both post it as our new avatar ;)
A thing was said, A thing was flagged, Mods did a thing, Mods and Users talked, Mods nuked Mos, Users spread out to new rooms, Mods had a meeting?(Or talked in their secret mod room), Keen gave us the info and reduced our new rooms down to size
FYI: I'm on strike from SFF.SE for the next week, until certain people are back among us.
That's all I'll say about the suspensions until they're over. I don't know what happened after I left last night, so I can't comment on whether or not they were justified. Looking forward to seeing you all again in 7 days' time :-)
@Praxis originally, because multiple people had the idea at the same time, then because the replacement room everyone converged on also got nuked, and right now because SQB believes that a room with way more owners has a better chance of solving the problem than this one does
@Ixrec : I'm happy to propose your addition. Are you happy for me to go ahead and do that? Also, would you be comfortable kick-muting one or more people engaged in heated debate?
@Ixrec : Cool. Leave it with me. I'll bring it up in the private chat moderation room, that when the real Mos comes back, you are a swell candidate for an additional room owner (for many reasons). :-)
Course, making anyone from "capital city" who comes here immediately feel attacked probably isn't a good strategy if you want to actually fix the problems
Here's a point of view: I'm being told there is a problem by folks I don't know and rarely ever see. The inferred issues have been deleted, and when I try to address the subject with core members of the chat, I get a non directed open statement from a higher up. We do indeed appear to have issues. Not all of them seem to be Mos Eisley specific.
A problem has been festering in SFF's chatroom for some time now. And in spite of the best efforts of your moderators and room owners, it doesn't seem to be going away. I've observed the activity in SFF chat for some time now, and I've come to believe that the problem boils down to a fundamental ...
Ok folks. Although I don't think I was a Major factor in the problem that brought the roof down, I don't think I'm helping in the ways of putting it back up. As you all know by now, I have opinions that cell me. I'm taking a sabbatical for a while.
Yeah. It's just sad. I really enjoy talking with all of you in here. I have never been offended in here in the least. As a matter of fact, I am always cheered up after a bad day in here. It's just depressing
My reading of the situation is that the events of yesterday were the straw that broke the camel's back. Things blew up in Mos one too many times, too many warnings issued, so this time it wasn't just another warning.
Well in light of the recent fiasco which occured in Chat, it would seem atleast two moderators (I won't name names!) were suspended for, what I would assume, lack of "moderating".
If a moderator was suspended and he/she returns after their allotted suspension, are they still a moderator?
