before I put more effort in it and examples for the other arithmetic operations I wanted to ask here. This is very basic stuff and the documentation contains all this information but in very different locations. So this is probably "trigonometry" all over again. :-)
Well, I'm not the mod or anything here. I'm just a bit more vocal ;) I wouldn't say yes most likely, but I don't plan on reviewing any changes like that 'till we have more of an idea what everyone thinks...
@TrevorClarke We are using the beta site to collect feature requests at the moment (and posting here is generally also fine, although the audience isn't quite right yet, but that's okay). Signups are open till the end of the month (and actual invites would take "some time" after that, though we plan to invite everyone who has signed up) but since you're already thinking of new features and whatnot... drop me an email (address is in my profile) and I'll see about hooking you up with access next week. — Adam Lear ♦Mar 25 at 22:03
@KevinMontrose Are we not able to edit the syntax? I need to add color to the font section under css... and @Undo is getting a 10-draft maximum. I am unable to edit it at all
I know there have been some posts about restoring the old editor... I am not suggesting that, I simply have a few comments.
When I start typing an example, for example I align it so that I can see the edit box, and the preview above like so:
However once I add a bunch of content we run into a...
anyone else noticed that adding an example and immediatly deleting it again in a draft prevents the draft from being submitted because "example title and body are placeholders"?
only when reloading the draft the "New Example" is visible again and I must change at least title or body before I can really delete it.
For example, which one would fit best: 1. Functions 2. Passing arguments to functions 3. Passing 2d arrays to functions 4. Specifying size when passing 2d arrays to functions.
I'd think "Functions" - with the other things in your list as examples under the "functions" topic.. At least that's what most existing topics look like. (IMHO, that is) You can always move things around later (there's a split & merge feature)
that really depends on your judgement. If you think it justifies a seperate example/topic for each case then create them if not: don't. Every edit will be reviewed so it may be rejected because it's too specific. It can also be deleted if someone thinks it's too specific. I think documentation is far from guidelines like these and currently everything is handled by reviewers (other beta testers).
Hmm - I have tried a couple of times to suggest a new tag for Clojure, once you type in the text entry field I'm not seeing a submit button, so I hit enter, but then when I go to look at proposed tags, it's not there - I can't see anything in the privileges list, so I wondered whether this was a bug, or just missing functionality while in beta
@TrevorClarke and @theheadofabroom You can cheat though by creating the tag on the Q&A part of the site, then it will show up in the list for documentation. Not sure if doing that is a good idea though..
Possibly not - I guess I'd just been doing a bit of Clojure recently, I don't touch the JVM particularly often, and have a load of notes I've made - I thought I could dump them all here, but it's potentially not the best idea to abuse a loophole in a beta product for your own personal benefit...
@Undo could you help me with this post: http://docs-beta.stackexchange.com/questions/753/escape-character The topic in question can be found at this link: http://docs-beta.stackexchange.com/documentation/proposed/changes/2301
I am only pining you because it is kinda annoying and I dont want to forget about it! xD
@TrevorClarke If you're moving examples from one topic to another, you should use that "move examples" feature instead of copy-paste, it preserves ownership
"Reputation earned on the Q&A portion of this site isn't going to be retained when we move back to Stack Overflow at the end of beta, so..." from docs-beta.stackexchange.com/a/437/622
From what I understand the current plan is to move Docs to SO, and then SO rep will = Q&A + Doc rep.
This also means that people from the Q&A part of SO will have access to the same privileges on the Docs portion of SO, than us users that have been contributing, and learning about what works an...
I suspect that either (1) no one will be able to edit without going through review, or (2) the threshold for unreviewed edits will be set at 20k or similar. There won't be any difference between you (937) and me (15k) in privileges granted by rep.
And there'll be plenty of meta discussion around it for a good while.
