5:45 AM
morning everyone

3 hours later…
9:15 AM
morning all
@Magisch you still working the insane shift?

Bee
9:30 AM
Morning all

@motosubatsu yes
good part is I'm more then halfway done with my workday now (10:30am)
my biorhytm is shattered. And next week i'm working the late shift
yay for finishing after 11pm

oof.. that changeover is going to be brutal

this will be going on as long as the coronavirus thing is going on
weekly swaps of late and early shift

I feel for your sleep schedule :(

I feel for the literal millions of unemployed people we'll have as a result of this
I complain but at least I still have a job and haven't been laid off

9:41 AM
@Magisch yep.. I'm torn between feeling a bit aggrieved at the continued nonsense of having me come into the office and feeling grateful that at least I have an office to go to

you're in the UK right?

@Magisch yup

I heard they announced a general lockdown today

Bee
@moto yep my partner is still having to go into the office too
But can't work from home

@Magisch yeah it was announced last night - my current place is an essential business so still operating and thus far they've been maddeningly reluctant to put WFH in

Bee
9:44 AM
@Mag they have - no going out of the house except to exercise once a day or shop for essentially once a day. All non essential work places have been told to close

this will be a global economic collapse
and the inevitable bailouts will exacerbate inequality super-hard as basically all of the troubled businesses will be scraped up pennys on the dollar by rich people
and here I was 2020 would be better then 2019 if only by not being as shit

@Magisch 2020: Hold my beer

@motosubatsu 2020: hold my beer corona beer

@Magisch lol

Bee
I'm so glad about the business I'm in

2 hours later…
Neo
11:41 AM
@Kilisi Yikes!
Good morning all.
Thank goodness wife and I still have out jobs and are able to work remotely.

Bee
Morning @Neo glad to hear it!

morning Neo

Neo
@Magisch Hello....

@Neo is there a useful purpose to editing spam posts after they are deleted?

Neo
feel very lucky.....

11:44 AM
I saw you blank out some of them. normal users don't see the content anyways, even if they can see deleted posts

Neo
@Magisch some of them have some vile content that is displayed for those over the threshold that I prefer not to see.
@Magisch Why do you ask?

this is what I see when I view a spam-deleted post

Bee
@neo me too. Non of my friends or family are in danger currently, but there are people I know in trouble

@Neo I saw you edited some of them after the fact when I was digging through the timeline, it seemed like you weren't aware normal users don't see deleted post content unless they visit the timeline too

Neo
just playing the janitor role
@Bee yeah if this thing goes on too long we will all be in trouble.

11:47 AM
just some weeks ago, we were worried about a troll...

Bee
Yeah I haven't seen the troll about @mag. Wonder if they have found more important things to worry about now too

as long as a post is spam or r/a deleted, a normal user (10k+ or not) can never see it unless they specifically visit the revision history.
even users with the "view deleted posts" privilege have to go digging to find the content of a spam-deleted post

Neo
I haven't seen much TroLL activity either...

they always get bored
especially when their posts are deleted quickly and nobody cares

Bee
As annoying as they were, I do hope they are ok

Neo
11:56 AM
this stay at home stuff makes for a long day.

I do wonder what happened to the guy with the germany question yesterday
did they post other spam? the question was very much not spam imo

Neo
@Magisch see that is the trick with SPAM its not always obvious. Read the question and the comments.... and the User History. It may or may not be.
Not enough evidence at the moment.

not enough evidence but the user was destroyed?
I thought destroying an user was like a super-confirmed spam case and maybe there's mod only information about it?
no matter, trying not to backseat moderate, carry on

Neo
I was referring to this ueer and their one question
not sure what / whom your referring too

ah
cause the question itself isn't or at least doesn't look like spam, and the user# placeholders suggest OP was not the author of the spam-deleted answer, but maybe mod only information shows something else

Neo
12:07 PM
yeah, cannot say more but it was more clear in the case your referring too
@Lilienthal did a nice job of making a useful question out of it though.

indeed

Neo
(He is a far better writer than I)

it's a question that is very pertinent at its core right now, as thousands of german companies make people take their previous years leftover PTO right now
it is a mandatory pre-requisite for a type of government subsidy

Neo
interesting..

"Kurzarbeitergeld" is basically, you can half-layoff your employees (have them work 50% of the time) and you only have to pay like 20% of the salary yourself, the rest is a government subsidy. This is for companies struggling with too little business and a prerequisite is that other means of temporarily reducing capacity are exhausted first

1 hour later…
1:10 PM
hey @Tina_Sea how's it going - any improvement? I know you were saying the other day about struggling to get in touch with the Unemployment people

1:37 PM
I finally got through. They got somethink like 50k people in one day trying to file

@Tina_Sea damn.. this is really doing a number on a whole lot of people

1:52 PM
I've been through lockdowns before.... one thing you can always rely on is having your own vegetable garden. You can't eat money
So my revenue stream is taking a hit, but my kids stomachs are full....

2:04 PM
I live in an apartment no gardening

Neo
3:00 PM
yeah for me its a bit late to plant a garden @Kilisi
@Tina_Sea Good luck to you.
for that matter good luck to us all.

3:18 PM
@Neo yeah I know, get ready for the next one. This one was always going to happen, and it's not the last
you're on lockdown, what else you got to do?

1 hour later…
4:24 PM
No lockdown here (yet) but I doubt it would affect me directly. My employer is in an unincorporated part of a county and I am as well, in another county. So Atlanta's lockdown doesn't affect us.
Not to mention, I work for a fuel supplier so we're considered "essential" I guess.

Neo
4:40 PM
Yeah I live outside of a city, but we are not venturing out unless its necessary. My company has mandated work from home.
@Kilisi Good point

4:58 PM
the "lockdown" here has changed more or less nothing for me.. I already wasn't going out for anything other than work and essentials shopping anyway

Neo
5:10 PM
same....

Working from home too. I actually work more when I'm home because I can stop and start when I need a mental break and I also don't spend an hour in the car commuting.

@ChrisE stop rubbing it in :P

5:29 PM
@motosubatsu: not even walking/sport, meeting friends/family?!

@user111388 meeting friends/family is currently forbidden and - tbh the only family I really have that could see locally anyway have been effectively off-limits before that due to various vulnerable statuses, the lockdown was inevitable here for some time - they just made it official last night

5 hours later…
10:38 PM
ah well, you guys are lucky. My core business is fine, I'm just taking a hit on the consultant stuff which in itself is pretty lucrative due to my outrageous fees. Then the core business will start hurting next week, as I usually waive all my fees during any sort of natural disaster and go into survival mode on my own resources for the duration. Can cost me quite a lot as I don't discontinue the services. But the strategy gives back in the long run in terms of customer relations
