Honestly, with the above meta question, I agree with the OP. I don't think answers should attack people one side of the political spectrum. it's understandable that @Kilisi who has maybe less exposure to US politics doesn't see it that way, but it's pretty rude and inflammatory.

Not something I'm going to worry about it's a bit ironic that people are 'Standing with Ukraine' which I would think inflammatory, but upset over this... que sera sera.

The interesting thing about this question, is I think it's going to be a bit of a recurring theme for the next few years. At least in the west. COVID has certainly shaken up employee and employer expectations.

The whole Ukraine thing is over my head anyway... never been there, don't know anything about the place. I vaguely thought it was part of Russia until people mentioned a war

COVID in my opinion has changed the World, it will never be the same as it was

@GregoryCurrie I agree, but it's not something we have direction on as mods. So we'll have to deal with it somehow or other if/when it gets too much

Regarding Russia, I don't want to pretend to be an expert, but it would appear that Russia has ostensibly weakened its global position with its actions.

I'm not in the first World, so epidemics aren't something new. We lost more people to the measles recently than we will with COVID and those were mostly babies, not sick old people

Probably made some arms dealers rich though. Hurting a country has never stood in the way of making money

I feel war is probably the least zero-sum thing there is, but yeah, there will be winners.

I don't really begrudge people with the "Stand with Ukraine" shit, it's pointless, but people feel a bit helpless at times I suppose.

I'm in the Pacific, we have a genocide happening in PNG for the last 20 years that no one cares about. Stone age tribesmen against a modern military.... Ukraine has guns and can always surrender if they want.

Yes, double standards at play.

It's tough to surrender when you fear what may become of your wife and kids. Russia has (according to reports) moved 2000 children from Ukraine into Russia.

I really don't know what the moral obligation here is. Fighting and surrendering are two shitty options.

Seems simple enough, you fight for your family. Thats what the stone age tribesmen do. They don't have an option of surrender. I have no idea on the moral obligation part. Got enough issues feeding my kids while COVID kills our economy.
