@Nofel good. The important thing is to substitute the bad behavior with a good one.

Q: Reposting an "Unclear" question

LumberjackToday a question was posted, which was a little confusing. The question was put "On Hold" temporarily for being "unclear" while the community and OP worked to clean things up. The OP, who seems new to SE, ended up re-posting the question with some minor edits. Presumably this was done to help ...

What's the deal with this user's edits?
Does anyone else think that edit was really necessary?

nope. and Ireverted ittoo

@ChrisE Thanks, I didn't want to get into an edit war, because I had a bit of conflict of interest there. Also, I noticed this because it wasn't the first time this user has made an "interesting" edit.

@Belle-Sophie To be frank: the site goal is becoming a valuable and curated Q&A repository. Helping people is secondary to that.

Downvotes are typically used for low-effort questions and I haven't really noticed an overabundance of CV+DV like you see on some other sites.
We get a large number of closed questions because our scope is non-intuitive and can be hard for new people to determine.
Vast majority of OPs come here through google and don't understand the site. They typically also are not the same audience as SO where virtually everyone already knows how these sites work.
It's not unexpected that we have a lot of close votes but I think the community has steadily improved in working with new OPs over the years.

I have been a member on quite a few internet "forums", and everywhere else it is a given that you are expected to understand the forum posting rules before you post. Admins routinely ban new users, sometimes without warning. I do not really understand why there needs to be so much hullabaloo over here on that topic.
We don't ban people for posting poor questions without even bothering to know the rules, we even volunteer to improve their posts, we bicker with each other on how to improve other people's posts, we don't even punish people for complaining that we are too strict, and yet the community gets a lot of flak from newbies for being "hostile".

I can say one good thing about IPS: It attracts the cruft that used to plague other sites.
