Q: Is it ok to ask some very personal weird questions in interview?

HimuI have been asked if i am married and how many bro/sis i have.. Where my family is... Here or another country? I felt bid odd being asked such deep level of personal questions. I have been asked in a job interview. Do i need to answer such odd questions and doesnt such question discriminate

Anyone see how this could possibly fit?
@Yamikuronue I starred your message (so it should appear in the sidebar). Maybe check back? Hope this helps. Also, what kind of role is it? Office? Or a role that may involve a lot of walking/physical activity?
Comfort is definitely important, as well as safety.

I have to share this with everyone here. This music will wipe away all your negative energy and make you feel better!
It's actually part of a huge playlist that includes some awesome saxaphone!
You can literally listen to this for days and not get bored with it.

I'm curious about a revision situation where I removed much irrelevant content from a question, making it applicable to a broader audience, and once that was approved, a higher-rep user re-added his own custom wording of some of the removed content in a way that not only added some irrelevant stuff, but also added his own style, vocab, and twist to the user's question. Was this a correct editing practice? :

Q: List of "Dealing with a troublesome subordinate" Answers

jt0ddI see a pattern in this site's content requiring, for various situations, advice on how to professionally deal with subordinate colleagues. For referencing purposes where these answers might be valuable to certain questions, please compile a list of up-voted answers that primarily cover: "D...

Q: How can I watch porn, safely, and not get a virus? (and not infect corporate data also)

TLDRI'm part of a small office in the middle of nowhere, and we just got absorbed into a large mega corporation. Sometimes we watch porn, at the office, on company computers, using the company Internet. It makes good for a good background distraction (I know I'm not the only one who does this so ...

Seems legit
to @jt0dd I believe that I downvoted your revision, although I did not see the later one and would have done the same to him. All of this is personal preference but IMO both revisions changed the actual content of the question, which to me is a huge no-no. As far as I'm concerned, if there's too much extraneous information it turns into more of a whine post than an answerable one and I'd vote to downvote the question as a whole.
@NotVonKaiser I love the fact that the security people are giving it serious answers.
@TRiG That is so, so wrong for about 500 different reasons. "Getting a virus" is around #487

Taking a poll: Listing MENSA on a resume (for a position in a very technical field), good idea or bad idea?
@NotVonKaiser edits that remove irrelevant content and improve the question are a very good thing for the site, I think. After all, once a user posts here, it's no longer truly his content, but rather the property of the community.
@jmort253 wouldn't you agree?
@NotVonKaiser You have to look at this site in the right perspective. Our goal is to help people by generating content that they are able to use in their own lives and situations, not help people one-by-one. So when a user posts a question that has the potential to be related to as a common question, it's worth removing the irrelevant part and preserve the core value of the question so that others might benefit from it.
I think "How do I deal with a subordinate who is my elder?" is a good question at it's core, and may hold special importance for users who are part of a culture that holds age and respect in high value.
I agree that edits that remove some irrelevant content are OK, but in my opinion both yours and the guy who came afterwards not only changed the scope of the question by removing content but removed arguably relevant content on top of that.

Q: When should I include information in my resume to indicate I have a high IQ?

Evil Washing MachineWhen should you add info on projects or associations that you joined that are exclusive to extremely intelligent people (e.g. Mensa, in my case)? Researching on the internet implies a general sentiment of no. The reasoning being that: There are many more people who will label you as arrogant or...

But to answer your poll as an individual: in a very technical field I would say no; chances are that most or all of your coworkers would qualify, so their reaction is likely to be to wonder why you're telling them this (does he think he's special? etc).
21:15
@MonicaCellio It occurs to me that I don't think I've ever had my IQ tested.
21:49
@TRiG my school selectively tested people for a gifted program. Mensa also accepts (or at least used to accept) non-IQ-test scores, like SATs.
22:25
@MonicaCellio I vaguely recall a couple of aptitude tests, but I'm pretty sure none of them was IQ.
@TRiG yeah, IQ tests are expensive if they're any good, so I wouldn't expect schools to routinely do that. They were just starting to consider the idea that one size doesn't fit all when I was in high school, so they tested the top students and started a gifted program (which mostly didn't help me - too little too late). What threshold they set, or how they decided it needed to be IQ-based in the first place, was never explained to us.
We also (all) took assorted aptitude tests. One was from the Army; that one told me that I should under no circumstances go for clerical jobs. I knew that already. :-) (Clerical like in secretary, not like in religious clergy.)
@MonicaCellio They got a computer program in to the careers advisor office, and demonstrated it to us by working through the survey and getting a different person to answer each question. Grand for a demo, I suppose. But that was the only time I remember it being used.
