I was hired for Analyst role and now our group published a senior analyst opening about a month after my joining.
My qualification (education + work experience) fulfill the criteria mentioned on the website.
Can I ask my manager for the other role? if so, how to ask?

@Anant Thanks.. sorry I see now you said so in your original comment (clearly I hadn't had enough caffiene). Normally I'd say that's too early to look at an internal transfer or promotion... that said there's nothing wrong with having an informal chat with your manager to see if there's any possibility
I'd say something along the lines of that if the Senior role had been available when you were applying that you'd have applied for that
at the end of the day if the company thinks your suitable and agrees to promote you they aren't really worse off - they still need to fill a vacancy just a slightly less senior one
