@GregoryCurrie here's the thing: Workplace gets a lot of comments. Most of our moderation time is spent dealing with comments. Comments that ask for clarification are important and need to stay until addressed or it's clear they won't be. Those are a minority. Many of the comments are discussions, tangents, personal opinions, quasi-answers, jokes... those get in the way of the ones hat we want authors to see and respond to.
So things get cleaned up and maybe the occasional "good" comment gets carried along, but comments are meant to be ephemeral. The best way to make something persist is to incorporate it into an answer.
The last deleted comments you had before this one today were on a thread where everything got moved to chat, so your comments were relocated, not deleted.
You can always raise the issue if you disagree with a moderation decision. Please search meta for the other "why was my comment deleted?" questions; there have been several. For one comment I suggest just letting it go; if you see a pattern you're concerned about, absolutely raise it for community input. Moderators strive to serve the community; we don't rule over it. But please give some thought to the magnitude of the problem; in the last month we've deleted around 1300-1400 comments.

It makes sense to migrate a conversation to chat, and I get that comments are meant to be ephemeral.
The problem I have is I have absolutely no visibility over my own deleted comments, and who deleted them. So I have no idea what patterns.
All I know in this instance is I answered one comment, and contradicted another, and my comment is gone. I note that one of the people I contradicted is a moderator.
Also, the moderator I contradicted had one of their answers modified yesterday (by you actually) because it personally attacked other members of this SE.
So, it's not like I don't trust the moderation team, it's just... well...

@GregoryCurrie wait, what? My most recent edits were to posts from non-moderators -- a few hours ago to remove personal attacks from an answer from a regular user, and a day ago to remove links and other spam markers from a question that a new user asked about on meta. You're not confusing high-rep users with moderators, I hope? There's a big difference. :-) Moderators (and certain SE employees) have diamonds after their names.

@MonicaCellio Ahh sorry. Maybe I'm confusing terms here. When I say "moderator" I meant a user with access to moderator tools.
That is my mistake.
The good news is that I now know the difference between "moderator" and "access to moderator tools". So a previous comment of yours now makes more sense to me.

Yeah, HNQ is a bit of a gravy train. A train I've ridden a few times to good effect.

@GregoryCurrie I don't say much, but I watch. I watched the two elections, so I don't trust nobody. You say the wrong thing and they push you out.
