Morning all
09:03
Good morning Nofel. I hope that you've had a restful weekend. Hopefully you are on the start of a new journey now.
09:15
I have to start new job search
09:32
Yes. Hopefully one that is a better match for your skills and personality.

@RichardU I am still in the lead for this year.....
@Snow Hodor
Good afternoon.
I am remoter today...and my PC at work is acting up.....
( Sigh )
I am WFH. Sun is out, dogs are sleeping on the decking.
nice.
Thankfully my project was literally just checked in :)
So my pull finished and I am good to go
LOL
that's your work done for the day then....
11:48
You going for the moderator spot? You should.....
I am undecided. Chris would be perfect for the role.
dang we threw down at the same time LOL
We sure did. I've not upvoted your answer though, as the loan document from the employer declares that the employee will be employed for the next 6 months at least. I can't see the employer signing that for someone who's handed in their notice.
Yeah I see no other way for him to go...
taking the car is not right...
There's my way or the highway.
11:57
LOL
Drop the idea of a new car and just get a real cheap runabout.
yeah.
cheapo isn't a bad plan either.
neither of us got a vote....
come peeps
Rebooting BRB
12:22
Flying back to my country tomorrow for 2 weeks
12:34
I hope that goes well, Nofel. Are your family at home supportive?
Yes @Nofel Good luck to you.
@Snow If you run I think you will win
Hmmm. I'm still thinking about it.
couple more votes before another rep cap
@Snow nice answer!!
12:52
Thanks! It'll probably get locked when someone competent comes along and finds a duplicate.....
Dang. one rep short of 37K.
you rep capped?
if not you should be over now
nope. nowhere near.
your over now...
13:03
merci
13:15
@RichardU I watched the movie last week on my day off from my seagull manager. It was a good movie.
I watched it in 3D, I am probably gonna go back for the so-called 4D.

I need to ask something I may put later on the main site, but for now don't feel comfortable with: Last year there was an incident at my work where a coworker (male) asked out a female coworker, and once rejected punched a wall and continued to follow her around and generally make her uncomfortable by failing to understand he rejection of advances. He was disciplined (sort of) to my knowledge, but I was surprised he didn't get fired beside the fact we were short-staffed.
This guy's walked a thin line the whole time he's work where I do, and while I thought he'd been fired during the off season, he's recently started working again, and I don't know how comfortable I feel working around him again. I may not have been the object of his attention, but I do know he was bad enough to warrant a change in departments for my coworker.
@Pleiades So this guy goes off, and its the coworker who has to change departments? Yeah, that's pretty concerning.
@Pleiades sorry to hear that... what do you want to do with this?
@BradC She chose to, but it's still a weird affair overall
Do you no longer wish to work there?
Do you want that coworker to be fired?
@Pleiades Clearly keep your eyes and ears wide open for any sign of ongoing misbehavior, but its hard to say, beyond that
18:34
@DarkCygnus I said to myself that if it really was the same guy returning--common enough name--that I'd consult this site to see what to do about it. I probably won't see him often, but I don't want this to happen to someone else. I've been stalked before and it's not fun. It's just mind-boggling how this guy could blatantly harass someone and still be able to work there.
He wasn't even present for half his shifts either; I'm fairly certain the only reason he still has his job is because his mother called in and pleaded to keep him on for mental health issues.
I don't want to quit either, but I don't want to have to deal with him, nor do I think it's fair for anyone else to have to
@Pleiades Any idea if others there feel the same way? "The 7 of us refuse to work with him" is a strong statement
@BradC Yeah no during our annual orientation for returning employees, a lot of us were happy when we thought he wasn't coming back. I could probably get a lot of support for this, but I don't want to lose my job over it, and my younger brother will be starting with us soon so I'd like to keep this away from him too if I can
@Pleiades I see... I must warn you that "What should I do" questions are off topic on the site, if you plan on posting this I suggest you rephrase that to include a goal and not ask for users to make a choice for you.
I must also ask, I suppose you identify yourself as a female? thus why you feel uneasy about this guy
Is that correct? @Pleiades
@DarkCygnus Yes. Even before this I was wary of him, but anyone would be wary of someone who openly shows off where they cut themselves
sounds like a really toxic coworker
18:40
The main thing with this though is that I'm not entirely sure what to do. I absolutely think he should get fired, but I don't want to go down with him. This is my third year here and I kind of love this job otherwise
I wonder how he managed to keep his job
His mother. He's just barely younger than I am, and I'm 18.5 at the moment
Now, that makes me wonder about the company and your boss
Not to downplay the seriousness of the one incident you mentioned, but was that the only similar incident? Or have there been others?
having your mother do that is highly unprofessional
18:42
@BradC Only one that I'm aware of, but there's been issues with him just disappearing during shifts to seek out this girl and talk to her when he has other obligations.
@DarkCygnus I'm not sure how aware of this all my big bosses are. My leads know for sure and will probably try to keep a close eye on him, but I have no idea about higher up; I don't interact with them much at all.
Sorry, so whom did the mother talk to? In order to convince someone to not fire that coworker that someone should be his manager or something
@DarkCygnus Either HR or my big boss. I never bothered to find out
So most likely your boss is indeed aware of this, unlike what you say
Sorry to sound incredulous, but I find it hard to believe that any HR or Boss will ignore a thing like this only because my dear mother called them begging to let me stay... it's just not how companies are, having the mother to call would be even worse to that person in any context I can think of
However
You concern for your wellbeing is a real thing
And that is worth addressing
@DarkCygnus Not to downplay anything myself, but I think I'll be okay overall. I just would rather not have to work with this person if at all possible, and depending on what position my shift is for the day (which sometimes changes depending on who shows up or "calls in sick"), I may still have to deal with him in some capacity.
And to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he's better, but after a season of this nonsense, I'm not real eager to give him that second chance.
I see, just make sure to be aware of when this stops being ok and worth addressing
@Pleiades this you wrote I see is a good basis for a worthy question
"I just would rather not have to work with this person if at all possible, and depending on what position my shift is for the day" - This has a goal
18:55
@DarkCygnus That's what I was thinking, actually. I doubt I'll be able to get rid of the guy, and as much as I like our HR staff, I don't know that escalating things will really do much. I know my coworker never went to them though, and I doubt she will; she's pretty timid, which is sad.
I see
I think you are in your right to ask for such, but your boss is also on his right to say "you are mature enough to be professional and work with people you don't necessarily like", just be aware of that
(If you end up asking a Post, that was perhaps a spoiler of my answer, lol)
@DarkCygnus I already work with people I don't like just fine lol. Not everyone gets along, and I understand that, but this goes beyond that for me. I need to check next time I'm there; the dent he left on the electrical box might still be present downstairs.
:0
I still wonder how this guy is still there...
I do too. I did every time I saw him after it happened too. I just don't know.
Anyway, thank you @DarkCygnus and @BradC for talking me through this a bit. I've got to go for now, but I'll probably have a draft ready for the main site before the day is through.
19:13
@Pleiades glad we could help :) have a good one

Hey guys
By any chance has any of you worked with Rasters and PostGIS?
More specifically, anybody knows a library, tool, whatever, that can convert a well known binary to a raster? (Java, ideally)
I can convert wkb to geometries, but haven't found a library that does that with rasters
