Q: Programming hardware: wedding ring

Brian M. Hunt Originally posted to programmers.stackexchange.com Are there any wedding rings that are particularly well suited to jobs that require quite a bit of typing, such as software developers? The problem I am experiencing is that most rings interfere with my typing. It seems a particularly thin a...

Q: Medical question - on or off topic?

bethlakshmiThis one was interesting: Medical Exam for shipboard employees I couldn't see any reason to close it, but it also had the problem of being almost a question that is better with a lawyer or doctor... If someone asked about "what will make me fail a drug test for a developer job?" - it'd get clo...

Q: My job duties do not match the job title/description. How do I approach my boss about changing this?

user13482I graduated with a BS in CS in late 2013. I began working my first job as a 'programmer' almost three months ago. Since hire I have not seen or worked with code, and my impression is this won't change in the near future. I have come to the conclusion that my position is IT-support, mislabeled ...

I've done one minor edit to make the title more specific and to steer away from a "what should I do" kind of question, but I wasn't sure if the body of it needed any work or not. I thought it was pretty clear and specific
There is two questions there (How do I approach my boss about the fact my job duties don't match my job title/description, and Is this a problem for future career growth), however in this case the two kind of seem to go together
and the accepted answer addresses both questions

@Rachel I can't put my finger on it but that question still feels not fitting

@Rachel The author clearly thinks that it not being a development position is an issue. There is no problem to solve here. "I don't like my job. I want to develop. How can I do that? Will I have to leave my company?" sounds like the author has identified the issue and understands that he may have to look outside his company. Do we really want to encourage questions like that?
