@RichardU Yupp, have seen your answer, upvoted it. Thank you for your valuable input.

<...noisily turns page of newspaper, looks pointedly at empty glass, wonders where the staff have gone...>

@Snow they've probably gone to ring the news about the fact that someone from the past has come into their establishment (1997 called and they want their method of consuming the news back)

Heathens.

@Snow you never know they might be taking covert pics of you to post all over twitbookgram ala Sad Keanu

That's good, I won't see them.....

the important question is what the glass is supposed to be filled with

10:29 AM
I'm glad you asked. I'll take a Gin and Tonic. Bombay Sapphire, which I assume you stock.

@Snow G&T is vile.. and I won't enable you

I forget how young you people are...

I'm only thirteen years younger than you!

how I wish I could have those 13 years back...

Joe wins (again)!
@bharal - if the OP has definitively made the decision to leave, that's the only chicken that really matters. — Joe Strazzere 3 mins ago
@motosubatsu If it makes you feel any better, I'm "only" 5 years younger than you.

@MaskedMan given how much my body has fallen apart in the last five years... good luck with that!

Hello

Good afternoon

12:55 PM
Cheers D-Raz! Enjoying the environ?

@RichardU Yes indeed.
How are things in the workplace?

1:10 PM
@RichardU - And the problem with squishy questions like that is they encourage everyone and their brother to post their anecdotes as answers. I knew when we were on opposite sides on that question there was something one of us was missing

2:01 PM
@IDrinkandIKnowThings Right. It would be if I posted a long rant about my employer doing various things I didn't like, and then said "I think it's because I'm autistic and he hates me".

Well, there's nothing there to go in that respect. With the racism question, we had the OP say that manager said "Indians don't know how to code" That's something we can address. Something that is just a feeling, with no supporting information is something that, as you said, attracts anecdotes instead of answers, and sympathy instead of solutions.

2:37 PM
@RichardU I agree with you there, which is why I left that comment on the question. I can easily see pay disparities happening between existing and new hires regardless of gender. As you know, you need to really prove there's discrimination before you start waving that flag. Then again, most companies are risk averse, so will cave in regardless. I read this as being a pay issue, not as a gender gap issue.

@Snow I'm very touchy around discrimination issues, and the abuse of such. One company I worked for got tired of the phony claims and got rid of every last person they knew had any disabilities. They buried it in layoffs, but that's what they did. Abuse of discrimination claims can backfire.

Here to experience snark-free goodness.
I've been on this site for a couple of years now, first time I've stepped into the WC. Hello, world!

Hello @rath

W3lcome @rath. You'll find this a warm, safe, open environment where all is puppies and rainbows.

I don't think this is a legal-advice question. The author doesn't have a contract and has a disagreement with the supervisor; the question is how to push back. — Monica Cellio ♦ 2 mins ago
^^^ That's on the question from the food-service employee whose probation was extended.

morning everybody

And while we're on close votes, the gender-discrimination question has two more close votes, one as a dupe. It's not a dupe! It's related.
Whether this is a case of gender discrimination is secondary; the author of this question perceives it that way (and has some supporting evidence). How you approach a case of possible discrimination is not necessarily the same as how you approach a general "not getting paid enough" situation. The other question is highly related, but this is not a duplicate. — Monica Cellio ♦ 6 mins ago

hey haven't you noticed that the icons for flags and comment UV changed?
and now are permanently "on"

@DarkCygnus yeah I saw a meta about that somewhere

was just searching if I found one
got the link? @rath

4:20 PM
@DarkCygnus recent change. There are userscripts if you want to suppress that.

thanks @MonicaCellio :) take your UV
also thank you @rath
I don't know if I really like the change to be honest...
visually clogging to the eye
both UV icon and flag icon seems to much... perhaps... if the vote icon where to be removed/hidden... ;)

@DarkCygnus Perhaps the upvote option could be moved into the flag menu lol :P

@DarkCygnus I was rep-capped already when I woke up today. :-) But thanks; thee are badges. :-)

@MonicaCellio show-off

4:28 PM
@rath more like current hot topics on the network.

I do aspire to Legendary on MSE (2/3 of the way there now!), but sometimes I get big assists from SE.

Yeah, I've seen Monica recently on MSE. You've been on fire lately
I'm finally reaching 1k on MSE... lol

4:43 PM
I got legendary in here without trying. It appears I know more about the workplace than I realized.

I rarely write more than one answer a day, and go several days without writing any answer, so I need plenty of HNQ assistance to get Legendary. ;)

@MaskedMan I think Kilisi and I get the same results and for the same reason. We are more blunt than others.

There are certain truths that cannot be put nicely. There are some things that are indeed an OP's own fault and we let them know that.

5:09 PM
@DarkCygnus I have a streak going -- ten days in a row (excluding Shabbat) of capping there. New site designs, code of conduct, CMs paying more attention to communities, question filters... it adds up. Other times there are long periods of nothing to answer.
This answer might have gotten more attention if the question weren't massively downvoted (currently -38). :-)

@MonicaCellio yeah I saw it haha
I also dropped this comment; at first I was serious, until I understood OP was speaking in analogies
You may consider asking this on Parenting.SE :o) — DarkCygnus 2 days ago

@DarkCygnus nice. :-) That user has...history.

"Knock, Knock!" "Who's there?" "Put on hold as too broad."

5:35 PM
@MonicaCellio lol, just look at their posts

5:46 PM
IMO, "duplicate" and "too broad" are abused and often stand ins for "I don't know how to answer this, so it must be off topic."
