Why was 2 answers here deleted by a mod?

I'm interested to know what happens if the OP asks the wrong question, which I suspect was the case here.

I note that other answers don't address the question either.

@Old_Lamplighter you missed a fair bit while you were on hiatus, someone with the mental horsepower of your average moldy turnip and the sort of maturity level that is too low even for Reddit

@motosubatsu yeah, I see that. The vulgarity and general hostility gave me pause, because I never saw anything in here like that.

@Old_Lamplighter hehe... well, some months ago we saw a rise in Troll posts. Not only "elegant" troll posts, but also plain spam and xxx content in several of them. The reason?... unknown, my guess is that Trolls have more free time now with all the COVID situation and are bored, perhaps

However, as a consequence of that, I started digging into ways of reducing such attacks, and got more involved in the SmokeDetector project

And eventually found that we could redirect the possible spam alerts to a chat of our own, filtering only those posts that correspond to TWP

This not only helps create awareness of users that are interested in helping to flag/remove spam content

but also helps to train the Smoke Detector

and in several cases now posts are automatically flagged and even removed when the case is evident

and this has reduced the attacks I believe

@DarkCygnus yeah, I never expected to see some of the outright vulgar stuff (privilages of being able to see deleted posts)

@Old_Lamplighter yes, you are right, it became less "elegant" and just plain vulgar content

If you like and feel like it, you could consider joining that other chat room, so you can be aware and even pinged if you want of alerts that Smokey gives

given that you have all the 10K+ privileges you are in a position to act swiftly upon any spam that you see :)
