When you nominate yourself, you have to write a little blurb explaining why you'd make a good moderator. That's hard! :-) So I'm taking a little bit of time to write that.

So I think we're pretty much guaranteed to skip the middle "primary" round, which is for the purpose of reducing the # of candidates to 10.

It says 4,808 visits/day. When I started using Japanese, it was pretty low, and we hit our lowest in 2013 when we were down to a couple questions a day.

yeah, I remember near-double-digit traffic a few months after beta started

I do notice some of my old questions keep getting trickle votes and views, so must be pulling in people from somewhere

but I don't think many people from the private beta are still around. We had three generations of contributors come and go last time I was here

Yeah, we've definitely had some attrition since 2011! I didn't show up until 2012, around when Earthliŋ and ssb showed up.

sort of to be expected. The key is to keep having new members take over and rise up to join the expert base

I really hope one of our Japanese users run. Increasing amounts of talk on the site is in Japanese, and increasing number of users are Japanese. Japanese proficiency + cultural understanding are becoming increasingly valuable for moderation.
